Lubed Budget Timestamps: 12:28 KTT Mint 13:50 Frog 18:17 KS-3 Yellow 19:06 JWKs I personally think the Frog sounds the best out of any of the switches tested when lubed (and stock is pretty good too), not to mention the best of the budget options.
Def think I should've put the CJ's higher for smoothness. the pom on pom feel of the switch was just so different from a lot of the switches but def refreshing!

I feel that CJs get worse when lubed, and they really don't need to be filmed. They are the best linear switch in terms of stock feel and performance. They are smoother than lubed Tangies and Tealios.
@@chrisdotdash5154 After lubing my CJ's (205g0) they maybe got 1% less smooth. But the sound immensely improved. For that reason, I think they are a perfect linear as long as you're ok with lubing.

Be aware that the acoustics of his room highly impacts how you hear all of the switches. I think it all sounds a bit more hollow than they could sound in your room.
Too bad you have to find and restore vintage keyboards for good switches. All customs are copy pasted from like 2 or 3 templates and no one wants to put the effort into making repro of hall effect. Even other repros like the buckling spring one and matias alps clones are trash compared to the originals so I have little faith.

Prevail Epsilons are the first linear switch I’ve bought - I’m all in on the tactilegang, but the progressive spring on the epsilon I find to be a nice middle ground in terms of giving me resistance to avoid bottoming out. Even the default factory lube is good, no scratchiness at all. I don’t feel the need to open, clean and relube them.
Still trying to find out what switches I like best, but the linear switches that I found interest in are Zakus, hyperglides spring swapped, gateron cjs, marshmallows, and box inks.
since you like long pole switches, you should try the cow non-uwu. that boi has the longest switch stem in the world - LITERALLY. and I just wanna rant about konpeitous, they're so expensive and hyped up and i dont really know why. they're so muted and not even that smooth, and at that price?? manggg. After trying nearly as many linears, i have personally come to the conclusion that after 205g0, a sprit spring swap and filming they all feel extremely similar and only have slight differences in sound
@@exiaax i meant the opposite, they all feel the same but sound slightly different. As far as mx style linears, I mostly use jwk linears, not the full nylon ones though but like ev01, doggikon, alpaca. Theyre higher pitched but still nice. Gat black ink v2 is a bit lower pitch. Cherry hyperglide black is a decent middle ground inbetween clack and thock. The other jwk ones like banana splits are one of my favorites, tangerines are okay. H1 is also similar to other jwks. Tangerines didnt click with me. Idk why. Creams are interesting sounding but it does feel a bit leathery and not as smooth but it's really splitting hairs. Also note this is all with them lubed with 205g0, filmed and spring swapped to sprit springs with gpl105 bag oiled. When it comes to tactiles and clickies I've tried most of the big name switches but my orange or brown alps kick all their asses by a mile, or topre is also very interesting feeling and sounding. The new zeal clickiez seem like the best bet for mx tactiles or clickies but still fall short of vintage switched like alps blue.
@@soey.carter4126 there's an endless stream of mx switches so I'm going to go by material not by switch names, I'd say pom housing is the clackiest, then polycarb top nylon bottom, then least clacky would be nylon top and bottom. Plate, foam, mounting method and case materials matter too. You'll want to pair it with a metal plate like brass or alu, or fr4 to be most clacky and top mount no foam is clickier than gasket with foam.

I can't believe you think CJs smoothness is that low. I have CJs, Tangies, and Durock POM and I would rate their smoothness as: CJ > Tangies > POM. I think CJs are the smoothest I felt when I felt like 10+ linear switches side by side.
Really making me second guess mysefl here lmao but you might be onto something! it was a doomed endeavor trying to fit 20 smooth af switches onto half the chart but idk if i'd go the way to say smoother than tangies but pretty on par with POMs hmmm also i think i had zakus too high up on the smoothness scale as well :p
@@kekeebs I agree that I wouldn't say CJs are way smoother than Tangies because Tangies are already so smooth! I would say they're still bit smoother though. They just have a different feel where Tangies feel softer due to UHMWPE and CJs feel harder from POM in my experience.

Thanks for this, been looking for a gateron oil king comparison and this answered my question. Just wanted to ask, when you lubed your Oil Kings, did you have to remove that excessive factory lube or you applied 205g0 directly without wiping it off?
I wiped everything off before lubing. the factory lube was strangely some of the most inconsistent ive seen + they were using some really light lube, and i figured mixing it with a thicker variant like 205g0 would just cause inconsistent lubing across switches
@@kekeebs and thats why i prefer the stock oil king in this video feels deep and just hit right in the ear.. This tangerine stock also better than lubed in this video, but the winner is Gateron milky yellow lubed, cheap price sounds expensive hahahaa

The issue with CJ switches is that opening them ruins them, and I like heavy springs for linears, it's a shame that they don'y offer heavier springs.
