After watching this video I "commissioned " my wife to prepare dinner ,, a powerful word hope it works Love ur vids getting ready to order the tex creek XL
I personally have smaller hands, and I love how the handle is thinner than most. I also love the Rocky Mountain Tread handles as well. The main reason I purchased this knife was because of the thickness of the handles and, it just looks badass. I honestly think I like this one over my TFK. They both are fantastic knives. Silent Hero is the best medium sized blade on the market.
I agree with you. In an emergency, sure, use the spine for fire starting. But I like saving mine for scraping tinder tumble weeds., and making arrows or staffs. Smoothing our a spear tip, or sharpening a pencil to a fine point. I also usually use flint and char cloth with saved tinder tumbleweeds I dry out in a leather pouch. I’ll break the ferro rod out if I really need to.and I carry the garden tool sharpener you mentioned in a few of your videos as a striker.
Just saw this video. I am a TOPS Dealer. I "retired" my Brand-X field carry knife in favor of the Tahoma. I too, ordered mine with a false top edge. I didn't feel the need to have an edge (or even the serrated edge option). In fact, in an emergency situation, if the knife is in possession of someone not familiar with the knife, it could be a liability. I find the ergonomics to be absolutely outstanding. It is for this reason that I chose this knife as my primary wilderness knife.
I was going to redo the video but I thought it would be a funnier throwback to the old days if I left the leaf blower in. No Ice Cream Trucks around here. The leaf blower only started as soon as I got my camera out.
Chris, you are absolutely right about the Tahoma, it’s awesome, I’ve got a couple vids out on it, I’m still under 100 subs, just getting going...... I’ve been watching you for years, enjoy it!
Could you please do a video that shows you walking up to leaf blower guy and punching him in the face? Great vid, love all the knives. First one was my favorite.
you all probably dont give a damn but does anybody know a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost the password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
@Musa Abel I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
What are yours thoughts on firestrike knife by tops? I can’t find any real reviews of that knife. Please your first knife you are showing reminds me a lot of it.
*****HEY CHRIS***** Just found this, before I watched it, I marked "like & saved it" - THEN I watched part (UPS knock, meds.!), came back and finished it-the strangest thing: it AUTOMATICALLY unchecked the like, had to hit it again, so it's happening on your channel now-for sure... Take care, "God Bless", sincerely -
Love your top knives choices..especially your top 5 2017 choices... Eventhough im more of a stainless steel guy its just eliminate the hassle out of oiling it up out on the field during 4 day expeditons in Ontario
I wonder if he would put the Tops Brakimo on this list now instead of say the BOB or Tex Creek XL now that time has passed. Chris, do an updated version of this, I'm sure many people would be curious.
The Tohoma Field knife is my next purchase. I have to save up a few more months. I just got a WE Knife Co Drakon 819P. It’s a folder so I won’t be using it for like survival or whatever. Just an EDC. I don’t Baton wood with my kabar tho. I have an RMJ Jenny Wren they did for me with pink G10. I’d like to hold the TFk tho. It might be too big for my hands. Basically the Esee Izula is perfect size for me.
Brother....what is the advantages of not having a sharpened upper edge on the Tops Tahoma knife. Before I actually order one for myself, I would value your opinion. Thanks for the review videos.
You mentioned different schools of thought and some list of what a bushcraft knife should be.My question is,rhetorically, who made up this list and who authorized that person/those people as experts for what the rest of us want/need??I mean, last time I checked, when I spend my money,or even if someone gives me a knife,as long as it does not injure me,gets the job done, and I get home safe and sound,I can use whatever i want. When I have bought knives or been around others buying knives, guns,or whatever,I have YET to see any man step up and try to tell another what to buy.Of course, people can make suggestions and share their concerns/experiences,yet like you said, you have more than one tool you use. As a man,I fail to see why any other man worries about imposing his will on another,as if I need to buy what he uses.I dont consider it another man's business to have a discussion about how we spends his money. In other words,if you reviewed a knife here, and it's $300 more than the next one I like,I will get it if I want to.We can find a $500 knife in a thrift shop for $20,and they will probably perform the same. It's entirely possible get a KaBar from a store for $50,and take it on all your adventures for 25 years.Grown men with panties should calm down and keep them on..hehehehe..It's not all that serious, and it's a knife..that's all..I like the first one and the one you made a spear with...
Hey, PREPARED (or anyone else), what are your thoughts of the upcoming remake of the TOPS Wind Runner and XL model. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you check it out. Have a good day!
What do you have to have to get into a shot show? I’ve always wanted to go to one but I thought you had to be some kind of a distributor of products, ie guns, knives ect?
Have used the Silent Hero for wed now and it's absolutely amazing!!! Love you videos! I truly do! But, I'm not alone in wanting to see you actually use these knives in an overnight (or longer) survival situation. Can you do it?? It would be so convincing of your abilities!! Just saying! 😎🤙🤙🔪
Tops are great knives. But I just don't get how they cost more then Beckers eventhough Beckers 1095crovan steel is better then the regular 1095 that Tops uses.
I really like the look of the silent hero. your biggest complaint with it is the thin handle. I personally prefer a thin handle and Have modified and made handles for several knives that would be unrecognizable as what they were originally made I thinned and lightened a BK-2 and reshaped and created a re-curve on a Condor Hudson's Bay Co. Why don't you ad another set of spacers between the scales and the Hilt? You may have to remold the kydex but that is easy.
Don't know if this message will be seen but i am trying to find a good knife and i am having a tough time. Trying to find a good one for when i deploy to Afghanistan but i can't think of an good size, strength and other things was gonna ask if maybe you have an idea of what i could use.
I'm a big fan of those four knives myself, along with the MSK & the Scandi Trekker. I really like the Apache Falcon as well, although it's more of a fighting knife than an outdoor knife (it works really as a survival knife well though), and I agree with you about the Rocky Mountain Tread pattern scales. That's my least favorite thing about the Falcon, well, that & the choil design. I used to be a real fan of the Steel Eagle 107C too, but I fell out of love with that one, and it's since been sold to a friend who thinks it's the coolest thing ever. BTW, while you're talking to the good folks at Tops, see if you can get them to make more of their knives available with that great looking Blue G10 they use. That would look fantastic with their Black River Wash blade finish!
I'm interested in Apache Falcon as well. It looks like a big brother to TOPS Pathfinder school. I would love their designs in more steels. Glad they have Csmp Creek out in S35VN.
I almost bought the TFK but have seen a few reviews where the tip broke so I chose to get the ESEE Laser Strike for bushcraft, JX5 Vengeful for heavy duty and I have a few combat knives, up first being the Cold Steel San Mai III. I also have the Fallkniven Tor, ESEE Junglas and Bark River Bravo 3 (on order). For my machete I went with the Discord, although many believe it to be overkill. I love knives and I am on the hunt for my grail knife, the Busse Battle Mistress (not coated). I'm also interested in getting the Honey Badger and Grizzly or perhaps the Bravo Survivor.
Another great video Chris. One of my absolute favorite Tops knife is the Black Rhino. It is unbelieveable for general bushcraft needs and is extremely heavy duty. I would recomend trading for it if it comes available as I do not think that you would be happy purchaseing it (scales take getting use to, thick black coating, and only 5" blade). After a slight period of getting used to the knife, I would not trade it for anything. The current YT reviews do not do it Justice. Either way, keep up the videos and the great work. Ryan
Thanks for this video. I enjoy all the information you put into your knife videos. What jacket are you wearing? Are you wearing a shell over a fleece, or is that a jacket that has a zip-in fleece liner?
I wish the TOPS DART would get some more love in the knife community, It is my favorite knife that I own! I know a lot of people don't like the recurve, but sometimes I don't think they give it enough of a chance. My Dart can do anything! Thanks for all the hard work and great vids Chris!
+lifesyphon1 I love my DART...the only thing i think needs improvement IMHO is the handle. the blade has a great utility shape, but the handle limits the intensity of use. i have partially addressed this with a lanyard, but it could benefit greatly from a kukri-style handle. fwiw
Good vid been wanting another knife vid for a while. Knives are just more interesting than flashlights to me. Really looking forward to your shot show vids ,glad to hear your going .
I own like 200 knives and im here to say there is no one end all be all knives. Lol i still haven t found one that I would carry everyday. Just for looks and compfort. Lol but I will keep looking.
Chris- two questions 1. On your coat, what is the flap of material on your left side running vertically? 2. Did your gloves come with the thumb slits or did you cut them? Thanks

Hey bud, love the channel. Thanks for keeping the videos coming. I am sorry if this question has been asked and answered a lot before... you talk about blade composition well enough and with a great understanding of the different metals I wonder your opinion of a Damascus blade. Are there any good ones? Anything special or beneficial to having a Damascus blade or do they just look pretty? Thanks, take care!
Thanks you ... I have been saying and arguing for years with people over the knife striking a ferro rod. I would say the same thing.... did your rod not come with a striker, and they would say well what if I lost it. Well you can loose anything so I don't buy into that to much. However there are so many things you can strike a ferro rod on, basically as long as it is harder then the rod it will work. Even a piece of broken glass and unfortunately these days you can find that almost anywhere. Same with a lot of the keychains we have on us or some belt buckles...or like you said a multi tool. I would get quite anoyed with people who would discredit a knife becasue of the spine(heard it a ton with helle knives since their laminated steel process normally leaves the outer steel too soft, might be models I am unfamilar with that do not have this issue but all the ones I am familar with do) there are a lot of great knives that don't have a 90 degree spine... survive knives gso 4.1 is one of my favourte knives and i have the non gimped model and love it...but i have learned to live and adapt to the fact i need something else to strike my ferro rod.... and in a pinch if it really really is a situation where you have nothing and you need a striker, use the edge, preferably closer to the tip since that is not used as much in cut and processing wood type tasks. but again thank you for speaking against the group thought of a knife MUST be able to striek a ferro rod.
you can file the back of your knife and roll both edges just like sharpening a card scraper then you can use both sides of the back for scraping wood or starting fires
yes dammit. everyone's leaf blowing around my neighborhood. I watched this one guy. He wasn't faster than I would have been using a rake, he wasn't more effective. Honey, that crazy knife man is outside again talking to his camera, start up the leaf blower and maybe he will go back inside.

Throwback Monday FTW haha, gotta love the noises :D
you should do a review on the geigerrig hydration pack
with the virus filter
People were starting to think you were too good for leaf blower man.
+PREPAREDMIND101 what are those dents on the top of the knife for? the deep ones on the first knife.
Chris, you are absolutely right about the Tahoma, it’s awesome, I’ve got a couple vids out on it, I’m still under 100 subs, just getting going...... I’ve been watching you for years, enjoy it!
Fabulous picks! I love the BOB & Silent Hero, own both!
Could you please do a video that shows you walking up to leaf blower guy and punching him in the face? Great vid, love all the knives. First one was my favorite.
Thinking of just burning down his ugly shed instead.
PREPAREDMIND101 ugly shed I thought that was an arrow back stop.
Rick Foley now it is after losing two. I just moved the target.
lmfao!!!!!!
I liked the first one too
Still love this video just to get to see all those awesome blades
glad to see the TOPS B.O.B knife, i bought my dad one for Christmas
EXTREMA RATIO THE BEST.
The "danglers" are good. i just made a horizontal sheath crossdraw. very handy and nice design.
I agree that a false edge is not quite favourable when one has to hammer the knife in splitting tinders.
thnx 4 the tip i'm going for the Silent hero. Looks great and perfect for bushcraft
Just ordered my Tops Tahoma. Hats off to your reviews. It was the tipping point.
I ended up buying the Tahoma Field Knife and I like it a lot. A very unique design done very well.
Absolutely love my Tahoe’s field knife
Tops Mohawk Hunter is my combat knife. I got my tops yacare as my main chopped.
You shall dig the Tex Creek XL
you all probably dont give a damn but does anybody know a trick to log back into an instagram account..?

@@nathanaelmarcel5455 Yeah you just click "forgot password". follow prompts.
@Nathanael Marcel Instablaster :)
@Musa Abel I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I'm a sucker for those half inch bare lips on the craft!! Less sharpening marks and ware and tare marks!! Smoother cuts too!!
I'd use the one of the 200 bottle openers in the bushcraft arsenal to strike a ferro-rod
What are yours thoughts on firestrike knife by tops? I can’t find any real reviews of that knife. Please your first knife you are showing reminds me a lot of it.
Just started to watch some of your videos. Good job guy keep it up.👍🇨🇦
Do you still have any of these? My favorite knives are Tahoma and BOB

nice collection
Love the leaf blower guy.
Nice knives! This review would be much better if the knives were displayed on a table or something.
Would LOVE to see a 7" blade version of the B.O.B!
i own the Surv-tac-7 very impressed with it.
Planning on buying some of the smaller scandi grind knives
have we got an updated vid of this? :D
Love your top knives choices..especially your top 5 2017 choices... Eventhough im more of a stainless steel guy its just eliminate the hassle out of oiling it up out on the field during 4 day expeditons in Ontario

What kind of bow do you shoot?
Brother where did u get the Marpat Jacket
Chris be honest , what would you choose between 1. Silent hero or 2. Tahoma field knife ?
I have all of those and then some.
Love all four, great choices 👍
That BOB shoots fire out the rear end Chris
The Tohoma Field knife is my next purchase. I have to save up a few more months. I just got a WE Knife Co Drakon 819P. It’s a folder so I won’t be using it for like survival or whatever. Just an EDC.

I don't play favorites between my Tops knives. I love them all equally. 😅
I use 1/4 inch wood chisel to strike ferro rod works great
Brother....what is the advantages of not having a sharpened upper edge on the Tops Tahoma knife. Before I actually order one for myself, I would value your opinion. Thanks for the review videos.
What is surated. edge for..Have 6 yr old Schrader. Spear survival..surated edge is 5 inches

Tex creek XL seems a little awkward cause of no finger choile. thoughts on that?
I had to check this out because on the thumbnail I had all but the second knife down and I was about to buy that the other day lol
Have you tried out the Tracker II? I'd like to see a review on that from you

I recommend the TOPS Silent Hero for neutralizing the neighbor's leaf blower.
How did you get the bullet puller off to strip the bob

I was wondering which knife is best to get a wife.
Tops are great knives. But I just don't get how they cost more then Beckers eventhough Beckers 1095crovan steel is better then the regular 1095 that Tops uses.

What is that digital camo jacket you're wearing, and where can I find one?
That silent hero was good for a bigger but more manageable blade!! 👍
so Chris what are ur favorite tops knives? hehe
You've got to put a range of clothes with your emblem on them. Even just caps would be brilliant.
I'm a big fan of those four knives myself, along with the MSK & the Scandi Trekker. I wish the TOPS DART would get some more love in the knife community, It is my favorite knife that I own! I know a lot of people don't like the recurve, but sometimes I don't think they give it enough of a chance. My Dart can do anything! Thanks for all the hard work and great vids Chris!
Can your dart do a backflip?
+lifesyphon1 I love my DART...the only thing i think needs improvement IMHO is the handle. the blade has a great utility shape, but the handle limits the intensity of use. i have partially addressed this with a lanyard, but it could benefit greatly from a kukri-style handle. fwiw

Chris, ever looked at the Boker Ginger Fighter? If so, what are your thoughts?
Have you checked out the Power Eagle ?
Chris- two questions
1. On your coat, what is the flap of material on your left side running vertically?
2. Did your gloves come with the thumb slits or did you cut them?
Thanks
My coat is a current issue USMC MARPAT ECWCS Goretex Jacket (a mouthful) and I have the Polartec 300 fleece inner jacket that goes under it. It has all sort of pockets and zippers and flaps.
gonna be getting me a tex creek xl this holiday season. Super excited.
Great video! I was wondering what is your method of sharpening your Tops B.O.B.? Also what is your method for touching it up in the field if it begins to dull?
I'd use a diamond hone personally. Scandi grinds are very easy to touch up
Hey Chris. Always liked the look of the TOPS knives with the differential heat treat lines. But I was just on your Amazon store... take a look at the Becker BK9 listing, particularly the price. Not sure how Amazon stores work, but just wanted to give you a heads up.
Oh wait... nevermind. Heh. Just tried to put it in my cart as an experiment and it wouldn't work. Must be some kind of system error maybe?
I dream of a Tops knife 🔪 made in a super steel like 4V, 110, s90, or M4, or even cru-wear, WoW what a pleasant dream
I like your comment about the tops knifes do u have any patch s of your logo for sale
Or... you could take a Zippo or Bic into the woods for fire starting?
great video help me out a lot on my choice

When do I get to see a Condor Dundee Bowie review video? I've been waiting patiently..Great videos though..Keep up the good work!
I got rid of that knife a long long time ago. Was a GAW prize. Too big.
Thanks you ... I have been saying and arguing for years with people over the knife striking a ferro rod. Chris, you mentioned the Scandi Trekker. What are your thoughts on the value proposition vs the Mora Bushcraft Black?
That jacket is bad ass. What is it and where can I get one?
did you use electrical tape on the handle of the Tahoma field knife?
Great video Chris .
Do a review on the Tops bushcraft kukuri 7. I got the condor crotalus and it was great. Thanks for the reviews!
Love Love my TFK!
I concur on all four being really great knives from TOPS. I'm surprised the MSK didn't make your list though, because I think that's another winner.
What brand of jacket are you wearing ?
Great Selections
you can file the back of your knife and roll both edges just like sharpening a card scraper then you can use both sides of the back for scraping wood or starting fires
Hey what about opening your amazon store to Canada? I can buy all the stuff in your store off of amazon, just not from your store? How come?
Leaf Blowers.... What was wrong with using a rake?
They wouldn't interfere with my videos.
yes dammit. everyone's leaf blowing around my neighborhood. I watched this one guy. He wasn't faster than I would have been using a rake, he wasn't more effective. But he was polluting the place with noise and wasting fuel. I suppose annoying people while keeping your belly fat is the plus side they see.
Black Wolf I suppose blowing leaves around gives them more cardio than they get the other 3 months a year operating the tv remote
EvilLabrador1 Hey Dude
You should do a review of the tops scorpion tail Karmabit
I prefer the looks of the 2nd knife. Good size.
Cue the guy with the leafblower :)
