Hi Dave - thanks for your very thorough and fair review of our new JAVA CARBON Single Shot integrated amplifier! Your review is a world-first for this model and I think you've captured the sonic essence of the amp beautifully.
A little bit of additional information that might be of interest.
All JAVA Hi-Fi products are based on three fundamental principles; exceptional audio quality, innovative technology and placing our customers at the heart of everything we do.
Our amplifiers are the result of an intensive R&D programme that includes detailed measurements and extensive listening tests. We uses premium components where it matters, removing anything unnecessary from the delicate signal path. It's our belief that this approach, combined with the use of breakthrough technologies and unique circuit designs allows music to flow unhindered from input to output, delivering class-leading sound that brings listeners closer to the music.
Based on your comments about the purity of sound and the ability to hear deep into a song and connect with the music on an emotional level, I feel as though we are on the right track!
    A few other comments:
Your ears are not deceiving you - our amplifiers do benefit form an extended break in-time and will continue to improve over their first 100 - 150 hours of operation. As you've noted, the upper bass region will fill out a little and tonal density will increase. We have also noted that there is a "warm up" period of 20 - 25 minutes from initial power up. The amp will still sound great from cold, but after 20-25 minutes of operation the sound will open up and bloom a little more. After the warm up period, music just seems to flow better from the speakers in a completely natural and unforced way.
Thanks again for your most detailed and thorough critique. I'm thrilled and humbled by your response to the JAVA CARBON Single Shot integrated amp.

Hey Martin Bell!! Super cool that you watched my review and I'm pretty stoked that you can validate the things that I heard. I want to congratulate you on producing such a wonderful component; even the short time I had with it has fundamentally changed, in subtle ways, the way that I listen to music and my expectations from my equipment. The pure design and high quality components really pay dividends in the emotional connection to the music. I have put a google alert for any local Java Hifi preamps that become available!
I did make sure that the amp had been playing music for an hour or so before I sat down and really paid attention to what I was listening to, and I think that this particular amp is probably still on it's way to sounding it's best. It is an honor to be the worlds first to review it, and I hope that more people get turned on to what a great (and beautiful!) integrated amp you have built.

Great review! I have never been very impressed by the Class D amps I’ve heard (except maybe the Eon-Art stuff…$$$), but have never heard Class D at this price point. Am certainly interested in hearing the Java gear…perhaps at the Montreal Audio Fest this year?

I have been very impressed with the sound of the Eon-Art amps, but I think I've only heard them with Gershman speakers. This Java amp sounds different from most other class D I have heard. I hope that Studio du Son shows the Java at Montreal again this year...

Hello from Le studio du son, We are looking into showing the Java at the Montreal show, it is a special amp, so depending on interests, we might also be doing private listening sessions. Looking forward to meeting people at the show this year.

    $13,000! Ridiculous.

Yes, I get it, but the level of build quality and parts, plus the sound quality cannot be denied. Not for everyone, but a really great performer for those who are in this market. I am always trying to find lower priced stuff that will give this level of performance.

Hello again, Oliver from le Studio du son. Yes this Java amp is not inexpensive, but then again great products are never cheap. Java Hifi products are comparable to Tesla cars, they are the future of amps. They combine the signatures of all 3 formats available today, the softness of tubes, the soundstage of A/B and the power of D class technology. It has been tested with many different speaker brands and has always brought the best out of them. The components are first class, so much that if you were to try to recreate the sound by purchasing separate components from other brands, you would probably have to spend more, the benefit of a product like the Java is that you don’t need to worry about if different brands mesh well together, if you need to spend a lot of money on interconnects for instance. The Java is a one stop, lifetime purchase. The ultimate all in one solution.

Hi Freeradical, not sure the reference...where's that from? Java Hi-Fi is actually a Kiwi creation and yes it is gorgeous!

@@davelistenstohifi The reference is my doing. Kiwi huh, that makes sense, they are about as stuck up and yuppie as it gets, using Seattle as a standard. lol. The whole coffee thing is just so played out, its too bad they couldnt come up with an original name. Kiwi Acoustics would have been 1000 times better. JMO :)

Hey Free...my research shows the origin of the Java reference to be from the StereoCoffee LDR Preamp, not sure where the coffee came from, but there you go! My biggest knowledge of New Zealand is Flight of the Conchords, not sure if that's yuppie or not. Middle Earth amplification is my vote if they are rebranding....

@@davelistenstohifi New Zealand is one of if not the nicest, most beautiful places to live on the planet, but that space is very limited, so they treat it so. They dont let "just anyone" move in, you need money and lots of it. More power to them! Middle Earth Amplification sounds like a great name to me! Where you at? Im in Oregon. USA

I'm in Montreal, vibrant city with lots of resources but weather is not great for much of the year. How is Oregon in the grand scheme of things, good record stores and affordable housing? Aperion is there I think...
