I don’t know about other California Roofing Contractors. I’ve heard the same from plumbers - ever since the Newsom Covid racket in California closed the economy- business to this day August 8 2024 has NOT recovered in fact I’ll share some specifics with you. I’ve been an owner for nearly 10 years straight in Orange County and Placer County Respectively. I was nearing that million dollar sales figure with 2 crews and 3 guys including myself. Slightly over $550k at 6 months thru the year comes Newsom closing the economy. The last 3 full years we haven’t broken 6 figures in California- it’s over!

This is crazy! The best companies in Wisconsin seem to be Veteran owned.
    1.I'm veteran now
    2. Moving back to Wisconsin to start a new company.
    3. Professionals are the biggest thing missing from this industry.
I grew up in the Mukwonago area and Infinity and Semper Fi were all the rage back then.
Hoping to become the next reliable name in Southeastern Wisconsin and change the way people think of Contractors.
I doubt you have a lot of free time so if there is something that I could provide to earn some time, please let me know! Learning from people who have "been there, done that" is the best way.

Ya, the issue is all these new companies that come with million dollar investors that have no idea about actually installing a roof that just operate a marketing/sales organization that happens to have some roofing subcontractor crews. My father brought me up in the business, he's now retired and I run the company now. I still go out and check every single job myself because I'm the one who has to warranty the work. I train each salesman myself, and part of that is getting them up on the roof *during* the job and showing them and teaching them proper installation, . Because salesmen arent just salesmen who happen to sell roofs; they are roofers and should be knowledgeable enough to work on the crew.

This is what’s wrong with roofing, everything is money, money, money. The industry is plagued with people that have no experience in roofing so y’all are the ones what give us REAL roofers a bad name because y’all are the ones door knocking everyday and screwing homeowners to having these equity firms come in and make everything about money. I’ve been in roofing for 14 years as an actual roofer meaning I’ve been a roofers assistant, installer, crew chief/subcontractor, and project manager; and what I’ve learned is that everyone either slimes their way to sales tactics or scare tactics. What ever happened to actually knowing the work and doing it? Nobody cares to learn how actual roofs are installed they just want to sell and make fast money and what it does it leaves homeowners with a bad taste in their mouth of what “roofers” are but y’all aren’t roofers, essentially you guys are car salesmen what happen to be selling roofs and doing and saying whatever to sell as much as y’all can. This is why I want to start my own company and get rid of this roofing stigma that we real roofers have because y’all have given us a bad reputation.

Curious if you actually watched the video? I'd bet money you didn't. For the record if your company doesn't make money you are the problem. Be positive bud, negative energy doesn't help anyone be successful.

@@conative6517 I don’t have a company I’m going to make one, and it’s easy for you to say when homeowners are being sold to any lied to; I’ve been a real roofer for 14 years and I mean an actual installer who was also a helper and became a crew chief and also became a project manager. I saw what companies do like have scripts and the way they try every possible way to sell to a homeowner ever go as far as not even care about the homeowners and file bullcrap claims hoping insurance buys the roof or use scare tactics to pressure them to file a claim. And I’m not hating I’m disappointed and disgusted because I love everything about roofing from ACTUALLY working on roofs and helping homeowners and you guys value turned this into a business where us real roofers have a bad stigma because y’all have lied and done horrible work to the point homeowners don’t trust roofers and messed everything up. When I start my company I am going to call out y’all fake roofers with ZERO install experience that lie and tell these homeowners y’all are roofers when in reality you guys can’t even swing a damn hammer which is sad.

The thing is sales is a different skill then installing, or even paper pushing. Sales is about sharing energy and communicating well with people. I’ve met installers and repair people who don’t have great people skills at all. Honestly the ones who do the best work don’t always have skills to deal with people, let alone convince them to buy a roof. You need the persistent sales people that are willing to do those things if you are gonna have jobs and revenue for the installers. It’s how it works in the real world. We are all designed differently and that’s why we need Salespeople, installers, managers, etc
