- In this Episode of the "Reaching Your Peak" mini-series, (Episode #6), we have another story/lesson from Corey Jacobsen.
This week, Corey shares the story of his first out-of-state elk hunt, a hunt that took place in a premiere unit in Arizona in 2005. He shares the details of how they filled 3 archery tags in 4 days on mature 6-point bulls, which includes many valuable lessons. But the biggest lesson of all, was one he learned the hard way.
Fortunately, 3 years later, Corey again drew an archery elk tag in Arizona, and this time, was able to redeem the mistakes he made on his first hunt there…
“Reaching Your Peak” will be published every other week, to fill in the gap between regular ElkTalk Podcast episodes, from now until the first part of October. In this new mini-series, Corey will be sharing stories from his past elk hunts, and then detailing a strategy or tactic that was instrumental in the success of that hunt.

Thanks Corey. Always looking forward to this fall.
I have been listening to your various content every day at work. I love man, this will be my first archery elk season. And I’m addicted. Listening to your podcasts gets me amped and focused.
Thanks very much for sharing your elk hunting experiences... keep em coming Corey!
Corey, thanks for sharing your hunting stories! I really enjoy listening to them.
Thank you very much for sharing! I really needed to hear this, we've been very successful in the elk woods but definitely lost perspective, really appreciate what you're doing here Corey!
I have learned over the years to just enjoy the hunt. While elk hunting was something I always wanted to do, I only recently have been able to go. Tag soup for 2 years due to illnesses for different members of the hunting parties, I still have great memories and fully enjoyed the hunts. Can't wait for this year. Third time is the charm!
Love that. I learn something on every podcast

Great story Corey. I'm disappointed that I didn't draw a tag this year, but my buddy did and I'm gonna take your advice and savor the experience of helping him kill his bull.
