    You can really tell about the quality and nutrition of your water by how fast the leather healed it’s self. I really believe you saved it. Great video!

      Hi Dave, stuff happens all the time even in pristine tanks. Don’t pay any attention to people like Chris. He’s the “Know it all” type that reef keeping collects. Most of them have no clue. I’ve seen and met these guys before. It’s comical 😁

      I have had to deal with people like that on reef2reef when I asked a question about my anemone.

      Honestly Dave, the forums are filled with people who don’t know much. There are a few who do, but if you’re new to reef keeping how does one know. I’ll probably delete him from my channel any way😃👍🏻haha

      Hey Tom do you use a dosing pump with your 2 part? I decided against the kalkwasser because the only element I need is calcium. Other than my ph every thing else is where it needs to be. My calcium stays around 370 to 380. Mg is at 1400. Dkh 10.5. To 11.5. Ph stays at 7.8. I believe that’s because my tank has the hood on it. Once I remove that and get a prime 16 light that level should come up.

      @TOMReefer  Рік тому +1

      Then you don’t need a 2 part system yet at this point Dave. Each time you do a water change, your calc, Alk, and mg will replenish. You only need to two-part if you’re using up calcium and alkalinity at a rate that water change alone won’t replenish. That’s why with a nano reef I recommend doing small weekly water changes, that way your Calc and alk won’t get too low. I would test between water changes and see if your calc and alk go below acceptable.

      Hi Dave, haha, not quite🤪yes, I’ve seen this before. I’m not completely sure it’s brown jelly disease, but it’s some form of necrosis. In the past, I found cutting it outworks, the leather heals quickly, and over time it’s as if I never did it.👍🏻

    Hi Tom! I just got my 18gal cube tank a few months ago i cycled it and all, do 15% water change every week i got my fish a few days ago, they're doing well and i just added anemone that i got from the sea, is it bad to have 2 anemone in one tank? I cant decide which to choose the other one is yellow colored anemone and the other one is purple tip anemone i love them both🥹is it okay to keep them both?

    • @TOMReefer
      @TOMReefer  Рік тому

      Hi Bogart, unless the 2 anemones are the same species, you can’t keep 2 together. The only possible way is to have a very large tank. 200 gallon +😊sorry

    Great tom way to play doctor! Again you have one of the most awsome leathers I have seen . Know that! hope it pulls through! 😢 t I have a ? . I have o phosphate and 10 nitrate. And green hair. its driving me nuts. I took rocks out and brushed and rinsed and water changed. I also dosed phosphate for 5 days still 0 .

    • @TOMReefer
      @TOMReefer  Рік тому +1

      Hi John, I would stop dosing phosphate and get a new test kit. Phosphate is what’s causing your hair algae to grow. Don’t be concerned about 0 phosphate at this point.

    does your skimmer go nutes after cutting inside the tank? and/or do a water change? Leathers can slime up good but I admit to not being experienced with them - just doing frag demos on them
    glad it looks tons better tho

    How do I stop my Blue tang from eating my corals? It’s eaten my Pulsing Xenia, Alveopora and one of my torches. I feed my fish frozen foods, nori seaweed, and a marine grazer tablet so they get plenty of food but the tang keeps nibbling away at the corals. Am I not feeding him enough?

    • @TOMReefer
      @TOMReefer  7 місяців тому

      That’s a tough one, are you feeding the nori on some form of netting where it can be eaten all day? Also, what size is your tank?

    • @physiozone
      @physiozone 7 місяців тому

      @@TOMReefer Hi Tom, thanks for the reply, yes, the nori is on clips on the glass, the grazer tablet on the suction cup, and frozen foods given with pipet. It's gotten so out of hand (this is gross) but the Tang is even eating the Fox face's poop!. My tank is about 200l. I'm getting a Nitrate spike now because of the amount of food I'm giving, but if I don't the Tang keeps eating corals like crazy.

    • @TOMReefer
      @TOMReefer  7 місяців тому +1

      @physiozone I’m not too familiar with the habits of the blue tang. They may have more ravenous eating habits then the yellow or others. 200l is quite small for most tangs, and you have the Foxface also. It could be that. The Foxface could also be doing the eating. I’ve noticed both my yellow tang and fox face will nip when I don’t have nori in the tank. It doesn’t sound that you’re not feeding enough. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

    Why corals loose color?

    • @TOMReefer
      @TOMReefer  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi Jerfry, corals losing color could possibly be a few things. Sometimes Corals need more nutrients. If your tank has very very low nutrients, this could affect colors in some corals. It could also be that your nutrients are too high, which may cause corals to look more brown in color. It may also be low magnesium. Check your parameters, nitrate, phosphate, and magnesium. 👍🏻

      @@TOMReefer hi, i test the water every time, everything is good , i was thinking maybe the feeding cuss i feed them twice a weeks? And now im dosing the tank with kalkwasser.,and feeding them more,, to see how they do,, my tank is a 13g nano reef i don’t want to do to much and mess up the water,, i do water changes every Sunday

    • @TOMReefer

      Hi Jerfry, feeding more may help. Feeding 2 times a week is not enough. Watch and see what happens. 👍🏻
