  • At the time of booking and visiting this hotel, for reference, I am a Titanium Elite Marriott Bonvoy member.
This hotel was recommended to me by some other employees at a couple of Marriott properties in Bangkok so I gave it a try and booked the cheapest room which was a King Superior Room (hoping, as a Titanium Elite member, for a complimentary upgrade).
In Thailand, I stay at many properties under the Marriott umbrella and it is quite rare now that I don’t get a complimentary upgrade to a suite! Yes, a Suite!
However, I’ll tell you what happens at this hotel later!
You can watch this review on UA-cam at Luxury Vegan Travel. I review many hotels in Thailand and worldwide as well as flights. I will be reviewing hotels in Thailand, Malaysia, USA, Singapore, India, London and more - so follow me on UA-cam at Luxury Vegan Travel.
As I arrived and climbed the steps to head to the front desk, I was greeted by Billy, the F&B Director. He offered a warm welcome as did the ladies at Front Desk. Darren, the GM, also came over and offered a warm welcome! This was nice!
At check in, I was given a couple of drinks vouchers but was not offered the complimentary upgrade I was hoping for. This was due to a large group consisting of 300 guests checking in just before me and no other rooms were available. This was very disappointing, especially as I had been liaising with the hotel via the Mobile Chat the 2 days before arrival.
As no room upgrade was available, I was offered a choice of another gift - see video for all options but I accepted 20% F&B discount. The room is 27 SQM or 291 SQ FT. Whilst this sounds small, the room itself was a good size - see video but the bathroom was small. Unfortunately, both of my towels had dirty brown stains on them (very visible) and was very concerning. I am 99% blind and I spotted them so housekeeping should have definitely spotted them!
I can’t help but think this had something to do with the large group checking in and the rush to get all rooms ready. After settling in, I wondered around the hotel and spoke to a few members of staff. Whilst walking around a staff member called Rak was so kind and friendly and offered to show me around the hotel and see the different things like where I could eat breakfast, the gym, the swim-up bar, the Deck (bar) and larger swimming pool (for adults only I think) and the kids club.
Goy the restaurant manager at Chao Leh Kitchen arranged for the chef to prepare a Vegan meal for me. She also asked the chef to change the oil before making me the French fires! This was superb service and very thoughtful!
You can choose to have breakfast at Chao Leh as this is the main restaurant but I chose to have this at Sears & Co for the first day as I was told that this is more quiet - which is what I like. Service was fantastic - Kelly and Orio were amazing! I tried Chao Leh the next morning and despite it being completely full, the service was amazing - very personal and friendly. The staff in this restaurant are so sweet and friendly!
The beach is only across the road but the road is a little busy! Being 99% blind I couldn’t get across and so could not visit the beach  The RM of Sears & Co offered to escort me across but I declined as I didn’t want to be stranded on the other side.
The kids club has some cool activities - both complimentary activities and others that are chargeable such as T-Shirt printing and Animal Mask designing! See video for full details like activities, prices and timetable.
The hotel is kind of split into two segments, front and back. At the back is where Chao Leh restaurant is as well as a host of sun loungers and the children’s pool, kid’s club and gym.
The front has a larger pool and a nice bar with stunning sunset views! The bar also has a great vibe - again amazing staff! As the hotel was so busy - remember 300 guests checked in before me and there would have been guests already at the hotel and others arriving, the hotel’s 600 rooms (572 rooms and 28 suites) would be near maximum occupancy - I enquired, how often does the hotel have these groups? I was told by Front Desk that there are normally 2 groups per week. So, on that basis, if you are looking for a quitter place to relax then this may not be for you.
Patong in general is not quiet but this hotel is 1.4km away from Bangla Road which makes it both near enough to get to, but also far away enough to enjoy some peace and quiet as well as cleaner and less busy beaches! The room rates are also reasonable and so makes this hotel quite an attractive proposition (to at least try!).
I will end on saying, I did not receive any financial or other incentive for writing this review. All of my reviews (and videos) are self-funded. If you have any questions, I am happy to try and answer them!

Very informative video, sir! My wife just booked this hotel for the 2nd week of December. After watching your video, I think our chances of staying there have shifted from 'sure' to 'maybe.' I have a few questions for you, if you are free to answer.

Another great video. I am guessing you probably won't return there based on the review.
