You’ve got some of the nicest wood I’ve ever seen! 😮 That ash is just begging to be split, and I love seeing your setup in action. This video has me hooked, can't wait to see more of your work! 🔥🪚
N/N trailers are definitely the top of line trailers out there . Load of oak at the house an a load of ash at the property along with I’m guessing another 15 cord of logs you already have down . I’m guessing there’s gona be a lot of splitting videos coming up . That load of ash has got to be the nicest load of firewood I’ve ever seen on a truck . .
Thanks, I agree! Definitely wish I’d ordered more! We will be seeing Jerron again though with other species! Definitely about to turn the splitting game on its head! I refuse to run out of wood this year!
Looks like a nice load of wood and I was buying 45 to 50 tri-axle loads of wood per year for the last 14 years. I got all my logs from 1 logger for that whole time before that it I was getting all the free stuff I could get but could not keep up with the demand for firewood. The 25 foot logs that Lester was getting for me was almost all of them good for my Dyna SC-16 sometimes I had to cut them in half. If my numbers are right them are 8 foot logs and should give you 6 rounds per log at 16 inches with no but ends but I was going to say if you could move the positive stop 1/4 inch long or short so as not to make much wast with butt ends. Don't wait to long to get that ash cut up the dryer it gets the harder it is to cut my logger asked me about that a long time ago and I said it is harder as it has no moisture in it he said if the guys are cutting a lot of ash that day they will turn up the oiler on their chainsaws. Tip do the same on your Dyna when cutting all this ash the chain will stay sharper a little longer not talking lots of oil just a little more than normal. I hope you get a bench grinder to sharpen them 404 pitch chains I did not like doing them with a file I could be wrong but I think they are harder than a normal chainsaw chain what do you think ? Stay safe I am out of the firewood business now and after 20 years I still have all my fingers I know some that don't retire with all your digits😊
Thank you! Appreciate the info. I haven’t sharpened any chains for it yet but did pick up some bits for my Granberg sharpener! Can’t wait to tear in to this ash!
@@hardworkingmanoutdoors I have a 50 year old granberg shapener and with a good file they come out razer sharp you got the newer one with the 12 voilt motor that should do a nice
Hydraulics are amazing! Whether on the log truck grapple or the Kioti FEL there is just no end to the manual labor that they save us!! Nice looking pile of logs! Thanks for sharing your experience.
That’s some beautiful ash. Ide be doing what ever it takes so you’re on the top of their list. I see that and I see dollar signs😂. Was that all standing dead? Good stuff.
Who would not want to work these logs up? I have never seen this many (all) quality logs in one load. I am from Southwestern Virginia and this makes me want to come all the way to Michigan to get in on this. Lol. You for sure need to stay in touch with this log provider.
I learned my lesson about glare ice on the deck of the trailer as well. I now keep a HD bill board tarp on the deck and it works out great keeping it dry and easy to shovel snow off .trailer. That’s a lot of great wood, good luck! 👍TCT
In the early 60s our family farm was home for a Massey-Ferguson 35. It was a wide front general purpose piece of equipment used in every farm application. Only repairs needed beyond normal maintenance was a transmission problem dad fixed himself. Great memories of great machinery. 😊
This makes me want to get a processor and just sell wood all the time. I love the look of that pile of logs!!! I hope that mixed pile is just as nice!!! And maybe even an oak load if possible... the possiblilities are endless man!!!
Awesome load of wood, you’ll love running that through the dyna, recently received 20 cord of ash and also 40 cord of mixed hard wood from twin oaks great people to work with
Just got back from Sandusky last night. It was a 9 Hour Dr. we went and looked at a 14 foot dump trailer. They are putting my order in later this week.
Interesting to see how it’s done in different parts of the country. Around here they use tri axle straight frame trucks and the logs are 24’ long poles. Will be ordering a couple loads of poles in a few weeks ourselves to run through on our new processor.
Heath, again the most proficient way to use that mechanical thumb if to position it on your side of what you want to pick, then close the bucket. Simple, and by learning that technique you will find it works as well as a hydraulic thumb. You just need to practice off camera, then come back and impress us. 😁
Brian, if we just wanted to run it straight through the Dyna I think we could finish it in 2 days. But we’re going to run some through splitters while waiting on a new wedge and one mobile job for the Dyna.
Hey Heath, when you say the property - do you mean a different place than your regular wood yard at your house? Dude, are you planning on going into mass firewood production and attempting to make a living out of it? Shit - go for it. Stay safe.
Beautiful load the only thing that would be better is if it was longer would I cut everything 16 ft for the processor just makes it faster but there’s two of you so that helps great content
Love your videos, I live in northern Ontario, Canada, I would like to know how much you guys pay for a load of firewood like this one, nice wood. Thank you. Rachel and Heath. xoxo
20 cords of Ash, because of the Ash borer. Ash usually grows fairly straight. Now it's a little colder there. That's not his first rodeo unloading those logs like that. 😮
I'm using my racial memory. What you do is with the backhoe you dig around, then you put a long chain around the root ball and rip it out! Lots of fun! Questions Heath: Do you have like a heavy 'tourism' area local? Like campgrounds and such? Lakes, Loons etc. Who buys it?
Nice load but that grapple coming would have made life for you easier in this video. What does a load like this run and why is everyone getting ash now. Is there a disease going thru them. Keep up the great videos.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors thar is super cheap for such quality wood. Think of all the time you saved and gas money. Rachel appreciates the time saved. Time to get her back into the videos.
Emerald Ash borer has been going on for years. Very few trees around here that aren't dead from it and the ones that aren't dead probably will be shortly. So many that I have on my property that get blown over or that I fell either the top or the butt is punky one or both most of them they have been dead for so long. Had the top to one blow down a couple weeks ago now that fell right on a parts Vette I have behind my body shop. Good thing I had most of the car stripped so it didn't trash the doors and other valuable parts or anything. I have been meaning to take that one and a few others in that area out just they are monsters and I could see how dead the tops were was scared to have the tops fall on my head. There was 2 others right next to the Vette that the tops blew out of in the past year too that missed the Vette and then I felled what was left the 30 foot or so that was still standing. Some of these though the bark is falling off in sheets. The one there is a piece of bark that is probably 15 foot long laying on the ground that fell off that tree this summer. I think the ash borer has moved on to other species now. I have been having problems with a lot of my maple, beech, and ironwood too not sure what is taking those all out but I have had quite a few blow down the last couple years or that I had to fell that were real good and dead. Monster hard maple I took down at the end of summer that was completely bark less not sure what is killing those off. Had another hard maple have the top fall on my trailer too the same night that the ash top fell on my Vette.
@@bradwatters996 That is what it is here. They say 8-10 cord and usually you get 7-8 and its $800-1200 range. I have seen some trucks with these big loads driving around though. I used to be able to get it for $600 delivered. I see posts on Facebook now though with prices down from what they were a few months ago. Lot of the same listings I see $100-200 less than it was. I have seen some that was really ridiculous for loads with bundles of slabs for $800. For $15 each bundle can get them yourself at the mill. Sure it will take a handful of trips but its a whole lot cheaper than paying $800 then a delivery fee on top of that lol. If you wanted slabs at least. Some of them will just give it to you to get rid of it. Those loads of slabs too is probably 5-6 cord making it even more ridiculous they want so much for it lol.
That dead ash load looks ready to burn right off the truck. That Dyna processor of yours will chomp through those logs with ease giving you great firewood with little waste. I’d like to know what you paid for that load and what you expect to get per cord when you sell. Enjoy your videos a lot, all your equipment is top notch but I worry when I see you falling a tree. 😅
