She's been in the music business for 42 years now, and at age 62, her voice is just as pure now as it was when she sang Different Drum with the Stone Ponies
aaaah, frisbee, the ocean and Linda Ronstadt. Life doesn't get any better unless and until she begins to sing and it's pure bliss .............. never get tired of this video or Linda.
I consider bearing with the beginning and end of this video a true testimony of how much we love Linda Ronstadt. The goofiness is off the charts, and it would make us burn our computers if it came from any other artist. Then again, I would watch a recording of a young Linda Ronstandt reading the phonebook for an hour and enjoy it.
What a really interesting sound on this particular cut. It's early Dylan mixed with the Beatles St. Peppers sound. Wow. Linda Ronstadt has always had amazing taste!
Glad to have it back "JP"! Thanks! This is from a little known television show, The John Byner Show, probably 1971, although LR recorded this on her 1969 album.
I am always astonished by the incredible Linda Ronstadt. She has not been fully appreciated in her life as an artist of great preception and awareness. In this song she even does folk music better than the best. I totally love her.
I love her I put her right up there with barbra and aretha this lady could sing anything and has the most diverse body of work of any singer that I know she did not write that many songs but her selection of so many great songs and her unique ability to interpret them makes up for that I adore her
Gosh this is a awesome video. I love it to see Linda just having fun playing frisbee, and sounds of seagulls, ocean waves, rocks all so beautiful. I love her music and her. She's my favorite female vocalist for all time. Thank you so much for sharing. I needed something to help me and this song is great!!!
Miss Linda sweetness so bold and so darn beautiful goodness given me the goosebumps when she's just ah singing her heart out to all of us who loves her so very dearly god bless you baby country and city girl gorgeous ness.
Thats Corona del Mar, CA! I live 2 blocks up the street! the spot is so nice, people get married there every often. funny, there is a 20ft cliff u have to climb down and no stairs, brides do it in their dresses.
beautiful just beauuuuuuutiful love this gem of just a wonderful moments of linda covering another Bob Dylan masterpiece great range in her voice and her looking so sweeet and lovely selena Gomez has her youth as well as her spirit I Love you linda baby so very very very much peace everybody😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
This video is so different from today Linda is has and will always be my favorite singer it’s way better than today’s videos today they’re so Ronchi but back then they were simple but they meant a lot
That special effect where everything suddenly turns red at 1:56 is just plain cool. If I'm not mistaken, this is Malibu beach, which is appropriate. At the time of this recording, Dylan had just moved to that area, where he still lives today. This is a typical elaborately orchestrated California style approach to his music.
Some of Linda's more famous early photos were taken at this location. Probably the same day I am guessing. There is a German Shepherd running around there somewhere lol. Wish there was a better quality video of this but I am happy just to have this one.
@@richardleonard4281 Me either, Richard. Was just oblivious to the concert scene in the 70's. Ms. Ronstadt even played at my college in 1976 but just found that out from an old college chum about a month ago! I was just a "spin-the-vinyl, blare-the-car-radio" kind of teen and twenty-something. There were so many other opportunities as Ms. Ronstadt was at my doorstep countless other times in the decades that followed. Unearthing and posting videos such as these help to mitigate my regret!
This performance was on impressionist John Byner's short-lived summer variety show "Something Else" which aired in 1970. Check out the UA-cam video for "Poco--You Better Think Twice," and you'll find that Linda appeared along with Poco and The Flying Burrito Brothers, all future country-rock hall of famers.
Do any of you guys remember that accident when you missed the frisbee and it gave you a bloody nose? Boy, Linda Ronstadt was cute, I remember her only vaguely growing up in Southern California, but have recently rediscovered her. My wife actually has a bit of a resemblance.
I would like someone to show me a photo of a ticket where they paid $200 to see Linda Ronstadt. I can think of one instance where a show was that expensive, and it was for charity. I am fairly certain that if Linda ever charged $200 or more for an appearance, it was for a benefit concert.
Never seen this one....nice...I just wonder, since this was so early in her career, if she sang that same song in the 70's or 80's, her voice would sound more mature and not so stoic, but a lovely song anyway.
She is a Goddess. For better or worse... She helped turn my pre-teenage fantasies into dreams. (hmmm, I'm sure what that means, but I could never get those stains out of my sheets;)
She could sing the phone book and have my undivided attention. Watching this video I thought surely it’s not the guy in the striped pants Linda Ronstadt is pining for in the song. Turns out striped pants guy is John Byner.
The comedian's name was John Byner. He was also well known for doing impersonations. This may have been from one of his hosted TeeVee shows back then. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Byner
Actually Claretea you are right and sadly I include my own comments. I have been side-tracked by the extraordinary cheesiness of this clip. Linda was, what, 18, 20 here and I guess did what she was told. The song is a great one. I can remember hearing it in my early teens and it was that sound-track thing. Linda's rich voice is great here so 0 for the outfit but full points for the song choice.
If I'm not mistaken, Linda looks to be in her early thirties, or sometime in her twenties. But all in all, Linda looks very nice at such a young and has a great voice (still does to this day) in this video. By the way, who is that man she is hanging out with?
That is you tube. Join the party. I like Simon and Garfunkel, Linda, Bread, ABBA, The Eagles even Petula but there is a dissonance and I do not from where it is coming.
@SilverFox466 You make some good points. I'm a vet too-& support the troops but disagreed strongly w/the invasion of Iraq. I fully recognize the right of others to disagree-& oppose censorship. I'm a big fan of Linda Ronstadt-so was defending her-though if I'd spent $200 for a ticket I'd probably want her to sing rather than talk too! I hear you on government regulation. I also think "we've" priced ourselves out of the market by rising cost of living-food/rent/insurance-GREED-& now can't compete
My favorite Linda Ronstadt song! Love that it's written by Bob Dylan
She's been in the music business for 42 years now, and at age 62, her voice is just as pure now as it was when she sang Different Drum with the Stone Ponies
There just has to be a GOD to create a woman so perfect as Linda Ronstadt. Her voice is from heaven . She is the most gorgeous woman .period
aaaah, frisbee, the ocean and Linda Ronstadt. Life doesn't get any better unless and until she begins to sing and it's pure bliss .............. never get tired of this video or Linda.

I have never seen this video before. Her record company was ahead of its time! thanks.
This has always been one of my favorite Linda Ronstadt songs. Heads and tails above other versions.
Wow. what a great early film. I LOVE this..on the beach, playing frisbee, the California coast. John Byner. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Beautiful, stunning, intelligent and beyond talented Linda!!!
Early Linda - nothing better. Odd little TV shoot - but as long as you have Dylan and Linda- all is well. Great version.
a strong, rich, full voice. beautiful.
What a really interesting sound on this particular cut. It's early Dylan mixed with the Beatles St. Peppers sound. Wow. Linda Ronstadt has always had amazing taste!
Good song 😊
A rare video indeed....love it - thanks for sharing this....AWESOME!
Glad to have it back "JP"! Thanks! This is from a little known television show, The John Byner Show, probably 1971, although LR recorded this on her 1969 album.
Wow! This is a rare video of a young LR. Thanks for posting.

This has to be (more or less) one of the first music videos. Who knew how far they would come?
Gosh this is a awesome video. I love it to see Linda just having fun playing frisbee, and sounds of seagulls, ocean waves, rocks all so beautiful. I love her music and her. She's my favorite female vocalist for all time. Thank you so much for sharing. I needed something to help me and this song is great!!!
Lovely! Never heard or seen this video before. I love how she looks here ;)
Miss Linda sweetness so bold and so darn beautiful goodness given me the goosebumps when she's just ah singing her heart out to all of us who loves her so very dearly god bless you baby country and city girl gorgeous ness.
Thanks Linda - lovely arrangement - good job.
Never seen or heard this great classic thanks for posting
3.02 when I listen to her "I forget all about time and discomfort", yes! What a great singer :)
This is precious
Linda is the greatest and the most gorgeous woman on earth. She must be from heaven 2010
never heard this one before. What a treat. Nobody can take her place
Linda Ronstadt even sings folk songs better then those who originated the style. She has amazing clarity of style.
Thats Corona del Mar, CA! I live 2 blocks up the street! the spot is so nice, people get married there every often. funny, there is a 20ft cliff u have to climb down and no stairs, brides do it in their dresses.
wow this is a long time ago and a music video so cool!
@deltalady72 it is from her first solo album, "Hand Sown...Home Grown" released in 1969...
love the use of the french horn here
beautiful just beauuuuuuutiful love this gem of just a wonderful moments of linda covering another Bob Dylan masterpiece great range in her voice and her looking so sweeet and lovely selena Gomez has her youth as well as her spirit I Love you linda baby so very very very much peace everybody😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
You're right. She looked like Selena Gomez
Great stuff. Thanks for posting this. Linda is a legend. Wish she'd sing those pre-Nelson Riddle songs again.
My Friend and I is going to see her on Oct 23,2008 In Seattle Wa
You luck lucky guys. Hope yous had a memorable time
Thanks for posting this!!
This video is so different from today Linda is has and will always be my favorite singer it’s way better than today’s videos today they’re so Ronchi but back then they were simple but they meant a lot
loving this...
this is probably the very first linda ronstadt "video"; good job, and keep up the good work--thanks for posting!!!!!!!!!!!!
She nailed this song !
That special effect where everything suddenly turns red at 1:56 is just plain cool. If I'm not mistaken, this is Malibu beach, which is appropriate. At the time of this recording, Dylan had just moved to that area, where he still lives today. This is a typical elaborately orchestrated California style approach to his music.
i love this record. wow, a music video, who knew??
I used to wish I could sing like Linda. What woman didn't?
her register change was one of the smoothest ever.
New to me but I really like this.
Linda Ronstadt has always been able to make other people's songs her own, much like James Taylor did.
Everyone does Dylans songs better than him I adore Linda Ronstadt
Some of Linda's more famous early photos were taken at this location. Probably the same day I am guessing. There is a German Shepherd running around there somewhere lol. Wish there was a better quality video of this but I am happy just to have this one.
She was definately one of the best seventies hotties:) And what a voice! Holy crap is that's John Byner lol Nice.....Peace all
The guy is John Byner. He was a comedian/actor in the 60's 70's and 80's.He was on Get Smart;Soap;Stroker Ace with Burt Reynolds. Not her boyfriend lol.
Some show called "Something Else" w John Byner -- I just searched after watching this. Someone has the whole show uploaded. Pretty neat.
Never got to see Linda perform in concert but I met John Byner. Small consolation lol.
@@richardleonard4281 Me either, Richard. Was just oblivious to the concert scene in the 70's. And she actually caught the frisbee too!
@Lindawatcher yes, Linda is a complete package... and I'm a woman. She is also extremely intelligent, just plain smart !
Linda's first track on her very first solo album "Hand Sown Home Grown"
Wonderfully simple and sweet. I would guess this is 1969 or '70. Song is from her '69 album.
I never heard this but I really like it.
@jtlecreek You said it! Even though I haven't heard all of her songs, I think she sounds beautiful no matter how long ago it has been.
Linda sure seemed a lot more confident in her early years. Usually it's the other way around!
it's on her first album, after the Stone Poneys:Hand Sown...home grown".
@MultiBaldEagle 64 this year and still perfect
Love it.
Music starts at 0:30
Je suis surprise par la modernité de cette chanteuse. Linda Ronstadt a une voix en or... Et puis c'est une chanson de Dylan, belle association =)
This performance was on impressionist John Byner's short-lived summer variety show
"Something Else" which aired in 1970. Check out the UA-cam video for "Poco--You Better Think Twice," and you'll find that Linda appeared along with Poco and The Flying Burrito Brothers, all future country-rock hall of famers.
i like the way she takes over the song from the begining and acorse she is very hot
@marasu66 --- I couldn't agree with you more!! Two of my favorite things here......
Another early Bob Dylan song that was never released until his bootleg series years later.
so true
@Thepast2012 Well, thanks for enlightening us with that...well... that nothingness. :O)
Do any of you guys remember that accident when you missed the frisbee and it gave you a bloody nose? Boy, Linda Ronstadt was cute, I remember her only vaguely growing up in Southern California, but have recently rediscovered her. My wife actually has a bit of a resemblance.
I'm a huge fan, but this video is so goofy, in a good way. She always was a tad quirky.
@jtlecreek
That's easy: WE LOVE YOU, LINDA!
she looks good in shorts
💜

She must have dropped the last one...but she's adorable whether she catches it or not!!! :O)
She is a Goddess. For better or worse... She helped turn my pre-teenage fantasies into dreams.
(hmmm, I'm sure what that means, but I could never get those stains out of my sheets;)
Let US be the judge of that...
She could sing the phone book and have my undivided attention.
Watching this video I thought surely it’s not the guy in the striped pants Linda Ronstadt is pining for in the song. Turns out striped pants guy is John Byner.
I vaguely remember the guy in the video. A late 60s comedian. Anyone know his name and where the clip came from. Videos were not that common in 1969.
The comedian's name was John Byner. He was also well known for doing impersonations. This may have been from one of his hosted TeeVee shows back then.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Byner
I have never seen these videos
Fris me baby one more time!
You could download full of this album! Do you think?
haha the intro was so funny
Have you seen her lately?
What program was this?
One thing I don't miss about those days was having to wear a suit to the beach.
any idea what year this was made? oh and i love it thx for posting!
A John Byner tv special. Probably 1970, although Linda's song is from her '69 album.
Linda R. and I are the same age, and I can't begin to tell you how incredibly hot I was for her back then. Well, now too, after seeing this video.
@1f5sda thats John Byner. A comedian from the 70's who didn't last into the 80's
Early version of music video.
@jtlecreek THANK YOU! I couldn't have said it any better!
What is John Byner doing in a Ronstadt video?
Actually Claretea you are right and sadly I include my own comments. I have been side-tracked by the extraordinary cheesiness of this clip. I want to know just one thing: How did they get that band, not to mention the piano, down that cliff to the beach?
If I'm not mistaken, Linda looks to be in her early thirties, or sometime in her twenties. But all in all, Linda looks very nice at such a young and has a great voice (still does to this day) in this video. By the way, who is that man she is hanging out with?
That's John Byner, a comedian, and she was about 23 or 24.

@skshum John Byner,I believe.
