Thank you for taking us along. I spent 5 years living in Spring, Texas back in the 1970's... I sort of grew up in Texas before my dad went independent and I moved my senior year of high school... I can't wait to rediscover Texas. Thank you for taking the time to create your videos. Safe travels.
Nice video. There are a lot of beautiful historic homes near downtown. Walmart about killed the small businesses in area. BTW, the OTT hotel is haunted!
Love your travels through the Long Star State my man. Me and my wife trek on the weekends to different bbq joints around central Texas and travel the backroads and sight see.
Born and raised in Beaumont Texas labell garner road never knew about liberty Texas would have liked to have taken school class trip there in the 50s and 60s but never did I now live in Tatum Texas i thank ill go the next time I go to Beaumont
I didn’t know that price Daniel‘s wife is also a Baldwin. That’s an interesting name to trace down, a name that has been forgotten. The money which the Allen brothers used to purchase the original farm which they subdivided into the town of Houston, came from the Baldwin family. Augustus Allen’s wife who was a Baldwin daughter, suggested naming the town Houston. She entertained Sam Houston in their home to sell him on the idea.
Just visited the Chambers County Airport and was surprised to see the city of Anahuac was established in 1831. I guess that was due to travel by boat into the shallow bays was the easiest way to get into those areas along the coastline.
I live just around the corner from the cemetery. Just north out of Liberty 10 miles or so is a old homestead site of Sam Houston. In the same area there’s a church and a Freemason Lodge that supposedly Sam helped or had built. Both still standing although the church was set fire by someone, it was put out before total loss. Across the road from the museum/Daniels plantation you were at is a huge beautiful home that Price Daniel Jr had built after he married a local girl that worked at the Dairy Queen. Later she shot and killed him in the front yard.
I've lived 5 miles from the Sam Houston Museum my entire life, and have never been. It's not advertised, we had no idea what was even in there. I know what I'm doing this weekend.
I will always have a warm spot in my heart for Liberty, Texas because it produced three mighty, bold women of God whom I met and ministered with on my first missionary trip to Jamaica thirty six years ago. One of those gals insisted that our YWAM leader take us to a notoriously demon-oppressed village called Stairtown. It was laid out like a stair step going on and going out. There were several bars/saloons on both sides of the one street going through town. Sadly our YWAM leader was afraid to drive the bus all the way to the town. So we had to walk the rest of the way there. As we approached, we saw two boys who were playing hookey from school (skipping) and drinking Red Stripe beer. As soon as we walked up to them, they dropped the beer bottles, fell on their knees and cried out to God. We prayed for them and they received Jesus. They told us that as soon as they saw us they knew that God sent us. They told us that a week or so earlier a cult group came up to them and they chased them out of town. As we walked into the center of town, we encountered a little girl who was deaf. One of the bold ‘Liberty ladies’ said we need to touch her ears and pray for healing. When we did, the power of God came on her and instantly healed her. A big smile broke across her sweet face and she pointed to her ears very excitedly. God healed her! It was the first (of many) healing miracles I had ever witnessed. Her mother cried. Now God had divinely set that scene so that we would meet the girl in the center of town so people could clearly see what He would do. People started pouring out of the bars and ran up to us crying and repenting of their sins and asking for prayer. It was amazing! We prayed for people in the small village for an hour or more and then walk down the steps to the awaiting bus. The YWAM director asked us what happened and we said, “You wouldn’t believe it!” 😃 Those dear women of God always laughed and quoted the scripture, “Where the Spirit of God is, there is Liberty!” Indeed there is!
They're nice because they don't want anyone watching them or making a stink from them giving our community away to illegals for that federal grant money. Make no mistake, they don't care about anything but getting rich.
The place with the replica of the liberty bell also is a Library
It’s nice to see my town
It's good to hear the old buildings are being restored/maintained.
