the songwriting in this album and especially in this song is off the roof. I simply cannot fathom how beautiful this song sounds and feels. A true masterpiece. Thank you Ryan. calico xo
this one is my favorite. ❤ the whole melody, but especially in the chorus "ooold summer rain..." is just SO beautiful. thank you, Ryan. i missed you with my whole heart!!
I agree with those other comments. This is beautiful and my favorite on the album. Thank God for you Ryan. You are an oasis among the bland and predictable musical landscape that is served to us. Thank you!!
Such a beautifully deep and layered song... definitely feeling this one Lyrics: I'm not your brother, I can't take care of you I've purchased furniture in place of you I'd have you over, Jenni's in the other room But she'll be leaving in the afternoon Clear water, still water, we could both wade Clear water, still water, what's our code name? Stay close or go far, I'll still wait Old summer rain Some lefts, some rights, so strange In the porch light, handprint on a windowpane Like white teeth to a red wine stain Some left, but the right ones stay A good end to a Saturday I walk to Bel Air, I walk until I'm new I call up Jacob for something to do You're somewhere out there, leaving me little clues Chewing licorice in your cowboy blues Clear water, still water, we could both wade Clear water, still water, what's our code name? Stay close or go far, I'll still wait Old summer rain Some lefts, some rights, so strange In the porch light, handprint on a windowpane Like white teeth to a red wine stain Some left, but the right ones stay Went broke, but the band got paid If I could stretch these hours into a lifetime Well, I would stretch these arms And do it at the right time, I would In spirit, you were there, well maybe next time Careful with your words, won't let it slide by Candy in your cheek, sweet goodbye Old summer rain (old summer rain) Some lefts, some rights, so strange (yeah) In the porch light, handprint on a windowpane Like white teeth to a red wine stain Some left, but the right ones stay A good end to a Saturday
@@brownbryank yeah, this sounds like really amazing country music. beautiful guitar playing, amazing lyrics and vocals with a wide-open green sound. listen to this song outside on a warm summer day and you will feel it.
White Teeth I'm not your brother I can't take care of you I purchased furniture and placed here I'd have you over Jennie's in the other room She'll be leaving in the afternoon Clear water, still water We can both wade Clear water, still water What's a codename Stay closer, go far I'll still wait Old, summer rain Some less, some rise So strange In the porch light Imprint on a window pane Like white teeth to a red wine stain Some left but the right ones stay A good end to a Saturday I walk to Bella I walk up to the noon I call up Jacob for something to do You're somewhere out there Leaving me little clues Chewing licorice in your cowboy blues Clear water, still water We can both wade Clear water, still water What's a codename Stay closer, go far I'll still wait Old, summer rain Some less, some rise So strange In the porch light Imprint on a window pane Like white teeth to a red wine stain Some left but the right ones stay Went broke but the band got paid If I could stretch these hours into a life time Well I would stretch these arms And do it at the right time I would In spirit, you were there Maybe next time Careful with your words Won't let it slide by Candy in your cheeks Sweet goodbye Old, summer rain Some less, some rise So strange In the porch light Imprint on a window pane Like white teeth to a red wine stain Some left but the right ones stay A good end to a Saturday
@@Rue-ti1vcim not exactly sure but i think it's about how he still wants to talk things through with the ex in the song despite everything that happened. like "clear water" means that they both know why they broke up, but it's still water so they could "wade" (as in talk to each other) in it ^^
I love this song but I can’t for the life of me figure out the meaning behind the lyrics. It sounds incredible but I just don’t know what he’s writing about. Any thoughts?
It seems to me like it's reminiscing over a past young summer fling where they did everything together but they are not with each other anymore and he's saying he will still wait for them. Saying that the experience was so fresh and new and not tarnished like how red wine (time) stains white teeth (beginning of the relationship). Probably also implying that the person has some problems themselves and needs to figure them out themselves but Ryan will still be there for them still regardless. He had people come and go but the right once stayed in his life, even though he still misses the ones that left him. He went broke (lost them) but the band got paid (he felt fulfilled emotionally).
@@robbieiraburo9405pretty spot on. I love his comparison of red white stains, which gradually stain over time. It’s kind of how sadness and loss stings over time. To me this is a top tier lyrical song. It’s crazy!
this has genuinely become one of my favorite songs of all time.

Same!!! Voice, lyrics, violins 🥺🥺🥺
Bro is criminally underrated
