I was trying to hold on with Charlie talking about his bullying but as soon as they hugged and both started crying I lost it. I’m so glad they have each other. They have great communication for such a young age. I applaud Nick for talking to Charlie about his mental health with so much care.
I held it together in this episode until Charlie told Nick that he used to cut himself sometimes. I lost it and was sobbing. This show is so important - Alice has created a masterpiece.
Excellent season 2. The last two episodes hit me really hard. When Charlie responds to Ben's , "sorry"...I couldn't stop crying. I dated a Ben and it took me awhile to undo the damage. I really think the scars Ben left Charlie runs deep.
I been getting the limited or special edition books, hard back, they don't send them out until the season that the book of it has been made/released, watched season 2 similar time to receive book 3
Nick's face falling after he sees Charlie off kills me. He was putting on a brave happy face for Charlie and you can tell he's SO in love with him as he watches him go... But ughh. It breaks me seeing his expression fall at the end and I want to hug him. I laughed when you said episode 8 was going to end on a super happy note haha
Kit is such a wonderful actor that you can really read Nick's mind after he closes that door. He realizes that things with Charlie are much, much worse than anything he'd been worrying about.
omg Luke ! same as you, the painting reveal got me and i wasn't expecting to ... This is why I love Hearstopper so much, for it's representation of queer romantic love but also our friendships that often, save our lives. (also, love that there is 420 likes on the video ahah)
The last scene also speaks of those of us who are older and dealing with past trauma. Unlike Charlie, I attempted suicide instead of cutting, due to the bullying. My dad was one of those bullies - verbally. This scene is something each person needs to really listen to. Those who never had a Heartstopper childhood sometimes carry those traumas into adulthood. They also bury those traumas. For me, Heartstopper has been helping me deal with those traumas in a positive way. One thing that threw me was a moment when I was S.A. at a Gym shower. I blamed myself and thought it was my fault. I never told anyone and felt I did something to deserve that. I have come to realize I did nothing wrong to deserve that and that I can finally let that go.
That last scene murdered me.. because I’ve lived it. I did the same thing at his age to distract from the pain. I came out as 🏳️⚧️ at 14, was relentlessly bullied, jumped many times.. it’s a miracle I’m still alive. They delivered that scene so well! I can’t wait for season 3! They start filming in October so it should be out next August or close to! ❤️🏳️🌈🪶🏳️⚧️🍂
My favourite bit of watching you is like you are only youtuber I know who walks in than already sitting there, makes me believe you aren't there for hours like others
this season was so powerful and so emotional i cryed in nearly every episodes its was so beautiful to watch and the cast and the writers and everyone who was in this and music its was perfect and u can feel the connection and feel there pain as well its perfect and i love it u can see how much he love char and care for him and i love it and i do agree with u nick is boyfriend that char need in his life that will stand up for him and just be there for him its was so beautiful to see this and kit and joe who played {nick & char} need to get warded for this its so beautiful scene .
I enjoy your reactions! This season really was so powerful. I cannot watch it without bawling 😭 my eyes out. Especially episode 8. I love these characters so much. It seems there is a lot of green tones this season and I think it’s because Nick and Charlie are a couple now and. Because 💛+💙=💚. 😊 Season three will be a bit deeper and darker, but I am confident Alice and team will do an amazing job! Excited about Vol 5 in December. BTW do any of you spot Alice in the background when they are setting up for prom? Also, the last song playing in episode eight is William Goa his sister. I think he is playing the piano and she is doing the vocal. It’s beautiful. They have a band called Wasia Project. That song is called “ ur so pretty” So many mixed emotions here! I believe Ben does recognize he is toxic to Charlie on the multiple occasions because after each one, he offers his lame apology and believes he truly has apologized to Charlie until during their study hall time Nick forces him to better see how much he hurt Charlie I, too, felt bad for Ben during his sincere apology at Lambert, but if he was truly truly regretful he would not still be acting like a douchebag. Actions will always speak louder than words. In real life, people will tell you and show you who they really are. Bash seems like a lovely human being and it would have been amazing to see Ben really turn around. For me, I’m sad and a bit scared for the Ben character because he is in such a dark place and literally has not one person in his corner. Hopefully, he really does see how rotten he has been and does make better decisions moving forward……especially now that he sees just how happy he could be. I understand he has an unsupportive home life but that doesn’t give him the right to be so nasty to people. That’s the part that is unforgivable. That’s why Charlie has no forgiveness for Ben. If Ben’s parents can’t accept and love him for who he truly is, maybe they are who he needs to walk away from until they can….if that’s even possible. FAMILY is not always who you’re born into. Seek out and find the right people and surround yourself with them. 💛💙.
Thanks ❤️ and I completely agree about the ben situation. It's a complicated gig but I'm glad the character had run its course (they did it in the right way too)
You’re very concise and eloquent in your commentary on LGBT issues, in a lot of reactions people have a tendency to pontificate too much out of excitement; there’s nothing wrong with that but the points are simple and it’s important that they don’t get lost in the good vibes. You do this very well, and I’m certain you reach people when you talk about that kind of stuff.
Thanks ☺️☺️ I know that it's a pretty deep subject but I thought it was best to relay my feelings on the issues especially after such intense final scenes ❤️
Again...the end breaks me, I'm a mess😭😭😭 and feel a little bit sorry for Ben and kit forced out again, i work in a hospital and see many kids like charlie, specially young boys and bye Bash ❤ and the difference between Darcy and Ben(both not out to her parents) is, Darcy is not an a****e like Ben and Darcy's homophobic and racist mother 🤬
binged your reactions of this today and absolutely loved them!! your reactions have been some of my favourites I've seen for sure. you seem very genuine and you can tell you really care about these characters
I always sing along with "Just Like Heaven" when it plays as well (I was singing to it in the grocery store the other day). This was lovely. I look forward to whatever you have headed our way next.
Hi Luke, thank you for the amazing reactions to the best Queer series I have ever seen, Alice is an absolute genius for gifting us such a beautiful, innocent coming of age with positive representation for us all. I have seen the series 3 times now, each time was like the first time, never a series grabbed me so much, raved about it so much my partner got me the books (he's my Nick Nelson). You have are a Nick Nelson yourself and delight to watch. Nick and Charlie are indeed cuteness overload (can't get enough of them) , Elle really blossomed this season and serves looks like no other, the series is so beautifully done I didn't even click she was a trans girl at first, Tao is not only a great friend but protective and funny ( the way he scolded Nick for the hickey was epic, Ruuuude) Darcy and Tara are so adorable I feel for Darcy but she will have Tara there and the rest of the gang to fall into, Isaac I was rooting for him and James ( I'm sure he's journey will be a really deep one) Ben is fighting with himself which is quiet sad knowing he's parents won't accept him. Imogen is a sweetheart and there will be some discoveries for her, Sahara will help her I'm sure, the rest of Nicks friends seem to be cool with him being Bi (actually) and I feel harry might change also. Tori is the sister we all want, hope David comes around, deadbeat dad, next season will be a tough one we Hearties need to stick together, support and hold each other as we do the amazing cast. Best representation ever! Thank you well done and keep up the good job! And I hope you find your very own Charlie or Nick.
34:19 Agreed! Yasmin playing Elle is helping to normalize being trans and showing that there is nothing wrong with being trans. I hope we'll still get just as much Elle in S3 as we did in S2. And I hope we see more of Naomi and Felix too.
Not me developing a harmless crush on a stranger in the UK… We only got baby tears last episode and I am hoping for proper waterworks here, just saying.
Hi mate, I enjoyed your reactions a lot 😁. It's been nice getting to know you a little bit. I hope you find what you are looking for, I hope we all do 😁💖
Ah, lord the scene with Ben always kills me. One of the hardest things to remember is that queer folk like Ben are suffering from homophobia as well - they're victims, too. One of the things that bigotry does is try to fill marginalized people with self-hatred, so that we carry around that bigotry, constantly subjecting ourselves and other people to it. Charlie's response was right on the money, too - please get better, figure out how to not hurt people, but do it somewhere else. The people you've hurt don't owe you absolution.
Also I'm very grateful to the writers that the worst people this season are adults (even if only barely, with David). I loved season 1 but honestly it was very uncomfortable just how badly I wanted to fight some children lol
Fun fact she didn't kick the phone for real as it is someone's house so not damage the wall but she said she really wanted to kick it out of his hand for real
I, too, am worried Elle might not be in season 3 much, but because she's going to be the new Doctor Who's companion in the upcoming season, series. Is it me or is Imogen possibly pansexual 🤷♂. They seem to have covered most of the spectrum and just cemented Issac as asexual, aromantic. We got the LGBTA; can add Q or the + to the group.
I was shy in high school and i think that's why i suffered a lot of bullying, some boys hit me or insulted me and i never defended myself because i was afraid, i guess that allowed them to continue doing it, sometimes they locked me in the bathroom so I was afraid to go to the bathroom during breaks. Now i'm not shy i can say i'm over it, but i still find it hard to relate to straight men or having straight friends...most of the time it was those straight guys who were bullying at school. I'm still a bit insecure about myself at times, and I have a bit of self-esteem issues. I guess those are some of the consequences that remained in me until today, there are always sequels on people. (I´m 25 years old now and i'm gay by the way).
Love your rections Luke, but can I ask you a question? I had a discussion recently and wanted to know your opinion... so a person from the UK couldn't stop bad mouthing heartstopper and naturally I talked with them and they mention some things i wanted your opinion on, they say things like hearstopper was extremely unpopular in the uk and a joke and that it made lgbtq people look ridiculous and all that, I know some Brits have been quite homophobic recently with the lgbtq hate wave, but is it really that bad?
Ben backing away from the rainbow makes me worry he will end up another closet case who married a woman and has kids but sleeps with men like so many men are doing today
There is a reason that these are called reaction videos. I think Luke’s reactions are on point and among the more restrained and least obtrusive of the genre.
Both actors deserve Emmy nominations for that last scene. So raw and emotional.
Agreed 👍
yes they do that what i said if u see my comment on this u will see i agree with u
I'd be 100% onboard for a deep-dive, summary video. Who's with me?
If you lot want it I'll do it, but it'll have to wait until next week because of other vids I've planned for this week

They certainly do, I think thise issues will be discussed in season 3 (I've not read the books as not to be spolit)

I’ve known too many gay men stuck in a marriage and a closet. That I fear is Ben’s lot.
