Yes thank you .. i learned that i do not want to deal with the VAST engine again. I had forgotten what it was like from my K2000 and was starting to feel tempted to get this synth ;)

(I think I was something like your 920th subscriber. I don't remember for sure!)

Thanks a lot for all these great tutorials. It prevents me having a big debt by buying a new analog synthesizer (at least for the moment). Although I have the LE edition, your first ten videos about programming PC3 can be applied 1:1. The small display has always deterred me from going deeper in touch with the device. But having seen your tutorials, I can now easily create my own stuff. Great job!

It's incumbent on the programmer to assign Attack, Decay, and Release controls within their Programs. You can assign them to some common control sources (I generally use sliders F, G, and H respectively) and then in Setup mode just assign those sliders to transmit their default CCs for every Zone.

Thanks so much for posting this awesome video! I am learning so much about my PC3 right now! I don't know if this would be too much work for you, but I would love to see a tutorial on how to program a "bombastic" sounding choir. I never could get that right in my Roland products, and there's probably no hope for me on the PC3 without a little help. Anyway, thanks again! I really hope to see more of these tutorials!

    Merci
I didn't understand the use of DSPCTL/LP Frq/KeyTrk at 9:19; the resonance soind change according to the key. It is note the same on my PC3

can you tell me if this differs markedly from VAST in K2500 and K2600 series?

@777metalheart777 sure, post a link to a video or audio example of what you're talking about and I'll see what I can do.

I bought Kurzweil PC3K6 recently. I did thirds over Layers. When I transpose (In Master), Thirds lose structure. I had your products K2000 and K2661 in which I could transpoz in this way.
    Sorry for my English.

Is it possible to make one global release/attack controller in setup mode? ; one slider to control all of the programs release and attack in one setup patch?

The other thing I haven't worked out how to do yet is to modulate the sustain level. Sure, I can sit on the AMPENV page and change it from there, but I'd love to be able to do it more conveniently. Haven't been able to find anything on Google yet. Do you have a tip for this?
In any case, thank you for this great series of tutorials. Playing around with the Kurz like this is helping me get an intuitive understanding of how to make analog sounds.

I'm loving this tutorial. It's really helping me get into VA synthesis. I love how you start off by assigning sliders to modulate the filter and set the shape of the envelope.
I'm having great difficulty understanding why the decay depth setting on the ENVCTL page has to be set to 50x while the other envelope parameters are set to 0.018x. Is there a reason Kurzweil chose to do it like this?

@baltik79 How you do the transposition is important -- are you doing this in Setup mode or within a particular Program? I presume you're in Program mode with your reference to Layers. If you're having issues with a particular sound, post a link to the .pc3 file and I'll take a look. Also, so there's no misunderstanding, I don't work for nor do I represent Kurzweil, I just really like their stuff.

Is it actually for PC3A8 as well?

    so setting res.to 12db ...is a 2pole filter
Are there other options to define the pole of the filters on the kurz.

    • @poserp
      @poserp  11 років тому

Yes, generally you can select poles by selecting different DSP filters. LOWPASS is 6 db/octave, 2 POLE LOWPASS is variable (but generally people will use it as a two-pole filter), and 4 POLE LOWPASS W/SEP is variable as well, but generally it's used at 24 db/octave.

I totally hate programming my kurtz. I Love this keyboard, but, I am not a sound
engineer. I am a musician so, I hate the programming part of this keyboard. So, I
do not do any programming on this thing, period. Your video here puts me to sleep. very boring stuff

Well, if you do decide to get into it I hope these videos can help in the future. Thanks for stopping by!

it's not exactly computer programming ... no worse than working in a DAW really but the payoffs are tremendous
