Only an obtuse and restricted person would think it's a delusion. Cinema , theatre, literature ... all of these mediums impact, transform, inspire and challenge people.
@@kanyetothe I really think that music/movies/literature can help a lot of people, me included. It's a great escape. I truly don't know if I would still be alive without music or films to consume. But I just don't think you can change the world through art, many great artists have tried.
Art has been utilized throughout human history to ignite social/political discussions and bring about change. It's an effective tool! The "escape" you experience when consuming art is only a small part of a much larger picture. You aren't just escaping, you are learning about yourself and the world around you.
Yeah sure. But again, nobody will change the world through art imo. Artists are trying for a very long time. I don't think art is the main answer to our society problems. But It can help ofc.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on just how much art influences our culture. I believe that our lives are affected every day by art (whether it be architecture, cinema, music, literature, sculpture, painting, etc.). A couple painters that really got people thinking/talking about social issues are Frida Kahlo and Keith Haring. In literature, Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe and The Jungle by Upton Sinclair come to mind. I know art makes my life better daily. 🙂
