I've been using an iOttie Qi charger in my car for years with my Samsung phones and it has been solid. I agree, plugging in a cord will always be faster, but my car is 15 years old and does not have built in USB ports. I installed a new radio a few years ago with Bluetooth/USB ports, but I still use my iOttie everyday since it's in my eye line and safest for navigation.
My reasons for using wireless charging: 1. I can easily start charging my phone while driving, without looking for the cable and trying to plug it into the phone with one hand 2. I use a Qi-charger so the navigation doesn’t drain the battery, which is the most cases. If I’m low on charge I’d just plug in a cable. I’m using a $40 no-name charger with gravity clamps. Super easy to use, as this kind of mounts doesn’t require a special case or waiting for the automatic clamps to open/close. The only con is probably not holding the phone too tight, which is not a problem in most cases.
I feel Quad-lock is very nice on heavily-vibrating vehicles like bikes/bicycles. Bad for cars because cars usually don't vibrate enough to justify the effort you need to lock it. But at this point it's a different category. Bike rugged phone mounts are another thing you can review :)
I've been using the iOttie wireless charging mount for a bit over a year and I've enjoyed it quite a bit, but it has some downsides, some which are specific to my personal situation and some that are just a problem with the device itself. The first problem I have with the device is that it doesn't have any sort of small backup battery power that will allow it to open and close at least 2-3 times. Sometimes I need to charge faster, so I unplug the charging cord from the phone once it's in the mount and plug in my phone directly so it can charge at 25w instead of 10w. But once I do that, the automatic clamping doesn't work anymore, so if I take it out to type something and try to put it back in, I have to unplug the cord from my phone and back into the mount in order to get it to open. My second issue is how unreliable the wireless charging is, but it's kind of my own fault. I use popsockets popgrips, so there's a plastic plate on the back of my phone case after I twist the popgrips off. The thickness of my phone case, plus the popgrips mounting plate is right around 5mm, which is the maximum distance that wireless charging works at. If the phone moves in the mount at all, the phone will not charge, so I almost always end up plugging it in directly after it's in the mount, which is honestly a bit stupid, I know. I know I should just get a non wireless charging magnetic mount and plug it in, but I'm waiting for these new mobile accessories from Peak Design to ship, which have a more secure magnetic mount that work with wireless charging, so I guess I'll just make due until then.
Adding my vote for doing. afull quad lock review! I only use them on my bikes and prefer magnet mounts in my car for ease of use. Thanks Guys! Love the channel

Hi! I have used dozens of car mounts and while Canadian, live and work on the French Riviera. The sun is really hot here on the Mediterranean and the heat coming in through the windows is horrendous in the summer. Vent mounts suck as they block the cool breeze. Dash mounts on a disk work well, but... you have to make sure the phone is out of the sun, or the display gradually gets darker as the phone heats up. Currently, I use one of the extendable ones that a number of the mounts you tested do, and make sure it is out of the sun on the windshield. I have found as the sun is so intense, having a mount on the glass, means it will fall off if the car is left in the sun. My newest mount for my iPhone XR is a case that mimics the iPhone 12 and I have an after market MagSafe mount that, so far is working great. Keep up the great work, your reviews rock!!

Hey Aaron, just was curious about your favorite case of all time (loopy). Do they offer one that doesn’t get greasy on the back around the loop? Been a loopy fan since your early videos, have had one since the iPhone 6!
I have a quadlock case and it works amazingly with the mount I have on my bike. However, the case itself sucks. It is so slippery and hard that i had to add tape on the sides just so I can use my phone during the day. Thanks to your video i know i should not buy their car mount. I guess I'll get a new case with one of your links in the future.
These guys act like they won’t return those chargers to get their money back. Great video btw! PS. That’s what a brothel smells like…..a friend told me!
I love your reviews. I save so much time and money not buying the items i thought i need it. Thanks. and yes do the quad lock review i was just thinking of buying that one. i hated the Pitaka and Magbak and i have used iOtte, Spigen in the past.
I’m a rideshare driver, so I’m not so much using my car charger to charge my phone from nearly empty to full as making sure it stays charged over the course of the day.
I would just like to point out the quadlock is not a charge type mount that is great for anything other than off roading and for utility vehicle or motorcycle if you're buying it as a general user it really isn't that great of a mountain I will agree with you otherwise for those who do operating like I do or my brother-in-law the quadlock does much better which is why their parts are so much more expensive they're meant for off roading vehicles or utility vehicles, I would have kind of assumed that most people buying that particular kind of mount It's buying it for that reason most people are not gonna spend not much money for amount unless they're using it with specific tasks in mind
😂 seriously so confused. Good video. All anyone needs is a chart or list though at the end. It should be an obvious link. I don’t see it anywhere. So I have to take notes?
Guess it depends on what people are wanting to achieve with their car charger. I've personally never used my charge cable with the intent of charging my battery. I pretty much just plug it in to maintain the battery when using GPS and the such. I think there has only been maybe two or thee times where I needed to actually charge my phone, and I'd use a wired cable for that. QuadLock systems are really good for anything outside of a car lol They work extremely well on motorcycles or anything like a bike / quad ect ect. I don't think I would ever buy one for the car because of just how the system works.
Old video sorry, so things may have changed and I am gonna sound dumb. But they need to make a cigarette lighter USB adapter (I'm in my 50's, that's what it is called.) that will pass thru your driving app data to your car (Apple Car play or Android Auto) but you get the 20w charging by cable. I would buy that and keep my "really dumb non charging iOttie". Kinda like a Network switch or USB hub with power.
I've been subscribed and watching this channel for a while now and I just knew that you're from Calgary too! I thought it was some kind of a IP geolocation tracker but it's not! :D
Oh i can explain the pitakasmell (how we call it), our shift leader farts in every singe box bevor shipping. It’s important to have this stand alone feature.
This vid is hilarious! I have a bunch of Pitaka products & the smell wasn’t that bad at 1st but as I got more stuff it seemed they got more & more heavy handed with the spray 🤣
Just so everyone knows you can skip this video and go to ProClipUSA and get the best phone mounts hands down! Because they are vehicle specific aka custom
Xiaomi actually made one, charging rate is not bad plus it got auto clamps. Weight wise kind of too heavy especially it comes with a crappy car mount....
You promised a video on which *cables* from premium phone accessory companies are the best (i.e Nomad, Mous, RhinoShield), is that video still coming out?
Ok, this is very in-depth. Thank you. Here's the problem: My LG Stylo6 (which really is an incredible phone), with a case is fat as H*L*. In addition, the phone hates anything magnetic. I don't need a charger, only a gripping-type mount that's deep enough for my phone/case's fatness, and ability to put the phone in without it FALLING OUT from it's own weight! Any guidance would be awesome. It would be nice if the manufacturers would show the depth of the grip of their mount in inches (or even cm would help). Cup holder mounts are a waste of time. The number of cup holders vs the number of phones is always a limited ratio. And you always end up with your phone out of safety vision for driving. Vent holders are the best, but JEEZ can't they make one that doesn't fall out from added weight?
I use the quadlock for mounting my iPhone on my snowmobile handle bars in the winter and that’s it, don’t use it the rest of the year. Strong solid mount for specific cases.

I found some $40 MagSafe vent mount with wireless charging and have been using it for at least 4 months I absolutely love it and it was so cheap
What brand?
Key missing component is the adhesives for the minimalistic mount, which ones actually hold
I would love for you to do one of these with wired car mounts. C’mon you know you want to!!
Do you guys have a Canadian link for your number 1 because the link keeps taking me to the Amazon US page.
Quad lock. Sure. Have a link for that a/c to d/c adapter? I have an Kottke I don’t want in the car because my car play is wired only.
Very fun video compression, but they all seems bulky and not worth buying ! 👍🏼
$1000 for car chargers to make a youtube review video. $0 spent at nail salon for all the close up hand shots. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I guess I'll get a new case with one of your links in the future.
any working with Apple Airplay?
Very extensive review! Thank you
These guys act like they won’t return those chargers to get their money back.
Click on video and hit the like button even before the video starts. I always appreciate y’all’s videos
Wait, are you guys taking shots?
I’m a rideshare driver, so I’m not so much using my car charger to charge my phone from nearly empty to full as making sure it stays charged over the course of the day.
I like how you guys are always drinking while reviewing lol.
Do the Quadlock review, their iPhone cases are the best one in the market, very high quality
I iotty defaulting to closed with no phone in is a beal breaker for me as you have to open it manually every time to put your phone in
Sad that you didn’t test the Xiaomi wireless car charger it’s actually perfect for me!
I was going to buy Quad Lock system for motorcycling. So....yes.....please. Do a review of quad lock.
Power couple right there.
they're not together
@@jamievsjamie8377 nah
Thank you for the video.
What’s the significance of the different colored bars on the graphs?
Is there a wireless car charger that can charge through a metal cases?
Thank you! 🙏
I actually went to my office to see if the box for my Mag EZ case still smells after a few months. Yep. It’s like the Seinfeld stink!
This review is good for cars which have wireless Android auto and CarPlay
Just so everyone knows you can skip this video and go to ProClipUSA and get the best phone mounts hands down! Because they are vehicle specific aka custom
Val is amazing 😊👍🌹
Xiaomi actually made one, charging rate is not bad plus it got auto clamps. Weight wise kind of too heavy especially it comes with a crappy car mount....
Here in the philippines around 3-4km from home to work. Always took me around 20-30mins hahaha.
You promised a video on which *cables* from premium phone accessory companies are the best (i.e Nomad, Mous, RhinoShield), is that video still coming out?
Are you still going to do a MagSafe case video? If you are could you please include the moment thin case?
I work at a movie theater and you singing Barbie girl gave me PTSD.
Would love to see this with magsafe
How about the esr car mount with MagSafe capability?
I use the quadlock for mounting my iPhone on my snowmobile handle bars in the winter and that’s it, don’t use it the rest of the year. Strong solid mount for specific cases.
Getting ads for Quadlock while watchinig this video :)
