- In a huge development, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday took a bold stand on the International Court of Justice, which gave a damning verdict on Israel on Friday. Contrary to the American stand, Starmer said that he will always support the ICJ and d its independence.
The last countries to oppose the apartheid in SA were Israel, USA and Great Britain. Don’t forget it.

That headline is misleading. because Keir Starmer didn't disagree with the US at all. If you listen carefully to his language he clearly stated (twice) that "he respects the independence of the UN court". He didn't say he respected their decision in this case. These are two totally different things.
Jeremy Corbyn asked him very specifically about insisting Israel remove their people from the West Bank (as stated by the UN court), you'll note he (Starmer) sidestepped that part completely and just waffled on about a ceasefire. Now a ceasefire wont be imposed by Starmer, he'll let Israel and Palestinians negotiate one which wont happen for months, if at all thereby allowing Israel to continue what it's been doing.
You need to listen to what he's actually saying and also what he's not specifically saying. Not once did he say his government would push the international court's decision on Israel.
He is going to do what the tories did and use various means to kick this issue into the long grass to allow Israel to continue what it's been doing for the last 10 months.

Extremely hollow words of 'respect for international law'. The ICJ clearly stated that self-determination is a 'preemptory norm', a fundamental legal principle from which there can be no exceptions. They specifically found that 'security' can NEVER be an excuse for annexation, subjugation, apartheid, and illegal occupation, all of which the ICJ found to be the case in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. And what about the security of Palestinians? The ruling also minces no words in saying that all 3rd countries are under an obligation to stop recognizing the illegal occupation, and to stop providing any aid or assistance that might support its continuation. Does Starmer respect that?
They can find a flea on their backsides - their non-binding, advisory and politicised opinion is NOT policy: nor will it be, as expressed by the Biden admin today. The ICJ won't find much sympathy in the newly-constituted, heavily Right-leaning EU parliament, nor in ANY US administration, inter alia.

War is a bigger polluter than all industry on the face of the earth. Mining the minerals necessary and then the factories that actually create the weapons in ammunitions all contribute to climate change. War destroys water systems and pollutes aquifers, destroys ecosystems and ammunitions is often laced with nuclear waste and contaminates the ground. And the general destruction of ecosystems makes the areas that Wars have happened in wastelands and releases tons of carbon into the atmosphere. And the biggest form of climate change that War creates is nuclear winter, which you would have to admit is a massive change in climate. The United States committed an act of terrorism by Nordstream Pipelines and it was the biggest climatic disaster in human history, including the nuclear bombing in japan. Scientists have already proven that the disaster has already influenced global temperatures.
Climate chamge increases tensions of all kinds and makes both genocide and nuclear war far more likely.
It adds pressure to situations. As the earth becomes less habitable, people become less civilized.

I think the change in tone re Gaza is simply down to the ICJ ruling and possibility of personal culpability for endorsing and supporting of the barbarity that has been aoparent from the beginning.
