RULE NO. 3
Create your own system of practice.
After learning all different situations that require a particular Russian case, yo need to create your system of practice. And by practice, I don’t mean grammar tasks. I mean a real research. For example, when you read a blog, a post, or listen to a new Russian song, you need to research for these situations that you have already learned. When you are trying to find these different situations you need to keep in your mind different trigger words or prepositions, that require a particular case. Next, you can aply a particular colour to each Russian case. For example:
NOMINATIVE- blue
GENETIVE- red
DATIVE- green
ACCUSATIVE- yellow
INSTRUMENTAL- purple
PREPOSITIONAL- brown.
When you read a new text you need to highlight these words and triggers in a particular colour that you have applied to this case. It does helps a lot to learn Russian cases, because it is not a simple memorisation. You actually need to analse the text and need to find these cases yourself.
Make sure to find texts on topics that you like.
RULE NO. 4
Have fun leraning Russian cases.
When you are learning Russian cases it is important to have fun, otherwise you will get so bored that you will not want to continue learning these cases.
Russian grammar is boring overall, but you can always find some really interesting activities that will motivate you to learn Russian cases.
For example, Russian songs. That way you are not only boosting your vocabulary but you are also learning Russian grammar, and improving your pronunciation. You can also watch Russian movies. And again you need to analyze each line and find Russian cases. Always try to use phrases in practice, either by talking or chatting with a Russian native speaker on face book, or with a Russian friend, or with your teacher on face book. Or even you can talk to the dog in Russian. The main thing is to practice by creating phrases.

It seems that the main purpose of the video is to promote the seeling of the offered book. The other advices for instance learning grammar by listening to russian music may help students on a very advanced level. There are a lot of competitive videos of other native teachers with much better and effectiv, tips on the way of easy learning this topic of russian grammar.
In the past I also had the idea of highlighting cases in colors. My choices were: black (no color) for nominative, Blue = accusative, yellow = instrumental, pink = dative (hmm) and green = prepositional. At least we totally agree on genitive!
BTW, I totally loved your vlog!

This is why declension of words is very important in Russian language.
Each word serves a specific rule. If we don’t use the declension, we will be lost. We will not understand what a person wants to say. So if you want to speak Russian language, you will have to learn Russian cases. But you need to learn the Russian cases the smart way. Because, if you learn Russian cases the
Traditional way, you may be stuck for one up to five years without being able to speak properly.
And here is the key rules to learning Russian cases the smart way:
Rule No. 1: Don’t learn all Russian cases at once.
You need to dedicate a substantial time to learning each case properly; that is all situations when a particular case is needed. Each case is a system. If you don’t know all situations when a particular case is applied, you can not see the whole picture, that can actually help you to better understand when we use these cases.
As a teacher, I found really frustrating that I could not find one good book with full explanations for each case. That is why I decided to create my own guide for each case- a real comprehensive guide that covers all information for each case.
And I am excited to tell you that I have recently received my first book on Russian cases, called:
“The comprehensive guide to Russian Genitive case.”

By using my guide to Russian Genitive case, I will prove to you, why leraning all situations is really important. When you learn the situation and not just the endings, you will understand that you don’t even need to memorise these endings. Because it’s possible you already know how to use them.
Because, for example, the Genitive case is not only about possession and ownership. We know that the main function of the Russian Genitive case is a possession, but there are some situations, when it goes beyond that.

You also need to use Russian Genitive case when you need to get somewhere, and you want to ask for directions.
For example:

You also need to use the Russian Genitive case when you want to tell a person where you are from.[that is from which city, country etc..]
For example:
-I am from America.
Я из Aмерики.
YA iz Ameriki.
-I am from Russia.
Я из Росси́и.
YA iz Rassii.
Aмерики + Росси́и in the Genitive case.
Aмерикa[Amerika]= America[Nom. Case]
Росси́я[Rassiya]= Russia[Nominative case]

Or, for example, you are lost in the city and you are calling your friend to explain where you are. Again you will need to use the Russian Genitive case.
For example:
-I am standing near the theatre, not far from the park in front of the cinema.
Я стою возле театра, недалеко от парка напротив кинотеатра.
YA stayu vozle teatra, needaleko ot parka naprotif kinateatra.
This way you are killing two birds with the same stone.

In Russian we say:
To kill two birds with the same stone.
Убить двух зайцев.
Ubit' dvukh zaiytsev.

So, you are not just simply memorising the endings of nouns, for example:
Park[nom]of Park[gen]
Парк Парка
Parkparka
Theater[nom] of theatre[gen]
Театр Театра
Teater Teatra
But you also learn these handy useful phrases that you will need in your speech. And when you learn all these different situations, with all the different phrases, that you can use in your speech, you will not need to memorise the endings of nouns, adjectives and so on. You just need to use your deduction and logic, when you need to put another word in the genitive case.
And to make it more effective for you to remember all the situation that require a particular Russian case, you can create a story with all these different situations. That’s what I did for my Guide to Russian Genitive case.
I wrote a story about a man called “Gena”, and this story includes all the situations that require the genitive case.
RULE NO. 2
Learn Russian cases in context.
Context is really important when it comes to learning Russian cases. You can not simply memorize the endings for each case. You practically can, but it will be very hard and in addition you will not be able to use them in your speech, because you need to learn these endings together with words within a sentence. For example, you can create some example sentences that will remind you of different endings for each case. These sentences can be funny and hilarious. The most important thing is to make them memorable.

NOMINATIVE
GENETIVE
DATIVE
ACCUSATIVE
INSTRUMENTAL
PREPOSITIONAL
All these six cases require different endings for nouns, numeral and adjectives.
And in order to put the endings correctly, you need to know in which situations each of these cases is required. Here is an interesting fact: Russian natives don’t know all these cases. We learn all these cases at school, and then forget about them.
But as you may have guesses we already can speak Russian before going to school. We learn how to put the endings correctly from the “context”, without even knowing the names of these cases. And we discover them at school. We discover, that the way we put the endings, is actually called: DECLENSION.
However, I can assure you that even Russian natives tend to make mistakes in some case, especially in regard to: GENTIVE and ACCUSATIVE cases, which are often in competition. But what are the cases, and why do we need them in Russian language?

In English and in many other languages we have:
Direct Word Order
SUBJECT + VERB + OBJECT.
For example:
I love you.
SUBJECT VERB OBJECT.
Everything is clear because each word has it’s fixed place.

Now let’s look at the same sentence in Russian language:
Я люблю тебя. [YA lublu tebya]{informal.sing addressing}
Я люблю вас. [YA lublu vas]{plural/formal sing. adder.}
Я люблю тебя/вас
SUBJECT VERB OBJECT

We can also change the order of the words. The meaning will stay the same, but the emphasis will be changes.
For example:
Lit: I you[informal/formal] love.
Meaning: I love you.
Я тебя/вас люблю[YA tebya/vas lublu]
SUBJECT OBJECT VERB.
We put the object after the subject.

However, you can change the emphasis of words in this sentence by putting the object in the beginning.
Lit: You{inform./formal or plural} I love.
Meaning: It is you that I love.
Тебя/вас я люблю.[Tebya/vas YA lublu]
OBJECT SUBJECT VERB
OR:
Lit: You[inform/formal] love I.
Meaning: It is I that love you.
Тебя/вас люблю я[Tebya/vas lublu YA]
OBJECT VERB SUBJECT
In this case we have the emphasis on the object[word]Тебя/вас[Tebya/vas]= You[informal/ formal or plural], which shows that you really love this person and not someone else.

Hello! The construction 'this is' in Russian is just a word 'это'. For example, 'this is a book' = это книга. 'It's Alina's book' = это книга Алины (You should learn the Genitive case to understand this connection). The same word will be applied to both singular words of any gender and plural words. 'This is Alina's mother' = это мама Алины. 'These are Alina' s friends' = это друзья Алины. Hope it helps 🤗

I like the way you explain things, yeah I like just Memorizing the Sentences, then I figured I will figure out the cases later. One of the things I just recently started playing with is using Replika (who was Created by Russians) to tutor me in Russian Language. Replika can speak many different Languages, so I can use her to Practice Talking Russian. 😁
