Russia is sitting back and letting Turkey weaken both the US and Israel. What is coming is going to take the heat off Ukraine, and Russia is going to finish the job there before focusing on Wes Asia. Putin plays chess. Well.
He's clear enough: there was a top deal between Putin and Erdogan (and probably other major regional actors such as Khamenei), the alleged redeployment to Libya is also very intriguing, as Turkey has major interests in that country and it is directly related to terrorism in the Sahel, which Russia is fighting against in the context of their profittable (gold mining) alliance with the new Sahel regional bloc.
Didn't Russia have anti -aircraft missiles in Syria and the Israelis were able to strike targets in Syria unhindered, who or what were those missiles supposed to be used against?
The Syrian gambit worked to Russia's advantage geopolitically, more at the time than in the long run. It was the grand announcement of the return of a superpower. If I were Russian, I would simply include Assad and Erdogan in a long list of Putin's mistakes (which are mostly errors of caution) and note that in spite of these errors, Putin has outplayed his Western opposition in almost every scenario for twenty-five years, and brought Russia from the brink of destitute dissolution to first-rank missile and nuclear power with an economy that is outstripping the West. You don't mess with this kind of success.

I wouldn’t characterize it as a “mistake” or due to caution but the fact that Putin and his clique is beholden to the same Zio power that controls the West!
@@samsonacc8081 Eight long years being deceived by the West's Minsk Accord ploy, which amounted to prep time for Ukraine in an open war with Russia. Even loyal sidekick Medvedev has suggested that Putin is too trusting of Western 'partners', In Ukraine and elsewhere.
No...Putin is smart to put his country as a top priority, you can't spread yourself too thin otherwise every thing will collapse. To leave Syria is to show the Arab States that they must cooperate to not be the next victim..
Pepe gave his opinion of what he believes happened, even on the influence of a Zionist lobby in Russia, but those are not facts but opinions assessments. Here's a historical reality Zionist don't build, they exploit, which eventually leads to weakness. Putin cut off external influence over Russia it was his first order of business when he came on the scene, this is exactly why Russia has firm footing because of a Moral Absent of Zionism in society that discourages the ills that Zionist have imposed on the western world. Zionist have been kicked out of many European host countries over their history, migrating from the caucuses to western central and Eastern Europe. And have left a trial of damage roughly 1200 years long.
Not to mention about the convoy of Russian Spetznaz being ambushed and all taken out during this sweep tells me there wasn’t really a deal before hand. It was after the Assad Regime gave up that an agreement or deal was then made. Other wise the Russians would still have their experienced Spetznaz bargained for. The math aint mathing.
US sanctions devastated Syria, along with illegal occupation of Syria's bread basket and oil fields. The US, as usual, is the head of this snake and must be stopped.
I'm sorry, but this is not Pepe as his best. This falls under the category of gossip, really. There's nothing much to go on, nothing that shed any light on the decisions around Russia's position on Syria. The pattern of Turkiye's involvement, from continuing supplying Israel throughout the entire Gaza genocide, to Erdogan's bluster and strong words, but doing absolutely Zero to aid, even obliquely, the Palestinians, to Turkiye's training and intel support for HTS, and finally their motivation to damage the Kurdish enclave in Northern Syria, points to Turkish duplicity and treachery. The US has been tentative participants, only because they aren't sure they could control the terrorists or Erdogan. But the US is undoubtedly aiding, funding, training, elements in the so-called FSA or SNA. Israel, ever the jackal, appeared opportunistic in both aiding and supporting the terrorists. But certainly, Israel was quick to sieze on opportunities to do a land-grab in the Golan, and secure a buffer zone on the Syrian border, and perhaps preemptively destroy heavy weapons left by the Syrian Army to pave the possibility for future military operations against Iran. Unquestionably, Syria is dead. Dismembered, overrun by terrorists, and likely become another ungovernable haven for terror groups for years. The only good that can out from this sorry episode, is blowback against the perpetrators of the dismemberment of Syria, namely the US, Turkiye and Israel, and also Qatar and the UAE. May the blowback be a thousand times worse than what happened to Syria.
The fall was not due to the strength of the enemies but the betrayal of the friends. Russia had the strongest faction in the Syria army under their command.
@@khalilkamal5714 I think you are trying very hard to believe what you want to believe. Russian presence in Syria is not in the army, but the air-force in Khmeimim and naval base in Tartus. The SAA has been hollowed-out by US sanctions for 12 years. Syria has no economy. Assad has no resources to work with. He's a good man, but not a great leader, and certainly not a military leader. I'm not an expert in the field. I've been following geopolitics intensely for the last 5 years. My impression of what happened in Syria was that a deal had been made and even if it looked like Iran and Russia had lost ground and Erdogan had betrayed them for his own benefit, the situation was not what it seemed. I am intrigued with the possibilities. I think it could be really good.
@@geopoliticshaiphong if anyone has been listening to your and other channels, it is quite clear, Trump’s son-in-law plans to turn it into Resort. What he said is that Russia doesn't see that long term plan, which is clearly naivety on his analysis: he's missing some key info such as the 2017 agreement to empty Gaza and build a variant of the Ben Gurion Canal.
@geopoliticshaiphong just that I heard reports Russia moved air defence assets from Syria to Libya which gives them air control over central Mediterranean sea and reports U.S recon air planes are monitoring what's going on . Africa seems to now be much more important.
Come on. Putin turned over Libya to Turkey years ago, and Erdogan has turned it into a military outpost to extend his extended neo-Ottoman empire across North Africa and down both the Atlantic and Indian Ocean coasts.
That's also very unclear to me: Russia is fighting Turkey in the form of Al Qaeda in the Sahel and all that connects to Libya, a country where Turkey and Russia have supported opposite sides.
There are enough satellites to identify all the locations of all assets around Syria. Why question who provided the coordinates? Barking up the wrong tree!
How doyou think Putin could have ordered Syrian soldiers to stop fighting without anyone knowing anything? And how could Erdogan give Ukraine to Russia?
As for what happened in Syria, finally more and more commentators have been emphasizing - which was quite obvious from the very beginning - that there must have been a lot of talks behind closed doors, and, consequently, besides those involved in the discussions, nobody knows anything. Everybody is just guessing according to their own interest, attitude, fear or hope.
@@geopoliticshaiphong Time will tell - exactly. But those commentators whose "analysis" does not exceed the opinion of an average informed news consumer (with narratives of betrayal, coward/underpaid soldiers etc) should rather stay silent because they can easily lose their credibility this time.

@@geopoliticshaiphong I'm just saying that the Syrian Army and the Russians pulled back very early on. Almost zero engagement. And this after Russia stepped up to the plate years ago and pledged to fight for Syria's Sovereignty. This reeks of a prior conversation being had by the interested parties. What that conversation might have been is not something I would wager on.
You're right, Awen: it was clearly top level treason, much as in Afghanistan in 2020 and in North Iraq in 2014. It all smells very fishy, especially considering that Russia also collaborated with the Turco-Israeli-Azeri aggression against Armenia last year against Iranian interests.
in 2004, geologists discovered a bigger oil field than Saudi Arabia located on the Golan Heights and Syrian border. Dick Cheney and assoc.have controlling interests. keep this mind when dealing with Turkey and Isreal.
Laith Marouf, a Syrian, has a very different narrative. In part he asserts that Russia used EW to jam the Syrian army's Russian made communications equipment.
he claimed that Russia betrayed Syria but i don't think he claimed that Russia jammed EW on the Syrian army's communication. He blamed Turkey for that, but he did think that Assad was under house arrest in Moscow before everything went down in Syria.
@geopoliticshaiphong Lsith stated directly that he has sources from the Syrian army who were making this claim and he obviously believes it. I remain agnostic. Is it beyond Russian realism to abandon a losing hand for a part of a new arrangement? Absolutely not. Does that prove anything. Again absolutely not. EW is ubiquitous at this point and Ukranians were part of this offensive and not half bad at jamming Russian equipment. So the mere fact of jamming is not sufficient in and of itself to prove anything. So. I remain agnostic.
Just so you know ottoman turkey isn’t something bad for Muslims. This opression of Muslims started after the fall of Ottoman Empire. Most Muslim would love for it to come back and unite under one leader. No country on earth would dare to attack Muslims again. Not in the way they are now the whole west is on Muslims like some hungry dogs.
Is Turkey going to replace "the axis of Resistance" in support for Palestine? Nope! Erdogan has been intensely cooperating with Israel since some 12 years ago and everything points to continuity in that relation: all that Erdogan wants is Kurdistan.
The Ottoman empire was just another colonial empire. It was to the Arabs (among others) what the Japanese Empire was to Korea and China. The Ottoman Turks were so hated that Muslims in Western Asia and North Africa welcomed the arrival of the French and British. Nobody in his right mind wants Turkish colonial occupation to return.

Putin has bankrupted his country while killing off the future by either chasing the youth out of Russia or sending them to the Meat Grinder.
Pepe's take is as murky as the situation in Syria.
Do elaborate!
He speaks and says nothing really
He's clear enough: there was a top deal between Putin and Erdogan (and probably other major regional actors such as Khamenei), the alleged redeployment to Libya is also very intriguing, as Turkey has major interests in that country and it is directly related to terrorism in the Sahel, which Russia is fighting against in the context of their profittable (gold mining) alliance with the new Sahel regional bloc.
It was obvious that there was a deal from the begining.
There had to have been one as this went down so strangely
Great reporting and analysis by Pepe.

Didn't Russia have anti -aircraft missiles in Syria and the Israelis were able to strike targets in Syria unhindered, who or what were those missiles supposed to be used against?
Yes.
Russian anti-aircraft systems are in Syria to protect Russian bases in Syria and not to protect Syria.
Why use the missile when the Syrian government already given up. It's a waste of armament

Thank you
Russia did all they could, you have to have a proper army that can fight. Assaad didn't.
Yes there seems to be a lot on the Syrian side we need to still know
the army was there corrupted asf bc they were very underpaid and their morale was super low
Ffs,they fought for 4 years before Russia came and 10 years on fighting entire NATO and wahabi killers.
Another very interesting and informative post by host Danny with his knowledgeable and well connected Pepe Escobar. 👏👏👍👍
The longer people like you persist in believing falsehoods and blame friends like Russia, for Syria's demise, the worse it will be for Arabs. Never taking responsibility for the corruption and disunity in the Arab World is why external powers can always manipulate and fragment you.

The comment is somewhat true but misleading. Syria and Iraq had been a base for terrorism from the day they were established by force by the distant imperial forces. I'm not an expert in the field. I've been following geopolitics intensely for the last 5 years. I am intrigued with the possibilities. I think it could be really good.

@@geopoliticshaiphong if anyone has been listening to your and other channels, it is quite clear, Trump’s son-in-law plans to turn it into Resort. Actually this is plan for the occupiers of Filistine. Anytime you call Filistine by any other name, you are legitimizing the occupiers.

Do you think the deal was Turkey gets Syria, Russia gets Libya. That ends the conflic they have had over these two countries.
I don’t think so. Russia doesn’t think like “get” . I think the situation internally in Syria is very complex
That's what the military command is for. Top generals would have known for sure but they don't talk much, certainly not about state secrets.

As for what happened in Syria, finally more and more commentators have been emphasizing - which was quite obvious from the very beginning - that there must have been a lot of talks behind closed doors, and, consequently, besides those involved in the discussions, nobody knows anything.
It all smells very fishy, especially considering that Russia also collaborated with the Turco-Israeli-Azeri aggression against Armenia last year against Iranian interests.

he claimed that Russia betrayed Syria but i don't think he claimed that Russia jammed EW on the Syrian army's communication.
@cityboyis2 no he blamed Russia for the jamming on the Lascaris pod.
We live in such interesting times. The alliances are forming, and the battles are on the horizon. It's crazy.
