    wow nice the reg edit thing helped ! thanks alot ! ( maybe you could explain what the deletion did, it was a little frightening not to know what i am deleting ... ^^ )

      @@TechBachhal it worked fine for a day but unfortunately the issue comes back again :( after a while the explorer crashes and almost every auto-start program in the taskbar disappears. even by deleting the registry entries it doesn't work anymore.

    DID ALL THAT...nuh uh. Windows Explorer opens for a second and closes...I am dead in the water and ready to jump off a cliff because the technology is not serving me...I am serving it.

    Excellent. For me it was the first registry tweak that solved the problem.
