I have a simple 2.0 lancer, 2003 sportswagon. Topspeed 220-225. So i assume the evo goes somewhere over that. If my infos are good, the gear ratios are quiet similar.
It's because of the short gear ratios which favor acceleration over the top speed... My Evo VII ralliart with 320hp (at the crank) achieves 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4,8 secs but the top speed is only 253 km/h (157 mph) !

Actually with the evo 9 turbo on my evo 7 acceleration is fast and pulls hard top speed is 190 mph
