MCC is not dead. The community will carry it for years to come. Reach custom games are absolutely bonkers nowadays. So many great maps which never existed 10 years ago. These are recent creations made by their community. They are going to carry this game so it will never die.
I agree. I think as companies like Microsoft are searching for corners to cut and products to neglect, they will find a unique solution that mutually benefits them and the community: outsource to the public. There are at least 1 million of us die-hard Halo fans worldwide who would gladly put in pro bono work into the games we love. If 343 is having trouble finding the manpower to do basic things, why not make an open forum for players to contribute themselves? Because it’s volunteer work, they wouldn’t have to be compensated as much as a full-blown employee would, yet they would still find many applicants who would be willing to help regardless just to see Halo succeed. Modding should be proof enough of what the community can accomplish; I’m sure that Microsoft will greenlight this so they can use low-expense labor for projects that can make indirect revenue that they ordinarily wouldn’t be able to access. Man...i just turned 40. I remember waiting in line for halo ce over 20 years ago and being blown away. Its been a part of life for so long. My sons 10 now and my current doubles partner. Enjoy the good times young ones. Its not that times arent fufilling and good anymore, but it's never like when you're young and have no worries and just sessioning games with the boys. The music to halo ce is so beyond nostalgic for me.
About half your age, started as young as 3 with my dad as a co-op partner, right with you in one way. Still to this day, even with all the new and older games i've played, nothing compares to the memories and fun i had with Halo CE through Halo Reach, including Halo MCC's tweaks and new content. it's such an amazing series with an iconic story, memorable enemies, and by god, the best music across its whole lifespan. All beginning with that wonderful intro screen.

my dad is turnin 65, and the base gaming memory was playing co op and finding my competitive side, and that was supposed to be his gift, but it became mine, as that game just helped foster a level of ambition and desire to be better (I may or may not have been 6-7 when CE came out)

Truly saddening, but I am glad it ended on a high note. I can still vividly remember just how unplayable this collection was for what feels like the longest time, and frankly, during those times I thought it was a lost cause haha. The fact that 343 never gave up on it, to the point of making it a very great collection is rather astounding to me, their ability to support both MCC and Infinite simultaneously for a long time shows that they are, indeed, a much more established company. 343 are the most incompetent dev company I've ever seen. They have literally only ever released hopelessly broken games and take years to just barely manage to get things to a state they should have been at launch. They're a massive joke
Even though the support is dying down, there's still some things I'd like to see in the game such as full Campaign crossplay support. 343 should do what they did for Digsite and just grab some people from the community to maintain the game, work on any ideas, etcetera.
That's the smartest thing they could do considering they took 4 years before they started fixes and overhauls for it. The to do feature list isn't much at this point so all together it's kinda aggravating if nothing more is to come to MCC.
The game has been basically a live service game for the past 9 years while just being a one-time purchase. We were lucky to have received updates as long as we did. Especially since 343 has been working itself out of a gutter with Infinite's live service and mass layoffs at the studio.
I'm sorry, but I fail to see how the abominable and broken state it was in, before they restarted their efforts when they began porting it to PC, could be considered "live service".

Release a product barebones and/or broken but promise to make it better then years later, the game is in a much better state. So abominable and broken states are a big reason why live service games are so frowned upon. Hell, even Battlefield 2042 is making a comeback from its abominable and broken state. Fallout 76, Sea of Thieves, No Man's Sky, and Rainbow Six Siege are other notable examples. Live service is a game that receives continuous support for years. MCC whether it released abominable and broken or not, is that description.
It’s been a live service for 4 years not 9, quit fucking lying. They abandoned the game from 2014-2018 and didn’t start proper support until December 2019. Don’t start your revisionism bullshit around 343 and MCC, the state of more than the first half of its life cycle should never be forgiven or forgotten.

To my knowledge, some of the campaigns are still borderline unplayable in coop (especially H2). If they end support for MCC before fixing campaign coop disconnects, they most certainly did not finish the fight.
@@jordanranstead3016 I never had a problem with Reach, 3 or 4. I don't remember how 1 behaved. 2 would disconnect frequently even when playing on Lan. Especially anytime vehicles were arounds (which is a large portion of the game).
The bug fixes in July were very essential though especially for Halo 2 co-op campaigns. The Delta Halo and quarantine zone levels kept crashing on me a year ago but now they never crash at all. You should try again man, in my experience it's been a lot better. Let me know if you need a legendary co-op buddy lol
I feel you. I feel like MCC helped me get through after my dad died. It reminded me of how the Halo community helped me through depression back when I was in college.

I hope it’s not over. MCC is the only Halo game I play. There’s still so much they can add. The Halo Online maps, theres a bunch of maps recovered from the Digsite project across all titles that are complete or mostly complete, ODST multiplayer, a bunch of cut campaign levels like the H2 E3 demo, mod support on console, more menu backgrounds, add all the soundtracks and select what to play on the menu, art gallery and story boards for each game in the extras menu, warthog launch from the H3 LE disc, etc. So many big and little things. Too much to list. If they’re ending support because it’s a money thing they could have a community “go fund me” style of donation page on the game menu. That way those who want to can continue to support the game and donate what they can with a one time donation or monthly subscription. Once a goal has been reached new content can be developed and released. I’d pay into it. Also let the community develop content. It’s basically free labor from passionate fans. All 343 has to do then is vet the content before an official release. I’ll say it again, I really hope it isn’t the end.
Instead buying it, tell 343 you offer you help add content, fixed bugs or glitch and keep the alive and you give 70% of what the game made. 343 won't just sell the game to a band new company you need to show them you can do it, make a ODST game taking place when humans meet the covenant with permission. This plan should work better than buying a game
There was only like two or three people that shipped the MCC July update, the rest of MCC's team were either let go during 343's restructure or moved over to Infinite@@19972zach
My brother just the other day said he wished you could customize the menu music. I totally agree, and here are some other changes I'd love to see (but probably never will): -Firefight in Halo 3 (not ODST) -Lone Wolf as a Firefight map -Mark IV armor for Reach Spartans -Ability to purchase Spartan Points (maybe $1-2 each) without changing the regular ways of getting them. That way, if you're just a few points away from something you've been grinding for, some players might just shell out a few bucks to get it. Or if something in the Exchange comes up, but you're fresh outta SPs, you could still get it before it disappears. I really love the MCC, probably the best thing 343s done yet. To paraphrase Sgt. Johnson, they should "send [it] out with a bang."
I agree also for them to put Halo Modded MCC in Matchmaking. What good is it going to do when there is mods yet you can’t play online with others? They should provide one more season filled with content as of Elite armors from previous/new gen games in Halo 3. Halo Infinite inspired armor and a slew of weapons/vehicle skins. On top of that earn xp anywhere by playing anything. I agree send it out with a bang!!
if they sold a "main menu pack" with all the original game main menus as optional main menus. I would buy it as long as it wasnt overpriced. It's the only game that i'm surprised they have not added any monetization.

I believe they considered it in June 2022 on Halo Waypoint, in a post called "Bioroid Boogaloo", and scrapped the idea sometime in September 2022. I personally hated the idea at the time and still do, i'm glad it was scrapped.
Officially no H2A content beyond weapon skins and the Orion armor. No crossplay for Campaign. Nothing for Halo 2 classic except skulls. So many little issues that should have been rounded out.

God I hate that Halo as a title just keeps getting older and older as we go along. Hearing that song brought tears to my eyes because of nostalgia. It's so depressing a game we all fell in love with decades ago at this point is slowly just being pushed out the door because of its age. I know people hate remakes, but as game development tech and strategies get better and better, I'd like to see Halo preserved, remade again and again. It's an experience that should exist for decades to come, not forgotten like many other games.
I don’t think it needs to be remade, just polished and preserved. Let the new games continue on with its new fan base, but let us be able to enjoy the same experience that we had growing up (Also I think the modders have done a great job with keeping that same experience fresh), there’s little reason to remaster something like halo 3 when it already looks great.

I remember the launch was so bad people were in teamdeath match games with a random green team. Nowadays i cant get most friends to play halo unless its mcc. Times come a long way, props 343 cleaned up the shit fire
I will say as someone in the CE community that this community would very much have the capability to create new content/maps as well as keep it running with much of what you said with minimal dev support. That said, I can't say anything on the other halos, but I know there is so much that can be done that many of those in the community would happily do in order to keep MCC afloat.
Damnit. I really hope this doesn’t mean MCC mods on Xbox will forever be a pipe dream. As Mint himself put it, there’s easily a way for 343i and modders to earn some revenue by doing that.
Been playing the MCC every year since it's release, I even just bought it again for the PC 2 weeks ago. No cross platform is a bummer but the campaign will always be fun.
Not to mention getting some friends together and playing some custom games. I recall the pain that was trying to get Halo CE or Halo 2 going at a LAN. There was no legitimate way to get those games at the time. Now people can just buy and install from steam, change one network setting in MCC, and we're doing warthog runs in blood gulch in no time.
The greatest video game comeback in history. MCC is the perfect time capsule of our childhoods, and it is an excellent way for people who are just discovering this amazing franchise to experience these classics ❤
I've always known about halo and played them from time to time but the mcc really showed me what Halo was about and I love it. Its amazing how different it is from launch and how far its come.
Could it not just be a farewell to the employee? Perhaps they are moving on and the latest update was the last time that they alone will have worked on the game. Not necessarily an end to the live service of MCC. I hope it doesn't lose support.
Man 343 really does have some passion in them and it showed with MCC. Not dissuaded by the weak launch, it evolved into such a well polished collection. Halo is easily one of the greatest game series ever.
I really was just waiting to hear about the co-op being fixed before going back to play more. MCC is so important for the fanbase. I really hope it can have a new life and become fully playable.
Mod support for consoles would be huge. Also if they can somehow get Halo 5 in that would be a good impact too. I know it's super complicated, but if they can figure it out in the future then it would be awesome, especially to have H5 for PC officially.
I just hope they port Halo 5 to pc one day. Yeah i know people don't really like it but it's the only one we need for the full story that leads up to infinite and the gameplay looks fun
The Dream would be to have all the campaigns under one "UI Hub" and use Infinite MP to allow for different MP experiences within one game. Example would be Halo Infinite season 10 -Guardians, Community and 343 made Halo 5 maps with special playlists and armour unlocks. one can dream

Man, this hurts. I think the best thing they could do is to add modded servers to the browser so the casual population can last. Plenty of people just arent going to join a discord or whatever to play with others
I just wish we would get pre-game lobbies and the veto system in social games again. A party up system like the old days would also be great. I’ve always liked the more social aspects of the older Halo games which encouraged people to play together and try new things. I met a lot of good friends that way.

Nothing can replace the memories I have growing up with Halo, I would've never believed you if you told me something like MCC would come to exist, truly a dream. So whatever happens in the future, I'm just grateful for all that we've had
That sucks. There’s still a lot of bugs to fix, SBMM too strong, no Campaign Crossplay or individual Reach Elite armor piece customization, Invasion should be swapped to Casual from Competitive, the rest of Halo Online maps should come to Halo 3, and Halo 3 Anniversary should definitely be added as DLC.
Almost all of the Halo 3 campaign radio dialogue is completely silent or cuts in and out (at least in co-op). That's a major issue that has been around for a while. I don't see how they can just confidently say "yup we're done now" when there are big problems like that still in the game.
I mean basic features for a nostalgia oriented project such as classic main menu background+music customization couldn't be implemented in almost 10 years so we can't be surprised. They released it in such a broken state in 2014 and took a good 1-3 years to stabilize the product that potentially 1000s of long term players never returned. Features for the grindy-oriented players such as the progression system weren't added for around 4+ years after release. We still don't even have crossplay for all the campaigns in between PC and Xbox. I have played this for 100s of hours but I cannot ignore how this product as a whole has felt like an afterthought and even a throwaway project since release.
A heck of a run. Honestly, major respect for all of the updates and years of memories. They supported and re-made games that we grew up with as children. Without new revenue, this was an inevitable end.
I hope if there is a mod list for consoles, the chief among them are Ruby of Blue’s Halo Rebalanced series, the High Charity restored warthog run for Halo 2 and a console MCC port of SPV3.3
Very sad news, but 343 should absolutely be proud of what they accomplished with the MCC. It would be nice if they figured out a way to turn over responsibility for playlist creation to the players, like you said.
i think what would have been cool is if you can choose which game menu screen you want to load up on when you start the game. Lots of people have grown up with certain halo games and seeing the main menu from their favorite game could make them come back to halo because of nostalgia.
I get being against monetizing cosmetics and whatnot, but the fanbase was seething at the notion of having the OPTION to buy season points. Not even locking them behind a pay wall, literally leaving the current unlock methods untouched and adding the option ot purchase along with it. The main thing killing modern Halo is the "fan" base

They upscaled them all to 4K, put them on PC, unlimited framerates, FOV, weapon display offsets and everything, mod support, new options to change your controls, volume levels, whatever else, new skulls, etc. You "fans" should stop caring about the MCC as a whole if they're "not their games" and go back to only playing the Bungie titles. Stop being entitled and stop killing Halo.
It feels like yet another slap in the face. 10 seasons we were promised. We were so close... I held unreasonable amounts of hope that there'd be cross-play campaign at the end of the tunnel. Maybe elites would get some more love in season 9, letting the honor guard armor be worn, or even letting flood infected vehicles be a thing in H3:ODST firefight, where they can operate vehicles. QoL changes to fix issues XBO has with non-"native" customization options and oddly Sandtrap. Or up the amount of games left before a 5m ban is applied. Seriously, crashing from the game and being banned is senseless and unfair to those it affects (At least now they have a rejoin feature). I digress, there was more to be done, but equally, it has come a very long way. I'm at least satisfied that they didn't give up on the MCC when they easily could have. They didn't give up on the game. Nor will the community. The MCC will sing victory, everlasting.
I would love for there to be a way for paid mods that could be used on consoles too. I think it’d be a great way for the game to stay alive content wise.
People are making a bigger deal out of this than they really should. There is mod support and custom games. Every game works to a level above emulation and multiplayer in every game is intact. You cant really complain. My wishlist is coop reworking for all games particularly CE and skins for reach and more skins for halo 4. If they would just keep a skeleton crew making seasons for mcc i would be willing to pay for the season passes
Halo 2 multiplayer, will be something I revisit, throughout my entire life. I hope they always have some sort of playable version, that has the nostalgia, of an incredible period of time.
Even though the game is a great collection and I keep playing weekly, I can think of so many things missing from the MCC. Apart from the mods you mentioned (and cut content which MUST be playable on Xbox too, as it’s the console on which Halo was born in the first place) and the OG menus and music selector (I love the idea) I would love to have some kind of rotational content, not just playlists but also customization items!

It wasn't even locking any content behind paywaylls, it was literally having the option to pay for season points alongside the normal unlock methods. These are the same people that insist that bloom is random and removes skill so that they can avoid having to learn how to play well
Mod support would have been absolutely huge for consoles, especially if they monetized them, I think that would have been a great solution for a source of revenue.
I mean it’s still playable, it’s not like the servers are going to be shut down. It’s a shame no more content updates, but there’s already so much, plus all the mods and user created content will keep us entertained for years to come.
Still playing MCC, don’t ever touch infinite. MCC pretty much IS Halo at this point, and being able to hop on a Halo CE game at 1am and relive system link memories is something awesome.
Custom games browser for mods would be huge. playlist with community/cut maps would be pretty cool even if they rotated weekly. Ideally I would be happy with more H2A maps as I think that was the best halo multiplayer experience, even though it was under appreciated.
If only they could have had one final update to include the original manuals for preservation sake, push fixes for visuals and gunplay and AI movement and Especially the spoiler loading screens (should bring back the OG loading screens from the games).
The sad thing is that if this is true, the Steam Deck will be sorely missing out on the Co-Op campaign aspect of the Master Chief Collection. There is currently a file syncing issue going on right now between some .dll files and they have not been fixed at all yet.
The one thing I wish they did but sadly it'll never happen I guess given the devs moving on, was split screen campaigns on the PC. Probably my favorite memories to this day when I was a wee little lad, playing the Halo campaign with my friend couch co op. We really don't have that as much now a days, couch co op. Something we need more of

Hackers are probably gonna go rampant in the next year or so. They've done a great job with it and salvaged an otherwise broken collection (was a disaster at launch). Genuinely sad but moreso pissed

Even though the support is dying down, there's still some things I'd like to see in the game such as full Campaign crossplay support.
343 should do what they did for Digsite and just grab some people from the community to maintain the game, work on any ideas, etcetera.
That's the smartest thing they could do considering they took 4 years before they started fixes and overhauls for it. The to do feature list isn't much at this point so all together it's kinda aggravating if nothing more is to come to MCC.

The game has been basically a live service game for the past 9 years while just being a one-time purchase. We were lucky to have received updates as long as we did. Especially since 343 has been working itself out of a gutter with Infinite's live service and mass layoffs at the studio.
I'm sorry, but I fail to see how the abominable and broken state it was in, before they restarted their efforts when they began porting it to PC, could be considered "live service".

Fallout 76, Sea of Thieves, No Man's Sky, and Rainbow Six Siege are other notable examples.
Live service is a game that receives continuous support for years. MCC whether it released abominable and broken or not, is that description.

To my knowledge, some of the campaigns are still borderline unplayable in coop (especially H2). If they end support for MCC before fixing campaign coop disconnects, they most certainly did not finish the fight.

@@jordanranstead3016 I never had a problem with Reach, 3 or 4. I don't remember how 1 behaved. 2 would disconnect frequently even when playing on Lan. Especially anytime vehicles were arounds (which is a large portion of the game).
The bug fixes in July were very essential though especially for Halo 2 co-op campaigns. The Delta Halo and quarantine zone levels kept crashing on me a year ago but now they never crash at all. You should try again man, in my experience it's been a lot better. Let me know if you need a legendary co-op buddy lol

I hope it’s not over. MCC is the only Halo game I play. There’s still so much they can add. The Halo Online maps, theres a bunch of maps recovered from the Digsite project across all titles that are complete or mostly complete, ODST multiplayer, a bunch of cut campaign levels like the H2 E3 demo, mod support on console, more menu backgrounds, add all the soundtracks and select what to play on the menu, art gallery and story boards for each game in the extras menu, warthog launch from the H3 LE disc, etc. So many big and little things. Too much to list. If they’re ending support because it’s a money thing they could have a community “go fund me” style of donation page on the game menu. That way those who want to can continue to support the game and donate what they can with a one time donation or monthly subscription. Once a goal has been reached new content can be developed and released. I’d pay into it. Also let the community develop content. It’s basically free labor from passionate fans. All 343 has to do then is vet the content before an official release. I’ll say it again, I really hope it isn’t the end.

Instead buying it, tell 343 you offer you help add content, fixed bugs or glitch and keep the alive and you give 70% of what the game made. 343 won't just sell the game to a band new company you need to show them you can do it, make a ODST game taking place when humans meet the covenant with permission. My brother just the other day said he wished you could customize the menu music. I totally agree, and here are some other changes I'd love to see (but probably never will):
-Firefight in Halo 3 (not ODST)
-Lone Wolf as a Firefight map
-Mark IV armor for Reach Spartans
-Ability to purchase Spartan Points (maybe $1-2 each) without changing the regular ways of getting them. That way, if you're just a few points away from something you've been grinding for, some players might just shell out a few bucks to get it. Or if something in the Exchange comes up, but you're fresh outta SPs, you could still get it before it disappears.
I really love the MCC, probably the best thing 343s done yet. To paraphrase Sgt. Johnson, they should "send [it] out with a bang."

They should provide one more season filled with content as of Elite armors from previous/new gen games in Halo 3. Halo Infinite inspired armor and a slew of weapons/vehicle skins. On top of that earn xp anywhere by playing anything.

I believe they considered it in June 2022 on Halo Waypoint, in a post called "Bioroid Boogaloo", and scrapped the idea sometime in September 2022. I personally hated the idea at the time and still do, i'm glad it was scrapped.

God I hate that Halo as a title just keeps getting older and older as we go along. Hearing that song brought tears to my eyes because of nostalgia. It's so depressing a game we all fell in love with decades ago at this point is slowly just being pushed out the door because of its age. I know people hate remakes, but as game development tech and strategies get better and better, I'd like to see Halo preserved, remade again and again. It's an experience that should exist for decades to come, not forgotten like many other games.

Let the new games continue on with its new fan base, but let us be able to enjoy the same experience that we had growing up (Also I think the modders have done a great job with keeping that same experience fresh), there’s little reason to remaster something like halo 3 when it already looks great.

I will say as someone in the CE community that this community would very much have the capability to create new content/maps as well as keep it running with much of what you said with minimal dev support. That said, I can't say anything on the other halos, but I know there is so much that can be done that many of those in the community would happily do in order to keep MCC afloat.

Been playing the MCC every year since it's release, I even just bought it again for the PC 2 weeks ago. No cross platform is a bummer but the campaign will always be fun.

Man 343 really does have some passion in them and it showed with MCC. Not dissuaded by the weak launch, it evolved into such a well polished collection. Halo is easily one of the greatest game series ever.

The Dream would be to have all the campaigns under one "UI Hub" and use Infinite MP to allow for different MP experiences within one game. Example would be Halo Infinite season 10 -Guardians, Community and 343 made Halo 5 maps with special playlists and armour unlocks.

I just wish we would get pre-game lobbies and the veto system in social games again. A party up system like the old days would also be great. I’ve always liked the more social aspects of the older Halo games which encouraged people to play together and try new things. I met a lot of good friends that way.

That sucks. There’s still a lot of bugs to fix, SBMM too strong, no Campaign Crossplay or individual Reach Elite armor piece customization, Invasion should be swapped to Casual from Competitive, the rest of Halo Online maps should come to Halo 3, and Halo 3 Anniversary should definitely be added as DLC.

Almost all of the Halo 3 campaign radio dialogue is completely silent or cuts in and out (at least in co-op). That's a major issue that has been around for a while. I don't see how they can just confidently say "yup we're done now" when there are big problems like that still in the game.
I mean basic features for a nostalgia oriented project such as classic main menu background+music customization couldn't be implemented in almost 10 years so we can't be surprised.
They released it in such a broken state in 2014 and took a good 1-3 years to stabilize the product that potentially 1000s of long term players never returned.
Features for the grindy-oriented players such as the progression system weren't added for around 4+ years after release.
We still don't even have crossplay for all the campaigns in between PC and Xbox.
I have played this for 100s of hours but I cannot ignore how this product as a whole has felt like an afterthought and even a throwaway project since release.
In the hands of the community, this game will never die.

They supported and re-made games that we grew up with as children. Without new revenue, this was an inevitable end.
I hope if there is a mod list for consoles, the chief among them are Ruby of Blue’s Halo Rebalanced series, the High Charity restored warthog run for Halo 2 and a console MCC port of SPV3.3

i think what would have been cool is if you can choose which game menu screen you want to load up on when you start the game. Lots of people have grown up with certain halo games and seeing the main menu from their favorite game could make them come back to halo because of nostalgia.

I get being against monetizing cosmetics and whatnot, but the fanbase was seething at the notion of having the OPTION to buy season points. Not even locking them behind a pay wall, literally leaving the current unlock methods untouched and adding the option ot purchase along with it.

They upscaled them all to 4K, put them on PC, unlimited framerates, FOV, weapon display offsets and everything, mod support, new options to change your controls, volume levels, whatever else, new skulls, etc.
You "fans" should stop caring about the MCC as a whole if they're "not their games" and go back to only playing the Bungie titles. Stop being entitled and stop killing Halo.

It feels like yet another slap in the face. 10 seasons we were promised. We were so close... I held unreasonable amounts of hope that there'd be cross-play campaign at the end of the tunnel. Maybe elites would get some more love in season 9, letting the honor guard armor be worn, or even letting flood infected vehicles be a thing in H3:ODST firefight, where they can operate vehicles. QoL changes to fix issues XBO has with non-"native" customization options and oddly Sandtrap. Or up the amount of games left before a 5m ban is applied.
Seriously, crashing from the game and being banned is senseless and unfair to those it affects (At least now they have a rejoin feature).
I digress, there was more to be done, but equally, it has come a very long way. I'm at least satisfied that they didn't give up on the MCC when they easily could have. They didn't give up on the game. Nor will the community.

People are making a bigger deal out of this than they really should. There is mod support and custom games. Every game works to a level above emulation and multiplayer in every game is intact. You cant really complain. My wishlist is coop reworking for all games particularly CE and skins for reach and more skins for halo 4. If they would just keep a skeleton crew making seasons for mcc i would be willing to pay for the season passes
Halo 2 multiplayer, will be something I revisit, throughout my entire life. I hope they always have some sort of playable version, that has the nostalgia, of an incredible period of time.
Even though the game is a great collection and I keep playing weekly, I can think of so many things missing from the MCC. Apart from the mods you mentioned (and cut content which MUST be playable on Xbox too, as it’s the console on which Halo was born in the first place) and the OG menus and music selector (I love the idea) I would love to have some kind of rotational content, not just playlists but also customization items!
Personally I've had my fill of MCC, the fact the 343 managed to squeeze another 10 years of support for the old Halo games is an achievement.

Mod support would have been absolutely huge for consoles, especially if they monetized them, I think that would have been a great solution for a source of revenue.
You playing halo multiplayer has the same effect as these Minecraft parkour videos. I also get so focused!
I mean it’s still playable, it’s not like the servers are going to be shut down. It’s a shame no more content updates, but there’s already so much, plus all the mods and user created content will keep us entertained for years to come.
Still playing MCC, don’t ever touch infinite. MCC pretty much IS Halo at this point, and being able to hop on a Halo CE game at 1am and relive system link memories is something awesome.
Custom games browser for mods would be huge.
playlist with community/cut maps would be pretty cool even if they rotated weekly.
Ideally I would be happy with more H2A maps as I think that was the best halo multiplayer experience, even though it was under appreciated.
It needs more tbh. They barely added much for Halo 1 and could have added more to the other Halos.
Not the first time they've said this. They better be just taking a break and focusing on Infinite. Then get back to MCC again in a few years.
If only they could have had one final update to include the original manuals for preservation sake, push fixes for visuals and gunplay and AI movement and Especially the spoiler loading screens (should bring back the OG loading screens from the games).
The sad thing is that if this is true, the Steam Deck will be sorely missing out on the Co-Op campaign aspect of the Master Chief Collection. There is currently a file syncing issue going on right now between some .dll files and they have not been fixed at all yet.
The one thing I wish they did but sadly it'll never happen I guess given the devs moving on, was split screen campaigns on the PC. Probably my favorite memories to this day when I was a wee little lad, playing the Halo campaign with my friend couch co op. We really don't have that as much now a days, couch co op. Something we need more of
As someone uninterested in Infinite I am honestly heartbroken. This is sad, really sad. I'm glad it was pumped full of content leading up to it at least. Hackers are probably gonna go rampant in the next year or so. They've done a great job with it and salvaged an otherwise broken collection (was a disaster at launch). Genuinely sad but moreso pissed

MCC should never be monetized in any way shape or form other than the initial purchase. Also fuck “paid mods.”
I really hope we get to see the results of all the hardwork the digsite team put in. If they continue to let small teams of trusted community members, work on the game, it'd be amazing
Can’t believe mcc is going, it was the first halo game I ever played, specially halo 4 I have been playing it since it released happy for the memories, that being said campaign crossplay co-op needs to be added
This was my first ever halo game, this is sad, however I understand, it is a 9 year old game.
