📣 Open comment to the friend who inspired this series 📣 Dear V, Here's me saying "Oh so Michael is the comic relief" and then realising the entire show is a comic relief hahaha Love, Babs
you should try to listen to the original 2015 album, the squip's voice and actor is less "surfer dude" and is actually kinda antagonizing and abusive. i honestly like the soundtrack from before, the vocals are a better and i prefer the actors. i think the major problem i have with the new album is that they try too hard to make everything more mainstream or funny. also, michael in the bathroom is waaaaay more emotional in the old album. but yes, please take a listen!
Yeah I really hate the surfer dude voice, it’s like the first SQUIP voice is doing Matrix Keanu Reeves and the Broadway SQUIP voice is doing Bill and Ted Keanu Reeves
I didn't see this production, so can't speak to what they were doing. But there is a community theatre production that was uploaded to UA-cam where the SQUIP progresses - starring as Bill&Ted Keanu, and moving through other Keanu roles as the play progresses and it's more sinister motivations become increasingly obvious.
This vocal glitches in The Play weren't edited - Will Roland was actually making those noises every performance! Also, thanks for listening to the Broadway album! Most people don't give it a chance, but it deserves all the recognition because Loser Geek Whatever is the best song in the show and it has the objectively better Halloween and Smartphone Hour
Wow that's awesome! Yeah I've learnt it's not everyone's cup of tea... But wait, they don't have Smartphone Hour in the original recording? That's my favourite
Barbara 2.0 They do have Smartphone Hour and Halloween in the original, don’t worry, it’s just amped up to 11 here and all the better for it. Tiffany Mann SLAYS the whole thing
Jason Tam is not a good fit as the SQUIP and the cast sound bored on the broadway one. Loser Geek Whatever is the only good thing added, I don’t like the other lyric changes, but Smartphone Hour is better I’ll admit
One sort of meta joke that most fans don't realize is that the entire song is a kind of an update on "The Telephone Hour" from Bye Bye Birdie. There, the entire town is tying up all the phone lines to gossip about the two characters "going steady". Here, kids blow up the internet over Rich starting a fire.
OK - character rundown! Jeremy is the protagonist - obviously. Most things happen to him, he is the second character to get a Squip. Michael - Michael in the Bathroom, Two Player Game, the best friend character. He's considered by the Squip to be 'a bad link to old Jeremy', it convinces him to cut Michael off (Loser, Geek, Whatever). He does actually, however, end up saving the show. Squip - Keanu Reeves, I guess. Be More Chill P.1, P.1, The Pitiful Children. Literally tries to take over everyone's mind. Christine - the love interest. (an absolute sweetheart - please listen to her songs!). I Love Play Rehearsal, Guy That I'd Kinda Be Into. She seems interested in Jeremy only as a friend, and likes Jake. The driving force for Jeremy getting a Squip. Rich - the first dude to get a Squip. He's Jeremy's bully, and The Squip Song is him essentially trying to convince Jeremy to buy one off him (he goes and buys it from someone else). He goes nuts and sets the fire talked about in Smartphone Hour. He does not die. Jake - the most popular dude in school. Upgrade, Halloween (it was his house). He previously had a thing with Chloe, who is still very attached to him, and has now moved onto Christine. He turns out to be a douche, and breaks both legs in the Halloween fire. Brooke - Do You Wanna Ride?, Smartphone Hour (verse 3). Best friend to Chloe, likes Jeremy, who is convinced to use her to climb the social ladder. They feature in Upgrade together, alongside Christine and Jake. Absolute cutie. Jenna - the 'gossip girl'. Smartphone Hour (first verse, lead), also in The Pitiful Children. She gets ignored. The third character to recieve a Squip upon being told that it'll help her be accepted. Chloe - Brooke's jealous best friend, the most popular girl in school. Smartphone Hour (second verse), Do You Wanna Hang? - where she essentially forces herself onto Jeremy while the Squip doesn't let him reject her. She was in the backing of Do You Wanna Ride, and takes lead here. Do with that what you will. Jeremy's dad, Mr Heere - dysfunctional father. The Pants Song - about him pulling himself together enough to help his son. Does not wear trousers onstage until this number. Mr Reyes - the drama teacher in charge of the school play. Kinda crappy.
Aww, I don't mind the video being longer if it means you don't skip songs. I Love Play Rehearsal is really funny and gives you a lot of insight on Christine's character and The Pants Song is the same for Jeremy's dad (not sure if you listened to them and just didn't include the footage or skipped over them entirely). I think people answered most of your questions - Rich was the one singing The Squip Song so he was the first person in the school to get "Squipped." His Squip saw Jeremy and decided he was vulnerable enough to be controlled, so it had Rich tell him to get one as well. Bit of background on The Smartphone Hour, during Halloween Rich was running around a bit crazed between lyrics asking everyone if they had any Mountain Dew Red (because Squip) and getting more and more desperate until the end when he says if he can't deactivate it then he'd just burn the house down with himself inside it. He didn't actually die, but he did get hospitalized and Jake broke both of his legs jumping out a window. The actual Smartphone Hour song is just commentary on how high school students are mostly performative when it comes to showing that they care when something bad happens, it's just to make themselves look good rather than actually caring. Loser, Geek, or Whatever ends up with Jeremy letting the Squip completely block Michael from his vision/hearing because hanging out with him isn't 'cool'. When Jeremy's at the Halloween party the Squip tells him to drink alcohol to fit in, but that temporarily deactivates the Squip which is when Michael confronts him in the bathroom but Jeremy's already brainwashed so he calls Michael a loser and walks out, prompting Michael in the Bathroom. Also fun fact, whenever multiple people with Squips come in contact with each other, the Squip will say "up up down down left right a" in order to sync them up - this is a reference to one of the first ever cheat codes in video games called the Konami Code, a sequence of inputs you could do in the pause menu of some early NES games to obtain all available power-ups for free.
Aw good to know you wouldn't mind a longer video 🥰 I always assume people will just get tired of my face haha Thank you so so much for this amazing comment! This is literally why I'm loving to do this series, been learning so much! And yes, I've listened to all the songs. The Pants Song is actually quite funny Bonus point for that last bit of information that just made the show nerdier aka even more awesome
I agree! as someone who regularly watches 40 minute videos and has sat through a twelve hour livestream, I am absolutely willing to watch something longer.
@@yee-raplantar-maximoff4318 Not entirely. Upgrade is still there, but it's heavily rewritten. You'd need to listen to the soundtrack to fully appreciate what I mean.
oof you're listening to the broadwy recording... i know a lot of people like i guess, but i just can't hear it. i really prefer the older cast recording from 2015. i'm going to try to watch the video without raging because of the music. btw i really like your backround
I also prefer the older one just because I think the new one is a little over produced, but I think if someone has never heard the show they won’t feel that way. I also think the cast on the new one is great and it’s cool to see different interpretations of the roles.
Thank you lovely! Hope you manage to go through it without hating me for choosing the wrong one hahaha I was very torn about which soundtrack to do and because I didn't know the show, I went eeny, meeny, miny, moe hahaha I'll have to listen to the other one and compare now
@@Barbara2.0 there is no wrong one. It's just that i don't really like how some people portray different characters. For example the Will Rolands (b-way) and Will Conollys Jeremys are pretty different and I just prefer the old one, cuz it's the way i learned to love him. And I still don't know how I should think about the changes in the songs I really love the old 'upgrade' and dilike the new version, but the other ones and their changes are fine ig. So it's completely alright when you listened and love the broadwaz version. I'm just used to the old one and don't like most of the changes they did
I love Will Roland Will Roland is serotonin Edit: I love that the Broadway cast is getting love I love them so much HHHHH Aaanndd edit 2: uhhh there are full bootlegs online. just saying
I know I am late, but I just found your channel and am now binging all the videos xD I absolutly love that you listened to the Broadway version without knowing the original, because everybody else is just biased when they listen to the new album. For my part. I actually knew the original version before listening to the Broadway version and totally loved it. When the new version came out I was biased too, because why would the Squip sound like a weird surfer dude? But I gave it a chance and am now even more in love with the Broadway version, because... 1) Michael is even softer (we need to protect him) 2) Will Roland as Jeremy is impresive (especially since I learned the song Loser, Geek or Whatever was somewhat written because of him (If my friend told me that correctly, so don't Quote me on that..)) 3) Tiffany Mann (Jenna Rolan) is killing it! 4) The added distorted voice in the background gave me goosebumps when I heard it for the first time and 5) Jason Tam (the Squip) nailed the young Keanu Reeves voice and needs to get more appreciation for that. Also his dance skills!! So yeah, I love the Broadway version... Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk (Ps: Sorry, if there are any language mistakes, english isn't my native language so please correct me^^)
"Thank you for coming to my Teld Talk" hahahahaha pleasure Yeah I try to start a new musical as blindly as possible for this exact reason. Being biased might make it difficult for you to appreciate some things Welcome to the channel! Hope you enjoy watching the videos as much as I enjoy filming them 😁 P.s.: I have no credibility to correct you, English is not my first language either. But hey, as long as we understand each other right? ;)
so happy it was the Broadway version. it needs more love. will rolland as jeremy is the best i don't even care. his voice cracks are perfect for the character, he actually sounds like a teenager. the main reason people hate on it so much is bc they're used to the two rivers version and that's fine, but i think the Broadway version is just as good and the "oh, he's the comedic relief" about michael made me side-eys michael in the bathroom so hard haha
General comments on your reactions: 1:00 Yeah, that's the mood they were going for: creepy sci-fi, yet strangely upbeat. Even used a theramin in the orchestra. 1:07 That moment right there, that is the reaction I always look for from people not familiar with the show. You laughing at it is definitely the right reaction, and means you're the correct target audience. 3:03 You skipped over "I Love Play Rehearsal"! While the song itself isn't very important, the ending of it is. It's the first instance of Christine subverting a line which, combined with the one from "Guy that I Kinda Be Into" shows the pattern that she bucks the trend. Makes her singing in "The Play" hurt just a little more with all that context. 3:45 Another highlight from the show. I never thought about setting it as an alarm notification, but I think I'm going to look into it now that you mention it. 6:50 Better. The Squip is acting out what to say, and then Jeremy imitates the same movements. 8:25 This song was new to the Broadway version. In the 2015 version and the Off-Broadway revival, it was "More Than Survive Reprise". Less details on the supporting characters, and more how Jeremy is more accepted on the Squip. 9:10 If you want a retro version of the story, you might want to check out the Be More Chill novel it was based on. It's written in a more 2000's setting, where shared landlines were still a thing and having a cell phone as a teen was special. More details about the book story a bit later. 9:14 *looks at all the Squip fangirls* I think the concensus is no... 9:43 Oh, you judge far too quickly... 10:09 The SECOND reaction I look for in people unfamiliar with the plot... 10:14 Well, you certainly took a 180 attitude there. You were just chewing her out for liking him now that he's changed, then you go and call her out because she doesn't instantly like him? 10:19 Jake is the popular kid. He doesn't get many singing lines, sadly, but I explained most of what you need to know about his character right there. 10:23 This song was added with the Off-Broadway revival. Basically, "Upgrade" got shortened in order to have introspective Jeremy. 11:20 Ironic that you say that, as he's basically rejecting all of that in this moment... 12:02 I'll admit, this is like the one change from the book that I don't especially like. In the book, it's left more ambiguous as to whether she actually agrees to go out with him or if he completely blew his chances with her. 13:19 I know you've gotten the answer already, but basically: Chloe (hot girl and best friend of Brooke), dressed as a sexy baby, decides to sleep with Jeremy to make Jake jealous and get back at Brooke for having a steady boyfriend. 14:38 No porn is ever shown, only alluded to. Exceptions: The show opening with Jeremy pantsless on his bed, and "The Pants Song" featuring Mr. Heere (Jeremy's father) and Michael also pantless. 15:28 Well, she had just broken up with Jake like an hour before... 16:48 Rich was the guy singing in "The Squip Song". Jeremy's former bully, they kind of become friends after their squips' sync. Also, if you heard all of that verse, you'll know it's just the rumour mill getting out of control. Like the "fled to Bombay" and "knew he was gay" lines infer. Even if... well, we'll get to that. 18:10 Actually, Mountain Dew was lifted straight from the book, only the squip activated after being swallowed, and the Payless shoe clerk suggested Mt. Dew making it easier, not necessary. Also, it was specifically Code Red Mt. Dew that deactivated it in the book, and the squip volunteered to be shut down. Let's just say the second half of this story goes a very different way. 18:25 I believe he might've been doing that manually, although it's possible there's some high-tech enhancement helping with it. Didn't really happen before the Broadway version. 19:09 Jeremy gave Christine the red Mt. Dew, she drank it, and now all the squips are turning off and everyone collapses. One small change from the 2015 version is there, he asks the squip, "She'll do whatever I want?" just before telling her to drink the last drops. 19:30 Not really in the reaction, but I just like this fact about the show: when they're heading to the chorus, Michael is standing by Rich's hospital bed (where both he and Jeremy are after their respective injuries), and Michael hits Rich cast on the third "me" and he yells out in pain. We don't linger on that, though, as the scene is changing as Jeremy goes into the chorus. 19:39 Yes, they're all friends now. No, it's about that sudden in the show, too, although there's a bit of talking to bridge it.
Oh yesss! Can't wait to see your reaction! This was my first musical lol, ik, I'm uncultured. You should seriously listen to the original recording, it's much better, for me, i listen to all of the original and then loser geek whatever. Also,, I'm sad that you don't seem to like Christine, I love her- Though seriously- no one likes the Broadway recording lmao. (You should also check out Claudia Cacace, she does amazing animatics for this musical! Like they are seriously amazing.)
Okay so I'll try and explain some things to you,, So you do know mostly about Micheal and Jermery, two udnerdogs, one wants to change and one doesn't. Rich was the one who told Jermery about the squip, and he burned down the house because he went crazy trying to get his own squip out. Also Jake is a reoccurring character that is basically hitting on Christine. If you want some more context about Jake and Christine or even just wanna hear a cute song, You should check out 'Touching my hand' which was a cut song, I'll find the link! Here it is, it's a duet with Jermery and Christine: ua-cam.com/video/UWNuuCt83Xc/v-deo.html
I am listening to the original asap! Half of the comments are telling me to do that hahaha I seriously didn't know which soundtrack to choose. And I was suspicious of Christine yes hahaha But I need to actually see the show to form an opinion. Thanks for the animatics tip btw, I'll check it out 😉
Haha no problem! You're a really sweet and cool youtuber so I hope to be able to support you any way I can! Honestly, we need more youtubers like you qwq
In “A Guy I’d Kinda Be Into (Reprise)” Jeremy’s SQUIP isn’t working, so Christine likes Jeremy for him. And she rejected him because Jake just broke her heart that night.
Another fun reaction. Another cast recording that is incredible musically is Moulin Rouge. Tho I know you said at one point you don’t really love pop, it’s so brilliantly done (and I don’t usually love jukebox musicals). Also Aaron Tveit makes me want to be a tenor. And Karen Olivo (Vanessa in In The Heights) is a goddess as Satine
Thanks Rob, you're a sweetheart! You know one thing I always wanted to know about the stage version of Moulin Rouge? Are the songs the same as in the film? Oh my God, Vanessa is my favourite in In the Heights! I'll definitely check that out 😉
Most surprising part of this music: how hot Squip dude was. Even though he didn’t look like Keanu in the UK version. It was a good night out! You should have gone with me. 😎
@@Barbara2.0 Bitch, I DID! I don't think they changed the lyrics because I remember going "does he though?" For the record, the poster at The Other Palace announced this as 'Little Shop of Horrors meets Mean Girls' and I think that's an apt way of describing this show.
Hahahaha I know you did 😜 Hmmm that doesn't mean much to me cause I know nothing about 'The Little Shop of Horrors' apart from there's a carnivore plant involved xD
I’m seriously loving the reaction there so funny 😂😂😂 But seriously I see this show get hated on a lot but I just always thought it was an acquired taste (aka being a gigantic nerd) Also alternate title for this should be nerd on Japanese Keanu Reefs drug O and also can’t wait to see you do heathers or hadestown
I wish this was the original one. I hate the characterisation of the SQUIP in this one. I love Jason Tam but not for this part. Eric William Morris is the best IMO
@@crabbie7180 the only other cast album version IS the Two Rivers original cast version so clearly that’s what I meant. Jason, Tiffanny, and Will joined the cast sometime after and then it went to Broadway. But Eric William Morris played the SQUIP off-Broadway at least for a short time. Anyway, don’t be pedantic you knew exactly what I meant.
This is the first video that I've watched with you and I absolutely love you! You're so relatable and I love Be More Chill so muchhh, especially the Broadway version, so thanks so much for this.
Thank YOU for being so sweet! That warms my heart ❤ I'm very happy you enjoyed it and hope the videos always put a smile on your face. Welcome to the channel!
@@kylebroflovski6096 ig people just got used to the original version and didn’t like the changes. I personally love both versions and the different ways the characters are portrayed.
Although I personally prefer the older version, there are some gems in the Broadway version. Both Jennas are amazing but they add a bunch of riffs and shit in this version. Also, Pitiful Children is my favorite song, and although I prefer the old version’s lack of a dude-bro surfer voice, the instrumental is SO GOOD in the Broadway version. Also, in the few times that the squip stops doing the surfer voice, he sounds kinda hot 👉👈 Also, some people prefer Will Connolly’s portrayal to Will Roland’s, but they’re both pretty epic ngl. Also Will Roland’s glitching sound effects? AMAZING. It’s not edited at all he just does them and I don’t understand how. Also, I like Upgrade better in this version (although I do miss a certain line in that song lmao).
Can I just say that you're adorable! You making other musical references is totally awesome. Love this video I like both albums, but I absolutely despise the new Squip's speaking voice. If it weren't for that I think I would listen to the Broadway recording a little more often, but because of that I find it hard to get through it. And just to say I don't think it's nostalgia, because I've listened to the original one day before the Broadway one
Aw thank you lovely 🥰 Glad you enjoyed it! I really need to listen to the original recording soon because the Squip seems to be everyone's issue with the Broadway recording and it's making me more and more curious hihi
i know im super duper late but ive just done this production with my sixth form and omg do i ever love it! i do backstage management and it was soooo fun, if you still havent watched the show in person i really recommend it!
My favorite song still has to be "Michael in the Bathroom". And I didn't ship Jeremy and Kristine eather, becouse there was clearly a better fit for him since he alredy had a player 2 who totaly deserved better! xD
Your reactions are so fun to watch and you seem so nice and interested ✨ I’d suggest listening to Falsettos or the Book of Mormon, I think you’d enjoy both!
Thank you lovely! I am genuinely interested though, loving to learn everything about these shows. And your suggestions are both on the list, so coming soon 😉
Sorry if this is a weird question, but will you ever listen to the original version of the soundtrack? To be honest, I think both version are pretty great, both having their own charm (but I do have a bias for the original, lol XD). I’m no good at asking questions in comments, ahaha lol.
I have totally enjoyed this series! I'm gonna need you to react to Legally Blonde. Being a fan of the movie I finally sat down and watched the musical and it is SO MUCH BETTER! If you like empowerment songs....this is the show for you!
If you have a crush on this squip’s voice you should listen to the off Broadway album. Also like your not the only one who doesn’t ship Christine and Jeremy (quite a few people ship Jeremy and Micheal). I’m so sad lol, I had tickets to the West End production of Be More Chill and they were just as quarantine started so I never got to see it 💔 ps I love your Wednesday Addams shirt so damn much
Aw sorry to hear about your tickets, I had a couple that were refunded as well and I don't think I've ever been that sad about getting money from someone hahaha 😞 P.s.: Thank you! Wednesday is my favourite ❤
I know almost nothing about this musical aside from the bare minimum premise so I'm pretty much with you reacting to this one XD, though I've heard a bit of the soundtrack (just bits and pieces) and I know it's not super my thing
That's what I love about this show. For example how many other shows give you the chance to an incredibly advanced supercomputer inside a teenagers brain that tells him how to be cool and get the girl of his dreams?
If you want an explanation to Do You Wanna Hang, Chloe(who is singing) wears a “Sexy Baby” outfit and she has a bottle of “milk(it’s really just alcohol)”
You should react to Jagged Little Pill the musical !!!! It’s a jukebox musical based on Alanis Morisette’s music, they create a story based on the songs and it’s really amazing!
I was literally talking about this the other day. I absolutely love Alanis and UA-cam recommended me this clip of one of the characters singing You Oughta Know the other day but the actress was so amazing I watched it like 4 times in a row. I'll definitely check that out. Thanks for the suggestion ;)
Damn seeing everyone in the comments complaining that you listened to the Broadway version instead of the Two River version makes me kinda sad. Sorry I'm about to rant a lot, but I mean, there are song changes in the Broadway version I personally don't like, like Upgrade and Halloween, but the Broadway version isn't so bad that everyone has to speak highly of the original and lowly of the Broadway. I understand that people prefer the Two River version over Broadway but again, seeing people hate the Broadway version and Will Roland as Jeremy or Jason Tam as the SQUIP just in general in my eyes is extremely rude. Like, on Jeremy's Fandom wiki page the comments are filled with hate for how Will Roland sings the way he did and how he 'can't sing'. He chose to sing that way, he wanted to. And Jason wanted to put on that voice, imitating Keanu Reeves if you must since the SQUIP is supposed to look like him. Sorry I just see this stuff a lot and it makes me pretty upset.
Omg I hate all the hate for Will Roland. He’s an amazing singer (better than Connolly in my opinion) and he fits the role of Jeremy amazing. Same for Jason. I prefer him as SQUIP because he adds so much more character. Will Roland as well. You can tell just by listening to the soundtracks that the Bway one sounds way more into character.
Wow. I definitely prefer the Two River recording for bmc, but I mean HOW COULD YOU HATE WILL ROLAND OR JASON TAM?! WHAT?! Like, Pituful Children is definitely not as good as stuff but I do like some of the Broadway songs. How could someone not like the person who also plays as the InSaNeLy CoOl JaReD kLeInMaN?!
What I like about Broadway S.Q.U.I.P is just how approachable he seems. While Two river S.Q.U.I.P felt like a strict and condescending teacher Broadway S.Q.U.I.P felt more like that friend who is just offering some advice. It makes him seem more trustworthy in my opinion
I'm enjoying your reaction videos. This one is a charming musical that I discovered after Dear Evan Hansen (Will Roland plays Jeremy in Be More Chill was Jared in DEH). It is definitely one of my favorites too. You should check out Emojiland! The premise of the story is life as an emoji inside a smart phone. The music is fun (read INCREDIBLE) and the story is surprisingly good! Check it out!
If you're subscribed to the channel you'll get a notification about Heathers VERY soon hehe It's the West End cast though because I already know the Broadway recording. Thanks a lot for the suggestions though, they're all on the list already, so coming soon... ;)
@@Barbara2.0 Cool can't wait! I do love the west end version as well (seeing as I'm in the UK ;-;) and I subscribed as soon as you reacted to my favourite musical of all time, Beetlejuice! I really love your videos and can't wait for more! :)

Aw good to know you wouldn't mind a longer video 🥰 I always assume people will just get tired of my face haha
Thank you so so much for this amazing comment! This is literally why I'm loving to do this series, been learning so much! And yes, I've listened to all the songs. The Pants Song is actually quite funny
Bonus point for that last bit of information that just made the show nerdier aka even more awesome
@@Barbara2.0 Building on the Konami Code easter egg, that was actually lifted straight from the book.
I agree! as someone who regularly watches 40 minute videos and has sat through a twelve hour livestream, I am absolutely willing to watch something longer.
So Loser, Geek, Whatever replaced Upgrade? Aww, I loved that song :(
@@yee-raplantar-maximoff4318 Not entirely. Upgrade is still there, but it's heavily rewritten. You'd need to listen to the soundtrack to fully appreciate what I mean.
That face at "is... jake" (10:11) is me everytime, even though I know all the words.
oof you're listening to the broadwy recording... i know a lot of people like i guess, but i just can't hear it. i really prefer the older cast recording from 2015. i'm going to try to watch the video without raging because of the music. btw i really like your backround
I mean, I prefer the older one but the new one is just... Meh to me.
I'm just used to the old one and don't like most of the changes they did
Totally understandable! I'm definitely checking out the old one now, seems to be everyone's favourite
"wait, Rich is DEAD!? ...who's Rich again?" this was literally me when I saw the show
Michael: *having a panic attack*
Barbara: *dances at his sad*
I love Will Roland Will Roland is serotonin
Edit: I love that the Broadway cast is getting love I love them so much HHHHH
Aaanndd edit 2: uhhh there are full bootlegs online. just saying
SAME FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES!!
I know I am late, but I just found your channel and am now binging all the videos xD
I absolutly love that you listened to the Broadway version without knowing the original, because everybody else is just biased when they listen to the new album.
For my part. I actually knew the original version before listening to the Broadway version and totally loved it.
When the new version came out I was biased too, because why would the Squip sound like a weird surfer dude?
But I gave it a chance and am now even more in love with the Broadway version, because...
1) Michael is even softer (we need to protect him)
2) Will Roland as Jeremy is impresive (especially since I learned the song Loser, Geek or Whatever was somewhat written because of him (If my friend told me that correctly, so don't Quote me on that..))
3) Tiffany Mann (Jenna Rolan) is killing it!
4) The added distorted voice in the background gave me goosebumps when I heard it for the first time and
5) Jason Tam (the Squip) nailed the young Keanu Reeves voice and needs to get more appreciation for that. Also his dance skills!!
So yeah, I love the Broadway version...
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk
(Ps: Sorry, if there are any language mistakes, english isn't my native language so please correct me^^)
"Thank you for coming to my Teld Talk" hahahahaha pleasure
Yeah I try to start a new musical as blindly as possible for this exact reason. Being biased might make it difficult for you to appreciate some things
Welcome to the channel! Hope you enjoy watching the videos as much as I enjoy filming them 😁
P.s.: I have no credibility to correct you, English is not my first language either. But hey, as long as we understand each other right? ;)
not as late as me bestie
so happy it was the Broadway version. it needs more love. will rolland as jeremy is the best i don't even care. his voice cracks are perfect for the character, he actually sounds like a teenager. the main reason people hate on it so much is bc they're used to the two rivers version and that's fine, but i think the Broadway version is just as good
and the "oh, he's the comedic relief" about michael made me side-eys michael in the bathroom so hard haha
General comments on your reactions:
1:00 Yeah, that's the mood they were going for: creepy sci-fi, yet strangely upbeat.
A lot happens between songs in Act 2, so it can be extremely difficult to follow. Understandable.
The original soundtrack is much much better also just as a suggestion
Thanks Josie! Yeah literally everyone said that hahaha This is why I need you guys to help me 😆
It is better and the Squip is WAYYYYYYY BETTER

Okay so I'll try and explain some things to you,,
So you do know mostly about Micheal and Jermery, two udnerdogs, one wants to change and one doesn't.
Thanks for the animatics tip btw, I'll check it out 😉
This is so great, thank you so much! Really appreciate it 🥰

I don't think giving one ❤ is enough, so here: ❤❤❤❤❤
1:26 “the bus is walking”

You should've invited me! 😢 Hahaha jk Did they change the Keanu bit in the lyrics then?
@@Barbara2.0 Bitch, I DID! I don't think they changed the lyrics because I remember going "does he though?" For the record, the poster at The Other Palace announced this as 'Little Shop of Horrors meets Mean Girls' and I think that's an apt way of describing this show.
Hahahaha I know you did 😜 Hmmm that doesn't mean much to me cause I know nothing about 'The Little Shop of Horrors' apart from there's a carnivore plant involved xD

I wish this was the original one. I hate the characterisation of the SQUIP in this one. I love Jason Tam but not for this part. Eric William Morris is the best IMO
Same.
i think youre talking about the two-river cast. the off-broadway cast is the same as the broadway cast.

@@aureliaaurita6653 Agreed. I love stoned Michael and og Michael😅
Love this video
I like both albums, but I absolutely despise the new Squip's speaking voice. If it weren't for that I think I would listen to the Broadway recording a little more often, but because of that I find it hard to get through it. And just to say I don't think it's nostalgia, because I've listened to the original one day before the Broadway one

I absolutely love Alanis and UA-cam recommended me this clip of one of the characters singing You Oughta Know the other day but the actress was so amazing I watched it like 4 times in a row.

Why does everybody hate on the Broadway album? I like it better than Two River 🧍🏻♀️

pls listen to Jagged Little Pill! It's awesome!
I'm the biggest Alanis fan and the other day UA-cam recommended me this clip of one of the characters singing 'You Oughta Know' and the actress was so good I watched it 4 times in a row. Conclusion: I am definitely checking that out! Haha Thanks for the suggestion ;)
@@Barbara2.0 omg literally same with 'You Oughta Know'. The original bway cast recording is as good as the Alanis' album, hope you enjoy it!
pleasee listen to the off broadway album, it’s soo much better
please react to Hadestown
I hate Be More Chill... JK, I hate the broadway. I love the original though.
Ugh I hate the S.Q.U.I.P.'s Broadway talking voice, Everything else in the Broadway version is fine tho, but Surfer/Bootleg Keanu is too much for me.
In do you wanna hang she’s dressed up as a baby that’s the reason for the mentions of diapers and milk
I personally don't like the Broadway recording that much (sorry) and prefer the Off Broadway recording... still a great reaction
The Broadway version is inferior.
Listen to the off-Broadway. It's much better.
You should definitely listen to the off broadway cast it sounds so much better than the broadway cast and there’s so much more emotion
God I hate Jeremy in the Broadway version that stupid nasally voice the actor is doing just drives me insane
