I have always loved the choreography in this video. This is one of Mya's best songs.
But always wanted to know how did they end up in the desert 🏝️
@@angelahayward8693 😂😂😂
@@angelahayward8693 The video is inspired by Janet Jackson's You Want This video.
@@mr.checkyourself4672 definitely was!!! I do love this tho 🔥
@@antonio44yisrael Yes me to this video is iconic as well.
I miss music like this! Love the 90s and 2000s
SunflowerCutieDollz Mya was talented
Get into PC Music, it's not exactly the same but much of it is very much inspired by the early 2000s
@@raining_9690 she is still talented
i am like janet jackson come back to me 90s
Me 2 it was the best
Mya always killed her choreography and her vocals on point. Nothing short of a superstar ❤
Who’s listening to this in 2024 lol
Dope
Yep ❤😊
Aaa yass! ❤
ABSOLUTELY 💯
Me lmao I'm old 😂😂
I missed 90's and 00's Choreography
Elisa Ramos it was AMAZING!! So much better than the twerking that is “dancing” now
not only the choreography its also the way its shot. the camera doesnt stop moving and puts you into the dancing instead of the way most vids were shot at that time with just a static view like watching someone on a stage. i was and still am obsessed with the way this is shot
Diabolical Butler annemarie
They didn’t mind the budget it took to make it great
Elisa Ramos 💝
Thank you Issa & HBO for taking us back to our high school years tonight with this song!!!

This wasn't recommended, we all searched for this good old music.. I cant believe it's about 21 years
That bridge is dope af.
She is so gifted her voice is sooo beautiful. I have heard her even acapella she is amazing.
Kids. Just take a seat. Learn.
I agree with you. kids these days don't know what good music is. it's sad.
+Derek Valcan not all
Kids don't know what good music is take me I'm almost 16 and I've been listening to 90s RnB since I was little soooooooooooooo
Why do ppl always assume that kids don't listen to music from way back like my school thrives on this music people sing these songs in the halls and in every class, like most of the kids I assume that your referring too were born when these songs came out and grew up listening to these songs.
Facts
agreed
Mya definitely had that same chill vibe like Aaliyah(R.I.P.).
That angellic voice with sexy dance moves. Tricky Stewart had them hits man!!! 👏👏
This deserves more appreciation.
I was young to remember this. But the beat stayed on my mind to this day. And now at 2:30 pm Tuesday 10 January 2023 i finally found it..Great RESPECT to MYA...
VERY VERY NICE SONG....
This sounds like pretty much every Pink/Xtina/Missy/Ciara/Destiny's Child/Aaliyah song released between 1998-2001, and I love it.
It sounds like a Mya song! (And Ciara was a mid-00s artist).
That was my thought too the song is exactly like Destiny's Child bills bills bills
It sounds like a Mya song with her own style and flair on it.
I also miss those days.
one of the catchiest choruses let’s be real
She don't know me... she ABOUT TO KNOW ME! That part always makes me laugh cuz she got hard af all of a sudden.
its like the Ratchet jumped out. lol
It's funny how women want to fight the other woman when it's the man's fault. One hand can't clap. If it's not her it will be another woman.
butterliz876 yeah.
Hahha
This will forever be my jam
I swear every artist in the late 90's/early 2000's was required to have at least one music video in the desert.
Pretty much!! LMAO!!😂😂😂
Pajama Llama and have dope choreography
Janet Jackson's impact was real!
@@Vitaluv There were Videos in the Desert before Janet
Lol there must have been an exception.
Cmon ppl think. Think !
No bbl’s…the good old days
😕When you realize that '1996' is now 23 years ago.
Edit: Thanks for the likes!
Yea I know it came out in 2000. I was there when it did lol. But the reference is about the lyrics 'when y'all broke up in 96'.
And...woah. 1996 is now 24 years ago. Sorry ya'll.
I think this one was released in 2000!
Damnnnnn you dead as right tho
@@butterflyjessica1 it was, but Mya references 1996 in the song.
Lol. Right? I was 18 in 1996 and 22 in 2000 when this one made its debut. I am old as fuck.
There's college students that were born in 2000 now.
who's jamming these in '19?
Me!!! I really miss these late 90s/early 00s songs
Right heereee lol
Me too miss it The Great 19''
Right now lol
Me
this song never gets old
One of my favorites for real i love Mya
Happy belated 44th birthday to the beautiful and talented singer Mya!
g-string sticking out the pants, ah the early 2000's
lol
Supreme Clientele. n
omg that is so funny
Supreme Clientele lol yup
Supreme Clientele I scrolled just to see a comment on the g-string sticking out. Surely, here it is. 😂
Why can't we have songs like this in 2019. This generation sucks along wit the beats.
I agree!!
take off ur rose colored glasses
When people actually had talent and not someone off the street or a person who just makes stuip music.
It’s year 2019, every new popular song is all rap, I honestly don’t like rap that much
Jen u gonna have to deal with it old head it ain’t gonna change 😂😂😂🤫
I remember I was obsessed with this video because of the choreography. I couldn't stop watching, and the song was catchy, so that didn't help either. Good times. 21 years ago.
Young girls were singing this as if they had a man lmao we were so silly as kids
virgo I was one of those girls lol. And I felt so powerful.
I didnt even know what she was talking about she just look so cool with her low rise jeans and dance moves haha😂😂
Guilty 😅😅😅
That'd be me! I was 10, I just realized what the lyrics are actually about lol
facts lol i was only 10 when this came out. im 30 now, DAMN times flies smh
the choreography is everything CLASSIC 💯
Mainstream media/music really missed out great all round talent like Mya
Mya was so beautiful back then, my childhood crush.
As the other guy said, she look the same
Tinashe reminds me of her
Ezrad Lionel Back when everything was tighter...
Damien C lol man
who choreographed this need an award ...
Tina Landon, who is known for choreographing many of Janet Jackson's videos and performances. Even appearing in them herself. Plus a bunch of other artists, and she has the awards.
I know that’s a joke😂
Love Mya! One of my favorite songs of this era. 💯🔥❤️ Still listening on 2019!
Her solo dance💥💥💥💥
Does anybody else miss the late 90s/early 000s.
Old but gold.. Love it.
Who else? 🙏🏻🙏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏿
Mya was that girl and still is
I am so glad the top comments are not about what year it is but about how much Mya is talented
Whoops lol
back when music was still good
ugh, i hate it when people comment like this. it isn't very hard to search for good music, you just need to look further than the hitlists every single radio station jams every single hour. youtube and soundcloud are perfect for this
holy .sauron
no one makes this style of R&B anymore. Plus, the difference is that stuff like this WAS on every radio playlist back then
andreskizzo Thats because there is mostly crap on the radio these days... All the good music was back in the 90's and 80's for hip hop especially.. Rock was more the 70's & 80's but still it definitely isn't in this Generation..
They'll be sayin' that about today's music in ten years time.
always feel stil young every listen this song , enjoy it!
Your boyfriend's ex girlfriend is still calling him and you want an explanation. How do you handle it? Call up your girlfriends, have him call up his boys and then drive out to the desert for a dance off. // I still love this song, though haha
lol
Yaaasss bitch yaaasss!
***** your funny
Stealing Beauty Naturally!
Stealing Beauty LOGIC!
Here in 2020 coz of Insecure. Lots of memories of the great 90s/00s RnB/Hip Hop.
ua-cam.com/video/_fz8YL6ynP4/v-deo.html
I always loved Mya's voice and dancing. A true talent!
I remember this playing non stop on the radio. Middle school days. And studded belts are so early to mid 2000s. I miss these days. I miss these bodies. I’m so over the BBL cringe trend everywhere.
Battle of the Sexes in the desert and nobody brought any water, apparently...
Galen Hume lol
i believe she copy off janet in you want this video
Galen Hume 🤣🤣🤣
HAHA so 2000 with all that denim and shit. I love it.
Remembered this gem after the new Tinashe video. My favorite song as a 13 year old lol
I've always seen similarities between Tinashe and Mya
How didn't anyone get sand in their eye?
lol
how did everyone managed to not accidentally hit each other with those huge metal poles lool
they were wearing special contact lenses
+biohazard737
Maybe they're just not chicken shit and close their eyes and dance like normal people lol
I'm sayin lol
Haven't heard this song since i was in middle school but it randomly popped up in my head today. Good music never gets old
this song is special to me because this was the first album I purchased by Mya. The year was 2000. I was 11 years old, my uncle owned a record shop in East Baltimore. I was helping him at the shop during the summer 2000 and bought this Mya album. When my dad picked me up, we BLASTED this song in my dad’s 2000 Acura 😂 It was a moment I’ll never forget.
Girls in the nineties knew hot to look sexy with clothes on. Gotta love the 90s.
+gmcmim1 Misremembering a lot of the nineties. Skimpy clothing is a part of pop, both males and females.
+gmcmim1 This isn't the 90s, pop stars were half naked in the 90s, Mya is showing a lot of skin here.
+Tinker B So what is a lot of skin here? Showing your middrift LMAO. This isn't "a lot of skin" at all. Nobody said they weren't showing any skin back then, and we all know sex sells. Sex, drugs, and violence has been selling since the dawn of time. However, there was a major difference in how it was done and how it was pushed to the public. And no, not every pop star was doing it either.
This isn't the 90s though
+Sosmcs See You are right this isn't the nineties. However the song was recorded in 1999. The video was released on August 28, 2000. However the year was titled 1999 at first in the description box. So I am not the only one making mistakes. Either way they still had more class than a lot of video chicks today lol. So @Tinker B Mya is not showing a lot of skin. Showing a little cleavage, stomach and back is a lot of skin? Please. Get real. Mya rocked this video, dance wise and fashion wise. Kick rocks.
She killed that dance at 2:51
I completely forgot this woman existed.
Shout out to Insecure for bringing this back on last night's episode!
ua-cam.com/video/_fz8YL6ynP4/v-deo.html
Definitely "You Want This" Janet Jackson inspired. So cute.
Mya should have played honey 🤌
It’s impressive that she looks just like this 19 years later...
This Video is Forever to Me. It's speaks of Our past as well as Our Future!!!!
Thumbs up if you hear of on December 2019! 👊🏻👏🏻❤️
Forever obsessed with the 2000's dance battles between the ladies and the boys they were either trashing or crushing on. What a time to be a teen.
It’s hard to believe that this video was 20 years ago
Were kinda old but we'll be quiet🤫 that ok
Claudean Hart I know right
This beat still goes hard today!
Insecure brought me here Yazzz totally forgot about this Jamm!
Damn I was 15 years old when this song came out 😲
ua-cam.com/video/_fz8YL6ynP4/v-deo.html
Janet Jackson's You Want This💯
love this songs
Mya could have had a great career singing, I think she's a choreographer now thought
she, aaliyah & Ashanti are always my favorite angels🕯️❤️🔥🥂💘
This is one of my favorites by her…the lyrics, beat, dance moves, video
When music was a movie 🎥 all along spectacular scenes captivating 😭😭that Era won't be again.
The fact that Insecure has me rooting for the “ex” that Mya warned us about....🤯😂😂😂
ua-cam.com/video/_fz8YL6ynP4/v-deo.html
I love this song to death but listening to these lyrics, this situation is so messed up. I'd be damned if I have to compete with somebody's ex. You can have their ass if you want them so bad tbh. It's not going to be any "whatcha gonna do when you can't say no" situation with me.
exactly lol
Corijuan Reese haha, right! 👊👌
I agree but this how people from the hood or who seek drama in their life act lol
I cut off my ex after I realized she only wanted me to keep me away from a woman that actually deserved me....it was this song that helped open my eyes
One of the rare that didnt sell her soul to the industry
They broke up in 96 (20 years ago) lol
+Headchampion My age lol
CassieJazz96
yea my little brothers age!!! (im 30)!
+Headchampion If your ex is looking for you since '96, time to call the cops.
was she referring to jay z
did she dated Jay Z?
2000's 🔥💪☝️💯🙏
Idk why but I just love the line
"And you told me that she turned trick
When y'all broke up in '96"
😰
Same here too
Chillsss Every Single Time.
i use to like this song in highschool but then I got into a relationship where the guy screwed me over....and now this song makes me stomach feel sick.
burrochapadogrl yea I've been there. karma is real. just stay positive n endure, pretty soon ull feel good when you play this song again.
I remember hearing this song on radio when I was kid. I love being an 05 baby❤️ I had an amazing childhood. I love you mya! you’re one of my favorite music artists.
Anyone else laugh at the dancer's shorts that say "Wrong Way"? 3:20
yes I just laughed at that lol
S/0 everybody Bumping this Classic in 2022
Wow Tinashe does remind me of Mya, can't believe just thought of it. Also Aaliyah a little.
+Sean Tyler u really overdid it...
The Answer jojo was more of Aaliyah but never got her big chance because of her label. Love ya baby girl but ya uncle is a dick.
tim millea jojo was no Aaliyah in anyway shape of form sound look style nothing
NOOOOO to all of that. Don't even insult aaliyah & Mya like that
Mya is 1 of my favorite artist and she deserves to get her flowers while she is still with us. ❤❤❤
....CONDOLA singing this song to LAWRENCE ....
*Canola oil
Gondola, Condom, Condolences, etc.
Hahahaha
Mya been stick fighting since 13 years ago lolol. Video is a Classic on TRL. Nostalgic ya
back when there was real dancing in music videos not twerking shit
soooo very true ahhh it hurts man
So true. i miss it
Lol I was thinking of that while watching the video too. Now it's men with shirts off and women poppin ass
Love don't cost a thing
Tim will always 🙏🙏🙏🙏4️⃣♎ Mya & always will ❤️ Mya 💪💯.
Ahh, the 2000s. When basically all Big Singers could dance. The only people who can really dance nowadays are K-pop Idols and a few random people, that's it. It's the truth-
Yep, and it is so sad...
I misss herrrrrr❤❤❤❤❤
Tim is still a 🍭🍭4️⃣ MYA only ‼️..
I always feel like Tinashe should redo this with video and all. Major 🔑
+tataJunkie exactly
Mya wipes the flooooooooooooor with Tinashe's forehead sorry boo boo
Tinashe comes a very good 2nd.
sorry but nahh
No. That's the problem with this generation .. smh
The pop music style that many have forgot about.
When they broke up in '96, I was 3 years old. Lmao
+Sean Tyler lmao yep!
Cierra Foster me too lol
Mya should have been bigger. Beautiful voice, can dance, and her music was always classy. I mean she's the whole package
I remember the excitement when this banger came on 🎉
Mya went in on this song ,
90s - 2005 - When music, people and society were normal.
the video looks like 2000's version of who run the world beyonce... watch out the dance battle lmaoo
N and R d
Videos with group choreography set in deserts always take me back to watching Janet's "You Want This" as a kid.
Leticia De los santos yep!!!
No one seems to remember that Janet Jackson did this whole dancing in the desert sand first. Song: "You Want This"
Jan 30, 2024 and I'm still dancing to this 💚💚💚
I can’t believe this was 20 years ago!!!! Damn I was just a 23 year old baby when this song came out !! Oops 🤭I told my age!!😂😂😂 I LOVED THE SONG don't get me wrong.... But the choreography was to staged ! What I mean by that is they all danced too hard to the song... Every word in the song had a dance move! There were no natural moves to the video ! It’s like they were dancing FAST AS HELL trying to HURRY UP AND GET OUT THAT HOT ASS SUN!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I cant imagine out many takes they had to do over and over ! Redo their hair and makeup bc they were sweating HARD !!! 🤣🤣🤣 MC HAMMER HARD 😂😂😂Regardless I still Love me some Mya!!!♥️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
They had to dance fast. The beat of the song is fast
So your 43 now
It was perfect for the video and energy
#TheMinistry 2024 ..❤
