I'm starting to realize how much damage permanent fencing does to the land. Most dams have a spiderweb of deeply cut trails from the livestock taking the same path time after time. On my place there is a ditch inside every fence from compaction of the animals walking it constantly. I've found that feeding oats or rye hay on the scabs is a great way to get something covering them.
Hi Greg, I have access to a 30 acre block of land in New Zealand for free but it is on the market for sale. Do you recommend I put some cattle on it and take the risk that it won't sell? Or should I keep looking for some land to lease where I can get a secured lease for a few years?
Man I really like those dark red, red bulls.

If you can graze it temporarily, why not do it until someone tells you not too? Free forage? F R E E?
If it is free and it has fence and water, go for it
Flies are bad.
