4/13/2021 USA Grandpa Bill: Rachel, one never knows what one will find when clicking on a video. I'm 73 years old and have made you an honorary granddaughter as the result of your forthright joy and presentation of watercolor. (Don't worry; I won't be a nuisance or creep.). These "hacks" you've shared with your joy of discovery are truly useful and I appreciate them. Thank you for being on UA-cam and sharing your love and life. You're about the kindest, most normal person I've found on UA-cam. In my world, the joy of discovery and creation is the reward for my interest and sometimes painstaking drudgery in the 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Your high quality of technical prowess is a fine standard for learning the craft, the art.
@@rachelparkervarner I have a spray bottle I bought about 15 years ago from Stampendous. It is a spray splatter applicator. Stampendous is still in business. I have never used it for artwork. But you might look into their products. They still make spray splatter applicator bottles. You can find them on Amazon. Hope that helps you. Update: Jerry's Artarama website has a Holbein spray bottle for watercolors. It may not be the dot bottle, but you can see if it is.
@@velvetbees oh cool! They still have it! I also found out that Tom Lynch now sells the bottles on his website so I just bought a bunch of those and will be doing a full feature on them in my next hack video : )
@@velvetbees I just ordered some Holbein bottles so we'll see! I got my Tom Lynch bottles and they work well, but my old Holbein sprayers are SO perfect.
you probably dont give a shit but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid lost my password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
I use Brusho and have found that a push pin inserted in the middle lid gives me more control when I sprinkle it on a piece and then I just pop the pin back into the lid to store it. Love these hacks especially the olive oil hack!
Rachel, I subscribed to Your channel immediately . You’re such a lovely young woman to watch and al the tips you give are really priceless thank you for brightening up my day ❤️
Re Gel Pro - It is great to see you supporting this Texas company. They have donated gel mats for Covid testing sites so workers do not have to stand on concrete all day. As someone with experience standing on concrete for many hours, I can assure you this is very hard on your back so a Gel Pro mat would be a godsend. They also produced face shields which they sold for less than cost and only to people who really needed them (i.e. not those wanting to profit from buying them). I live in Canada but after I heard about their donations, I bought a mat to support them and I absolutely love it. I also really enjoyed this tutorial. I'll try your Patreon next month.
In last several weeks I've watched bunch of 'hack' or 'tricks' or 'tips' videos, but none of them showed such plethora of ideas in one place. At least 5 I haven't seen before. And many videos are much younger than yours. So yeah, I hope YT algorithm will push this one further up, it's to worthy!
Rachel I’ve told you before that you are the loveliest young woman. And I’m sticking to it. 🥰I do enjoy you and appreciate all your great tips. As always thx very much for sharing you wonderful talent and watercolor knowledge. 🥰💕🐶💕😷🥰
Just put Daniel Smith Lamp Black in my online shopping cart. I've tried to get that furry effect - had no idea I just needed a different paint. Cheers!
I have a fishing tackle box too for my paint tubes, I agree that it needs to go! But I did spray paint it with gold paint to hide the olive green top 🤣
You are entertaining to say the least This is my first encounter with one of your videos. I found it was jammed packed with fantastic tips....my head is spinning.....I loved every minute, and gad I took notes! Thank you ...thank you.....thank you!
Thanks Rachel, first time on your channel! I need to get lamp black! My cat is the spitting image of yours-even drinks from my brush water glass! Lol. Now I can attempt to paint her!
Awesome!!! Your channel is so fresh, and I love your energy. You feel familiar to me, I resonate. Thank you for your tips and tricks, I will be binge watching you starting now. Paint on!!!❤
Great ideas here thanks so much! I've been looking for a better storage for my paints which I have in a plastic shoe box now. The makeup storage bin is one I haven't looked at and will have to check it out. Loved your little one and of course beautiful Sadie the perfect cat painting model.
@@rachelparkervarner good! I just subscribed and I'm checking out your content. I'm stuck on a plateau on my watercolor, so I am very happy I found your channel. 🙂
Lamp black and Brusho, are what I learned today, thank you Rachel. PS your son is super adorable, loved seeing your tutorials showing portraits of him on your video library
I've seen your stuff on Pinetrest and FELL IN LOVE WITH THE BIG FLUFFIES!!! Thank you for these hacks! Going to have to give that Brusho a try too! Thanks for the videos! I am going to sign off now and go binge on your stuff!
Hi Rachel, great Hacks - I really enjoy your channel - so glad I found you! As for Tom’s dot bottles, he has them again - he found a manufacturer a couple of years ago, so if you go to his website, you can order some.
For the wet spoon trick, I saw Billy Showells smooth semi-precious stone in her book and had a birthstone amethyst so I use that...but with a piece of paper napkin in between...it works too, but only at the end of painting! And I love Paul Clark's tutorials. ...he is also so generous and offers most of the drawings on his website free of charge...now how amazing is that!!! Thank you for this....will try the olive oil...a rubber eraser works very well too, even on plastic palettes 👍👍
