The look of joy these guys have when they lock in and know that their groove is tight, is why I love being a musician. Woodshedding in your room is fine but youll never get that feeling that Scott had without other musicians to play with.
Kia ora Scott, I've been playing BASS for years and after only a few of your online lessons I've learnt so much. Taking it all in step by step... Amazing!! Understanding the speak, the theory and putting it into practice helps to unravel solidified playing habits built by years of "playng by ear" Gigs are great for the soul and the pocket but I'm so bored with myself that attending your classes will guarantee a bit more fun and better groove. I applaud bassists like Ida Neilson who've studied their craft at a musical Inst, then developed their own distinctive styles. You have your own style too Scot!! .Thanks so much for the lessons...Be well ♥️💛💚
absolutely beautiful, I practice guitar (loved it) BUT my first band needed a bass player (recent new band) and I bought a bass. I used to play cello for about 6 yrs prior. I guess the groove is in my blood. my guitars been laying there lonely for a while now. I just fell so in love with my bass.
This kind of thing amazes me and one day I want to be able to have this kind of intuition. Scott, you inspired me to actually go out and buy a bass. :) My fingers hurt so bad but I'm so motivated.
11:52 that "i know what you did there" look! In my opinion such exchange of glances while playing brings the joy and a different kind of enthusiasm to the floor and needless to say, to the playing!
I still put this video on repeat about once every two weeks and practice playing along with it - truly a masterclass and it sounds so killer! Deserves to be put in the spotlight honestly!
This is probably one of the best lessons I've seen on the topic. So many people are just terrified of improv, and the only way to solve it is to just GET OUT THERE, good example.
Absolutely awesome Scott! Your videos lessons are such a great inspiration for me, I'm starting to improve thanks to your lessons. Thank you so much Scott and keep up with these awesome tips!
Scott, your 13min lesson taught me more on the bass that anyone in my life up to this point. You have soooo much knowledge to offer. I really thank you. Amazing!
I love this for so many reasons... Great lesson, everyone is having a ball and band sounds amazing. I learned something new and I got to groove. Thanks Scott!
Thanks again, Scott. You're most certainly leading the way in terms of online bass tutorials. I, like thousands of others out there really appreciate the time, hard work and dedication you have been devoting to your videos. Keep up the funk mate. All the best from Wales.
Hey Scott, I'm originally a guitar player but I feel your lessons help more than just people familiar with the Bass. Thank you, keep up the good work :)
You once told us that you were rejected at the music university cause of missing formalities - now you have 4000 students. very satisfiing, isnt it ;-) greets from Heidelberg/Ger.
Practise a music instrument is the beginning of making music. Real Good Music - like here - is, when musicians play together. Thanks a lot, Scott, for this example. Fare thee well.
Really love your enthusiasm with the rest of the band! Definitely one of your best lessons yet. Please show more lessons with the band, they're very practical! Cheers
Kia ora Scott, thankyou thankyou, thank-you from NZ.. I'm so sick of being told how to play by other BASS players..play with the kick, play with the snare, play wih the high-hat, good grief, I can actually go play with the band and have fun lol. I just LOVED how you guys all demo-ed your speak...the words turned into the most beautiful music⚘ TUMEKE..too much guys!!!

Hi, Scott, your video popped up on my home page here, and I was just thinkin' last night that maybe I should take some drum lessons, because of the importance of locking in. I'm working through your Play Along series currently, it keeps me quite busy and inspired, and you talk about locking in there as well. I was very impressed with your demonstration, and was hoping as I watched that the drummer would lock in with the keys and you, and voila! Top shelf, Scott.
That was amazing even though I am not really a bass player I still enjoy watching your videos They really give me ideas to think about and what to be aware of wile playing with a bassist.
Great video here. Some of these things I already do subconsciously, but its good to get a refresher and to actually sit down and think about this stuff. Next full band practice is going to be fun! Keep it up, Scott!
Holy goddamn what!!!!!!!!!!! I was amazed by the entire sound of your tune/jam, but when the last part with the BOOM came in I've got shivers down my spine SO STRONG i COULDNT MOVE... wtf man! Give me this tune recorded or something so I can listen to it please.
Thanks, Scott. Another great lesson. And BTW, no surprise on your success. It's the love, baby! Heart and humility permeates the work you do. Peace - CR
