I can still remember as a school kid in the late 70s going to my life long best friends house ( he is a white guy ) and he was playing a tape of UB40 on his Sony ‘Ghetto Blaster’ and I started jammin to the vibe and I knew this guy was gonna be my friend for life.. @Kylo Damian I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Been listening to that angelic voice of Ali and support of the amazing and talented boys since my youth in the 80s. Man it makes me so nostalgic but happy that I'm still here and was able to turn my three beautiful children (21, 20, & 18) into life long fans of the UB40. I hope to hear this on my final day on earth...I'll go to sleep with a smile on my face. "You can't struggle with the man's house (mansion) using the man's tools", Audrey Lourdes, "be the change you wish to see in the world", "the root of all oppression lies in (supposed) science", Gandhi. Remember, if responsibility isn't exercised, its Siamese twin sister, freedom, will wither, like an unused muscle as well; now, sadly, because of self-possession, it needs to be exorcised before it's exercised. No one must be conned by the corporate structure's convolution, divide and conquer only works on the divided, life is indivisible, as your potential is illimitable. reality
they lost the plot after UB44, so even if they did get it sorted, dont mean they will get the Hunger and brilliance back that they had at the very beginning..... unfortunately.
I remember this cover, tho sure I had the 7 incher, (calm down girls) The 7 inchers I had usually were ex jukebox with a big hole in the middle. You'd buy spare centres so you could stack your singles like 5 high on your record player :/
"The mic toasting" what a beautiful expression I never heard it. What does it mean though? Is it toasting because the vocals are on fire? Or is it some type of singing-style? Is it a filter they use? Please explain! :-)
