@Groovymotion where does it say anything about finland to Scotland? Dudes name is Jari and he rowed across the Atlantic east to west and then back, going from Canada and arriving in Scotland when this was filmed.
@@jonnytoast the video only says he's finnish and that he rowed accross the atlantic. Nothing about going back. So if we have to research every story...from the info they are giving, my comment is valid. He is arriving in scotland. After crossing the atlantic. And he's finnish. Wanna picture that in your mind? Let me give you that scenario. I'm korean, arriving in london after crossing the baltic sea. How did i do that?
He isn't weak, this is called sea legs, after the continuous movement of the boat at sea you body adjust so when back on land your body has to readjust back.
Edit 2: I'm gonna unfollow this thread now, so no need to tag me anymore. I can see that I misremembered and the actual amount of muscle loss pr. day of inactivity is 2% not 20%. Now, please, you're all writing the exact same comment in reply to this one, so please just read the first 10 comments before replying. You don't have to say the same thing that jas been said a couple dusin times now. I believe muscles not being used loses 2% strength each day. Now calculate that for 75 days. That's why people who have been in a coma or bedridden for even a short while needs training to get on their legs again. Edit: I can see people disagree with this either because they don't get the math and think it would equal a 100% loss over 50 days or because they disagree with this being the case of what is happening in the video. I'm not saying it's what's happening in the video, I was simply replying to the comment above. The 2% loss of muscle pr. day is stats from elder care and rehabilitation. It's why it is so important for elderly people and people on rehabilitation to exercise to regain or keep muscles working. The math of 2% pr. day, for those who doesn't get it, goes as follows; Day 1, 100% Day 2, 98% Day 3, ~96.4% Day 4, ~94.92% etc. That's how the math works out.
@Floedekage This may be a factor in some situations, but this chap has just rowed the Atlantic, I don't think you could be using your muscle groups much more, this is including the leg muscles that get work extensively when rowing.

I've just got done researching this as best I can and I think your grandad told you a tall tail or at least embellished the truth. I've looked into how hard it would be to repair a vessel underwater while at sea and it would be nearly impossible for 1 person to do it and continue traveling, besides that, none of the methods seemed to completely patch the boat without takin on any more water. I only found 1 account of a man named Ronald Mitchell sailing from Canada to Scotland and he flew back. This was in 85 about 35 years ago. Me thinks you still believe in Santa clause.
