The beam thicknesses are incomplete in yor specs it is only 20.5 at the top section of the head and 21.5 in the rest . It is 1 mm less at the top for cross string spacing in the bed . While the paint quality looks better , only when you add strings at the same color as the grip , do you then see a better alignment of hues . This was seen at your shop yesterday in Huntington. This puts you in a box , in regards to performance.
The tri color pallet scheme forces you to do this and you may not want the lack of feel in the black strings and grip , nor the function of the more natural / tan strings nor the multi clear string all the time . Overall performance is key and the racquets cosmetics limits performance when your concentrating in negating the frames color pallet through the string and grip colors .

    • @SolowSports
      @SolowSports  4 місяці тому

Dunlop has this listed as constant 20.5. What makes you believe it’s variable?
It is certainly a beautiful 3 color scheme 🤩

@@SolowSports There seems to be a section at the top with a 1mm decrease in graphite . It is either in the whole cx series or in the following discussion on the tour 16x19 . On the Dunlop sports japan you tube page , there is an almost 23.25 minuit discussion with images and charts regarding the series . While the language is not translated in closed captions , the racquet shown has a 10mm beam , concave top center section . It has definetly decreased from 10mm to 9mm's .The image and description is 7.57 minuits into the discussion . The video was 2 months ago .
I have contacted tennis warehouse , they checked the thickness of the cx 200 tour and yes , according to them it is a 20.5 constant beam .
I have two of the 2021 edition cx 200 tours 1 regular and one limited edition . While the cosmetics seem more durable and embellished a bit more in the overlays every current and previous user would not concor with you on the aesthetics of the frame .
It is the owners and players of dunlop that matter most . They and I have the ultimate purchasing power . It too me looks like hobo patchwork . This is best represented in its accompanying bags .

If those balls are official US Open 2023 balls, they were the same for m/w for the 1st time in 2023, but are they the same as what men played before? Is it identical to what we buy as Wilson US Open Extra Duty around the world please? Asking because US Open 23, and tournaments in the weeks before USO 2023 were also played with same balls, seemed very slow, slow serves per mph screen etc. And they were in transparent cans also, old ones are/were black. So are they same old or 'new and improved'? All other balls used on tour also changed in the last 3-4 years, so I would expect Wilson to follow what Dunlop and Head/Penn have already done, and perhaps build from the excellent RG ball
Nice review too, I'm one of the few who were hoping for this model to be reviewed! A bit tight tension and 1.30 for a tight string pattern, at such a low swingweight though. Cheers and thanks 👍

      Really appreciate the kind words!!
Yes they official US Open 2023 tennis balls. For the first time, same ball for me and women. Not available for purchase anywhere. Not the same as the black can variation you buy in stores. Heavier, tighter spec, thicker quality rubber, 4 ball clear tube. Same as previous years mens ball w black writing.

@@SolowSportsThank you for the confirmation, I had a feeling they were different. In previous years serves went up to 135mph and over regularly, Alcaraz even served some of those, but this year barely 120mph, and averages for both 1st and 2nd serves were really low, especially noticeable with players who don't have a bigger 2nd kick serve, it was easy to attack weak 2nd serves. Alcaraz lost quite a bit of his big forehand too, had to grind and spin way more. Both Cinci and USO 23 were a super slow grindfest
Not sure but I suspect it's ITF who certifies all those balls, and those ruling bodies have some agreement to slow balls down. Other tournaments already got new deader slower balls in the last 3-4 years or so. Only Slazenger Wimbledon remained the same, but they already were super slow and softened to the max
And interestingly enough, I think that IW 24 just starting this week reverted to old Head/Penn Tour, soft and quicker, for men, women always had them. Since 2021 men at IW played with new Head/Penn Tour XT/XD, dead, slow and hard, which totally changed the dynamic of play, with quick desert air and a slow surface to compensate. Some other Head sponsored tournaments also reverted to the old Tour ball, don't remember where, in France recently indoors 2024 I think. Was weird to see, but now it seems to be a trend
Male pros definitely complain about some of the new balls that's for sure, too dead, will bring injuries with new gen's lighter racquets

I'm a flat hitter and I'm trying to decide between the Head Gravity Pro and the Dunlop CX 200 Tour. I currently use the Yonex VCore 95 2023, but I've realized that my playing style is more traditional and flat. I've been playing tennis for about 4 to 5 months, starting out with the VCore 95. The Prestige Tour has an 16x19 open string pattern, but is otherwise very very similar. The VCore 95, on the other hand, will definitely provide more spin & power with a larger sweetspot. Do you have a more traditional/conventional stroke or a more modern swing style?

@@SolowSports Dunlops Iconic all works very well in the previous gen 18x20 . The problem comes with this new gen , in which the pocketing has increased in depth to what Iconic all had in the last generation .
Another Iconic string with less pocketing would be neccesary or non dunlop multi string all together . It does not become a direct one to one transition from the previous gen in regards to string optimization performance and colors .

@ryotamiyagi26 A great option in the 2021 cx 200 tour 18x20 for some spin and power would be , Head PPS 17 in the mains at 42 lbs and razorcode 18 in the cross at 36 lbs . This option opens up the crosses with control and a high 6.1 spin potential .
The PPS in the mains generates power and grabs on the ball with its nubbed surface and spin potential equal to razorcode at 6.0 . The difference in tensions also opens up that sweet spot .
Look at the Dunlop racquet sports you tube video 2 months ago on their you tube channels description video on th new cx updates .
