I needed to find a good proportional brake controller for pulling our teardrop. This was very helpful information, Thank You! I had ordered a Reece controller, which wasn't proportional, but had second thoughts about it and canceled my order. Glad I did. Your choice, the Prodigy P2 Controller, sounds like it will be a perfect match for us as well, I'll use your link. Happy Camping! 🏕
Sadly, with my 5th wheel, I have gone thru 2 Prodigy 2's and still get slow speed grabby jerky brakes. I have to constantly change boost settings depending on road speed. Below 40 its B1 and above 40, like freeway driving, B2. Very annoying and can be dangerous if I forget to up the boost on the freeway. Glad yours got resolved.
We have a 2018 Casita travel trailer. Our brakes started momentarily locking up when coming to a stop. Sometimes we had to drive in reverse for a foot or two to get the brakes to unlock with a loud thunk. I removed the wheel, lubed everything up and it seemed to help ….. for awhile. The next thing I tried was to jack the trailer up and adjust the brakes so that they were rubbing on the drum when you spin the wheel by hand (it was free spinning prior to the adjustment). This seems to have done the trick. I think the arc of travel for the brake mechanism may have been too much and it was hanging up.
@@rvtipsandbitsneverstoplear3895 Yes, its eliminates bucking and allows the trailer to articulate more natural than a a Ball Hitch can! And there's no way it can be ejected like a Ball Hitch!
Exactly, we have two wranglers and the tow shop added the tow set up or Tab on a new wrangler , I assumed what they used would be good, plus the name, curt, and i had it added to the other wrangler but…..not. Thanks for watching!
This is not a fix! You simply went and bought a replacement. Duh! If you have a problem that you are able to figure out and correct, that is worth people's valuable time to watch--this is not.
This was my journey with the brake issue and everything I tried until finding a different controller. It was very frustrating. I had the original controller installed by a dealer, would not of thought it was the problem. Ultimately I did it myself and wanted to share , not that hard to do. I share my experiences.
@@rvtipsandbitsneverstoplear3895 Wow, he is nasty. Good video, I guess it shows, its usually worth spending the extra money. I am thinking of a Prodigy RF wirless brake controller, can use it with more than one vehicle, and no wiring or install to do in vehicle.
I am so glad you were able to troubleshoot the problem. Your videos are always so clear and get to the point!
Thank you!

Great! I was so relieved once I made the switch, good luck!

rewarding to figure out what it is! safe travels!
So did your Jeep come with a brake controller or you added one? If you added one, did you already have the 5 pin?
We added brake controller and we actually used the jeep to pull a trailer and a jet ski so we had both on back
Have you ever considered changing from a Ball Hitch to something along the lines of a Lock & Roll Hitch?
Missed this one, I have looked at those, you have good experiences with this set up? Thanks!

7 min to you but hours of frustration of being told it was all kinds of things to do, its a process and I shared it.
A 7 min video to say that you swapped the cheap brake controller for a better one??
So the lesson is don't cheap out on break controller.
