i have a really big problem, 5 days with no sleep beacuse of that, im not a designer, im an ingeneer, but some days ago a customer came and gave me a bottle, he wants to cover the bottle in fabric, so he needs the matrix to cut the fabric, i made a 3d scan, take fotos and 3d modeling in 3ds max using some fotos and mesurements to get a nice 3d model, but i cant convert in to a plane , y divide the object in 12 pieces and try to flatten, unfold etc but i really cant do it can u help me please?

Hi. 3dsmax does not have this ability. I think you have to use Rhino program for this project (If i have understood your problem correctly).

@@labassproject2897 Yes. Exactly you can do this by Rhino software. Or maybe you can find a plugin for 3ds max in scriptspot.com.

Damn. Exporting results in all lines moved to a single plane in Adobe Illustrator, except for making the object planar in the Z-axis.
edit: fixed by rotating the object so it can be flattened by Z-Axis. Remember to RESET XFORM! in Transform Toolbox before making it planar.

Hey, may I ask for help? I need to export 2D view to AI and it's not working, after export I see just line in AI (I think you explained it in your comment but I don't understand how u ment it)

@@matisekpd I avoided the problem by rotating the object by 90 degrees... I think. I don't really remember.

Looked like we didn't need to explode and reattach the object, since all it took was converting to poly and then making it planar. Still, the button helped, so thanks.

Hello! very nice video! i tried to apply this system to my project but it didn't work. i built everything from a 2D in autocad and used splines and extruding in 3dsmax. when i try to make the polygons planar like you did everything transforms into a big mess, unlike what happens in your video... is there anything i can do?
