Living History is amaazing, Ive seen the Sealed Knot (english civil war ) battles and also in South africa with zulu war and boer war reenactments. This tho is far larger, very well done.
My gggrandfather Eli J. Todd, Private 22nd Alabama Infantry, Co. D. was there and survived the war dying in 1800.

reenactors need to take better care of themselves, Civil War soldiers weren't fat
Well, they were until they started marching and eating hard tack for their only meal. Then they became thin.
They're reenactors, not fucking crossfit competitors.

Major General Patrick Cleburne was about as much of a Badass as a Man could be. Conducted the first night attack of the War, and actually ANY War before then. It's noted that he apparently moved the Federal Lines back up to 600.yards. I was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Strange thing, is about 80% of Tennessee, from Chattanooga, straight up to about half the State, then about to 2 o'clock at that point, were supporters of the Federals. That's why the Confederates about starved as much as the Federals did, in Chattanooga, after the Feds limped back in after Chickamauga East Tennessee is all Mountainous areas, and supported the Federal Troops. Several groups of the, "State Guard", that was going around and insuring that there wasn't any AWOL troops of the Confederate Army of Tennessee, and actually just pushing their weight in means they shouldn't have. The first group went East of Chattanooga, into the Ocoee and Hiwasse River areas, and one guy came back beat to hell with a note for the Leader warning them to stay away. Well, they didn't and got a Brigade from the CAT, or a little under 1,000 troops, and apparently they were slaughtered as well. In the Mountains of East Tennessee, Western North Carolina, and South Georgia, there was a large group of folks that lived in those mountains, and Whites and Blacks lived side by side, traded goods and married interacially even in the mid 1800's. That definitely wasn't looked at positively, and caused a lot of problems amongst the Eastern Tennesseans, and others in that State. That's exactly why the State flag has 3 Stars
One for each part of the State. Western, Central, and the Eastern part of the State.
I live in Arkansas and the county I live in is Cleburne County and my gg grandfather fought under Cleburne’s command at what turned out to be both men’s last battle because Cleburne was killed there and my gg grandfather was captured and sent to Camp Chase and stayed there until May 9, 1865 and when his wife and children moved from Kentucky, it happened to be 1882, the same year Cleburne County was formed lol and that’s exactly where they moved. Coincidence? Because of the name? Or just wanting to move further west? I’ll never know because all his grandchildren and anyone that knew him personally are dead

I appreciate all the extras who did the battle scenes, but they look too old for the part. Wars are fought by the youth.
that's true but a lot of young people are in school or doing other things and don't care about renacting

It is hard get young generation to join!! One the hobby can be expensive,and you have be committed to the hobby want spend money to do it. You have knowledge of the civil war or extremely passionate about the subject to do it.
Mostly, but my gg grandfather was 48 yo in the 6th AL infantry when he was KIA at Seven Pines May 31 1861. My complaint is all the very fat guys who are reenactors which was definitly extremely rare especially after 1862. There were very very few obese people other than 2-3 that I have ever heard of who were political appointments and they rode horses .
Yes, and more noticeably few soldiers would be carrying much excess weight, so no big bellies should be evident. The Confederates especially were close to starvation much of the time
very nice movie and good quality .. I noticed that they're too many fat guys in both side ..Ok we're on 2020 but they should take care of their weight i'ts just my point of view of course and it's not unrespectful for these guys
These are modern reinactors. We are very unhealthy people.

My ancestor, George M. Allen, was wounded in this battle. He was a corporal with the 19th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company C., and was from Newton Falls, Ohio. But he survived his wounds and lived from 1841-1908. If anybody has any knowledge about what part the 19th OVI had in the battle I'd really appreciate knowing that.
He was a true American hero and a patriot.
