So basically, more construction because they didn't have the foresight to incorporate the light rail into downtown Seattle.. It's almost like the people in charge of major projects have zero communication or common sense..
The original plan was never was never to have the light rails take over the Puget Sound region. It was supposed to be the monorail that’s the whole entire reason of them being proposed because they can go up gradient that are much more severe than light rails can line one is now having issues with its tunnel because we’re now seeing that light rail cannot significantly handle the demand of a rapid transit route. The tunnel suggested that it was supposed to become a rapid transit route. but after the 1962 world fair was over, there were plans for Alweg to extend the monorail the city denied it to extend the monorail into a full line. This never came about if they would’ve done this it would’ve put the Alweg system. On the map
I'd like the see the line extended with new equipment. Make the monorail what it was originally intended to do, and that's be an integral part of the downtown transit system.
The reason why I said that I was proposing a concept for them to extend the monorail around down town where Seattle starts where the people first settled at on first Street then go up and have another infull station at Bell Street connect the monorail around Seattle Center and then just have a supply because Line one was built as a light rail line, but the tunneling suggest that it was supposed to be for a rapid transit route, which never came due to them doing this this inevitably caused line one now not to be upgraded because now there is no space for them to basically add rapid transit in a light rail tunnels so the only option Seattle does have is to Seattle monorail for the center of the city I don’t want it to be changed. I just want them to update it. Add more stops more stations more trains that look like the old ones. I feel like doing too much like trying to make new stations and new greenery and tear down the old and replace with the new is what’s making everything so expensive just update what we have and just let it work it magic
how is this surprising?? you don’t have any public transport that leads from downtown to Seattle Center, you didn’t connect the light rail to Seattle Center, so the Monorail is it. For as “progressive” as Seattle thinks it is, they never think ahead for future problems, until the problem is right in front of them.
You can literally take the 1 bus, the 13 bus, OR the D bus in addition to the monorail to get from downtown to Seattle Center. Y'all are SPOILED for public transit here in Western Washington! A brisk walk and a bus transfer can get you almost anywhere for miles around! Do you even know how bad it is anywhere else in the US??
@@JeffTaylor-tr7my Seattle didn’t vote against it. Seattle had at least four attempts that Fully went through counsel just wanted to fuck up the plans and never get it off the table. I feel like what made it even worse than the 70s 80s and 90s plans rolled around with the city was just sitting up, trying to modernize it too much just extend the system by more trains that look like the old ones and have headlights and couplers to allow longer consist it’s just concrete and beams. It’s not that hard to build and to extend. We also also made it worse. Is that it was originally picked for Puget Sound because of the hilly areas and now they’re building light rail through these areas instead of building monorail I could’ve put it on the map for being one of the world wonders but we would never know

Stop pouring money into it unless you're going to EXPAND it. Either make it a proper City wide commuter service or just get rid of the thing.
The problem is elected officials promise lowering everything and tax payers don’t want to pay for anything 😅 a bad cycle. But some fundings requires state funding rather than just city or county to pay for it

This has nothing to do with "Progressives", almost no one in America knows how to future proof a City.
I wish the monorail had been laid all throughout the city, would have been the best way to get around
