It was a pretty substantial nerf, stepovers are pretty trash. Not completely unusable, but using them every time you touch the ball doesn't work anymore
@@---ej1zb Exactly! Now we’ll have to work 10x harder to open up a drop back defence. I’ll still finish elite but it’s just more effort than it needs to be now. Stallion is gonna eat his words once everyone goes mega drop back and possession hoards now I promise
@@---ej1zb so you had to use an OP skill move to unlock a defence. The only thing that tells me is that defending is overpowered. Instead of making stupid nonsense op skill moves, they need to nerf the shit out of AI defending.
@@---ej1zb if you are good enough there are a lot more skills than just the step over, I’m glad they’ve nerfed it. Now people need to learn a variety of skills not just stepovers
This is the first video, which I highly disagree on stallions opinion. I don’t need to mention the valid contra arguments again, since the comment section is full of them. Short explained: defending is gonna be more easy now. Stallion, don’t u realize that these steps are bringing us close to fifa 20 again. The worst fifa ever? As long as Ea don’t fix the non existent balance of the game, they need to keep these effective skill moves in game. Even if they are idiotic
@@ahuman138 I barely use stepovers and I still beat players. The fact they can no longer abuse this mechanic means more space will open up. Those stepovers helped them get into attacking positions they couldn't. Now they'll get desperate and lose possession.
@@ahuman138 fifa 20 wasn’t even the worst game lmaooo everyone loved how easy it was to score low drivens across the keeper which is mad realistic low and hard . removing a anime speed boost step over cause you feel there isn’t a balance there hasn’t been a balance in fifa in mad long . Inconsistent gameplay already makes the “balance” of the game a fake thing . so yeah you saying keep step overs is pretty sad my guy not gonna lie 😂 you just been the dude who did like 40 against stallion 💀
The bridge suffers heavily from bad gameplay, much more than the stepovers and it can only be used near the box. Nobody is going to use the bridge in midfield.
Yes but he makes a valid point. I can see the ball (when the shading is working), the mechanic, the grass and the defender. Someday what you see will be real. When your opponent shows you the ball and you tackle, no magic force field will stop you from toe punching it out. I’d like to see real life brought up more. I mean whey are we trying to train or brains to fight reality and then not understanding why we are so mad.
one huge thing still buffles me how its still in the game ... Tackle from behind should almost always result in a red card .. how hard is that.. poeple actually abusing tackles from behind in a goal threatening chance and get away with it..
@@rafaelcsmaia I've seen worse. Sometimes not even a card, just a foul. And the worst is there are some players who abuse that all the match as they know there will be no red card.
What I gather from this is that “pros” want a skill gap in terms of what they can do on a controller rather than having actual football knowledge. They really love mechanics that you can just abuse and it’s sad that a competitive sports game came to this. Great vid as usual
That’s what separates a pro from a a beginner. Finding out what’s broken in the game and keep abusing it is a pro, nothing wrong with that because it’s EA own incompetence to not fix those issues.
@@peanutbutterchocolatecake6182 I guess you mean what separates a pro from a beginner in fifa. Because. Take other actual esports titles and it is skill, reactions, intelligence what separate pros from begginers. Fifa isn't really a competitive esports. It's a contest to see who is able to find the most advantageous ways to exploit the broken mechanics and make the most out of all the wrong things in the game that keep it away from being an esports game.
“Skills moves are getting nerfed too much, how are we supposed to win a game?” Can obviously tell these people have not got the slightest clue about football, do they know there is this weird tactic called a “pass”, how can you not learn to use and master the most fundamental and vital tactic in the sport, these idiots suprise me more and more every time with their bamboozling comments.
In real life football i haven't seen ronaldo or Messi doing 1000 stepovers or anu fancy skills per min. Skills are meant be rarely used, are never meant to be abused and max football is played upon passes and u r right buddy fully agreed...

Yeah sorry when passing is so shit and inconsistent in this game then I have to disagree. Simple through balls that you would expect to work don’t go through. Stallion literally made a video about this 2 weeks ago.
Why you ppl comparing with real football. In real football, the duration is 90min plus extra time. So nerfing the skills is not good. I am against that. Already they nerfed alot.
Is the patch better for people like me who actually play football with passing and movement being key to score. Haven't played FIFA for about 1 month so just wondering.
YES. IT IS. I'm a PC player who try to play actual football without spamming skillmoves and stuffs. And it has improved by a hell lot since the last patch.
Yes it is. I play on PC, only issues left are referee (which has been improving) and goalkeepers not diving or diving backwards. Also, players still cancel their runs randomly.
@@TheBlackDevil7 I use to play Pes alot more than FIFA but I stopped playing games for a while came back to FIFA 17 I may try Pes again. I have game pass so worth a try.
I love all this, i am all for a more realistic gaming experience.. But when are we gonna be honest with our selves and admit that fifa is arcade, not simulation.. Anyway great content bro, bless
Yeah it's pretty obvious that fifa is too fast paced to be called anything but an arcade game. It has to be or nobody would score a goal in the small time a Fifa match takes place. But personally I think the game should at least be similar in its core principles. Everyone spamming tricks like they are playing football in the streets of Brazil isn't one of them
You are underrating the cognitive potential of other people, the so called “step over spammers” They will find a way to play effective again, it’s not that they are this stupid and now falling from divison1-2 - 6-7. Problems are much deeper, whole game needs to be restructured. But as i said on another comment, as long as defensive ai is this op(=offensive ai is bad) and the structure keeps the same, we need a “balanced” option to handle drop back players better.
Pass assistance still works so they’ll just spam the pass button with their back turned and it’ll still be a perfect pass or it’ll go around you if you cut the passing lane
nah actually the basis of his game is defense, if anything that is going to get better. and he (like a lot of the pros) has every tool, just gonna have to adapt a bit
@@Daaneskjold yea he's talented as fuck he'll def adapt but i could see him losing a few weekend league games to other pros while he figures out how to attack without spamming like 2000 step overs a game, i could be wrong tho time will tell.
The only ones complaining are the ones that don't understand football. Watch an actual match and count the stepovers used. I assure you they don't do a stepover every time they touch the ball
FIFA players don’t watch football, just highlights. That’s why they say things like “watch how Neymar plays, he also does skill moves” Yeah buddy, but he can’t do them the whole fucking match and they are rarely efective.
I'm a purist, in real life very few players can pull off a stepover. Especially effectively, so seeing every player in a person's team pull off it nauseating. Just because there are broken mechanics doesn't mean you should abuse them. EA aren't the problem, it's really desperate players doing anything to win.
@@Collabcreatemarketing Harry Maguire does not do proper stepovers. And he certainly doesn't beat anyone with them. Very few players can pull off an effective stepover. I'll give you an example look at Kurt Zouma's epic missed chance. His stepovers were very slow, now compare that to Neymar and Mbappe. Night and day. On top of that players don't do stepovers in their defensive third.
I don't get how this cancelled shot animation debate even has any logic. The game has a fake shot skill move and the defenders don't fall over like they just had a stroke when you do that. So why should they fall over when I essentially did the fake shot skill move only via a different method, ie, shot cancelling?
I'm an average pc fifa player and i haven't lost a match since the patch. For me, not knowing how to do any kind of dribbling, slowing skills down has helped me be extra consistent in defense.
The biggest thing they need to patch is the scripting in the game, if you leading the game 1 - 0 and the opponent comes down to your goal they keep getting the ball bk after every tackle you make, the game is scripted to be competitive so it can end 10 - 11 every game
I have had this too many times bro, once the ball went through my defenders leg, and many times i have seen crazy animations happening in order for my opponent to score againgst me, I always try to laugh it off though, even though I have broken 4 controllers
Stepovers still added to having a skillgap so I am sad to see them go without seeing changes to defending and regular dribbling at the same time. People are using stepovers and bridges and flick ups, because the fundamental mechanics of this game like left stick dribbling and consistent passing don't work. Imo EA should boost the basic mechanics to a solid level and not drop down the other mechanics to the same low so that you end up without anything. I actually somewhat agree on the comparison with fifa 19. The game had nothing to do with actual football, but the skillgap was miles bigger than on the wannabe simulation that was Fifa 20 which ended up being a complete snoozefest. If I got the choice then I'm always choosing skillgap and entertainment over boredom and realism. I also have 0 faith in EA to ever create a fun simulation of the real sport. It's always going to be either super arcadey or super boring in a flawed attempt to add realism.
I normally agree with your opinions but on this, I have to disagree. I’m a player most people would refer to as a “skiller” and the fact of the matter is playing the game how football is played irl is boring. 90% of fifa players who cry about step overs and other skill moves are drop back, 1 depth, 3 width possession merchants with 99 defending van dijk. I’m an elite player and i’ll still be an elite player after the nerf but having to sit through 30 rivals games and 30 weekend league games where I have to sweat my life out against players parking the bus and defending passively because their van dijk’s AI will automatically intercept every pass I make is boring and exhausting.
@@FailToilet I do that sometimes but on pc I end up having to play about 10-15 rivals games for rank 1. I don’t play any fifa after WL till Friday/Saturday so i’m rusty when I start rivals and end up losing/drawing my first few rivals games till I get warmed up
nerfing step overs was a mistake... u can get the ball if u get some balls and tackle in the right moment. they should nerf skills like bridge or elastico since there is nothing u can do to prevent your defence from glitching... its so sad
I do stepovers only in a 1v1 situations moving forward (no spamming). I don't have the time or energy to train myself to learn all the animations, tricks etc. Stallion I almost always agree but I don't abuse fifa 10 meta tricks or trade/spend a year salary on my team. And there is no way, I can do a rainbow or any other tricks against idk VVD, Freeze Traoré, Showdown Klaiber, Varane, Walker or whv. I will lose every freaking WL without stepovers. fine to disagree, just stating my view in this video. Just sad to see the state of the game and part of the community. It wasn't too long ago when people used skills as an extra , like the berba spin in fifa 17, where it was good but it was never the only thing to do. I miss the days where people didnt want to do the same thing every 1v1, but hey we like what we like.

if they fix passing, nerf ai defense, and buff the attacking ai, then we are going to talk about a very good simulating game which is related to real football
Thinking of the blocking animation, this should be done when doing a fake shot with a player that has high agility, balance and dribbling, not cancelling a shot
But still only for AI players. It could nerf AI defending a little bit. But those animations should only trigger if you time it really well or make the fake shot harder to execute

Cry more and watch some real football, noob. Nobody is spamming step-overs or elasticos in real life like all the chavvy kids used to do in Fifa. Finally EA released this patch
@@senseisama3974 oh is it. Thank you for giving me the eternal knowledge of real football and video game. If you think you need real football in game, then everything should be similar, only nerfing the skill moves doesn't give you real football in game.
Stepovers wasnt a big deal for me, the boost touch was. I am very good at defending and almost anyone was able to beat me with stepovers but I destroyed a lot of defenders with it so for me, this patch is someting bad, well its just a game so its no big deal. I prefer beating someone with (manual) stepovers than with automatic passes or crosses in behind that I have no control of and things like pressure or tactics which are not involved in hands hability.
Im so glad this patch is happening. I was playing wl. It was 3-3, 90 mins, opponent makes run, hets in front of goal, cancels shot then the keeper just dives and its basically an open goal
YES YES YES, thx Stallion. Was already shocked that a lot of youtubers said, its bad that they nerf step over. They should fix drop back, manual interception and offensive AI, not create some strange meta skill to counter it. And like you said, PLS NO MORE NUTMEGS!
I am all for removing assisted passing in the competitive modes. I love playing full manual but I have to use assisted passing in weekend league because I just can't compete otherwise. Full manual will slow the game down and promote better passing football. It will also make passer ratings mean something instead of any player being able to hit through balls on a dime 50 yards down the field. It's ridiculous.
You want full manual authentic slow and real football then try Pes , the premise of fifa is to have fast quick basic football games for fun , pes is more in depth in my opinion
I have the same feeling towards juggling the ball. Those kickoff juggle goals are so lame... They should nerf it. Please try to play football.... EA Step-over/Juggle 21. Or someone tell me how to stop it because standing in front of someone doesn't work and tackling also doesn't work without triggering a penalty. xD My God do I hate this game. Except for playing Co-op and scoring nice football goals together and the game actually works. Then this game is heaven.
I really don't like the whole idea of powering skills, football is really a game of strategy in my opinion. Skills are rarely a reason for winning games in real life. The teams that win know how to defend well and know how to pass and attack efficiently. If I were to choose something in this game to make it more like football, I would look into passing and nerf all skills
The thing is now it’s only about passes - you can’t score outside the box obviously - inside the box you can’t score because of autoblocks - the only thing is trough balls right now and pass back and forth until some of your strikers is positioned good enough for a trough ball that patch is a big no no. Bringing the game back to fifa20 meta - shielding and trough balls which was sooo boring. Where is the skillgap if you just wait and pass a trough ball passt defenders? Once defenders are in the box it’s pretty difficult to score without passing back and playing the same tactic over and over. Rip fifa2020
Great analysis Stallone , loved the moment where you showed a real life step over ( doppio Passo in Italian ). It shows very simply how the game does not reproduce the skill properly. Even though I just play pro club at the moment , I really hope that this patch will push people to create offensive actions through passing. Great work man 💪🏻🇮🇹
Quality video as per. Always for a realistic experience and this is the one thing EA needs to realize to improve the game each edition. You hit it right on the head.
First of all, every patch is dogshit unless it nerfs the AI Blocks. This FIFA will go down as one of the worst in history because of this shit. Also the fact that they nerfed the shot cancel just shows that this game is catered to little timmys no thumbs. I am sorry Stallion, but youre not some tiki taka master because you can create good plays with a birds eye view camera, everyone can do that shit. It actually takes skill to do stuff like fake shot cancels and Elasticos and waka wakas. And the shot cancel is the most realistic feature that was added to fifa for years. Its literally the answer to drop back, just like in real life. I agree with the step over nerf tho, it was too easy to do and created more space than 5 star skills. Overall, this patch takes us back. Dribbler/Skillers exist in football. Not every one plays like prime barca, and even in prime barca there was neymar Dihno henry etc who would d skill moves to break down defenses.
What do you think of having auto blocks for when you are well positioned in front of an attacking opponent and a button for a manual a lunging/diving block for when they create some space on you. This will make for a good mind game whether you want to commit to try to block a shot, but risk leaving your defender exposed if the attacker fakes a shot. It's quite a similar situation to real life fake shots.
All I want is a proper football game. Not some unrealistic skillmove simulator. As a PC player, in the last couple of days since the patch, my enjoyment while playing fifa has gone up by leaps and bounds.
Team Press is what really needs to be nerfed. If you don't know how to manually press through fast switching then you shouldn't be able to press. Instead with that team press bs, a 10 yo kid could have AI performing pep guardiola's barcelona perfect pressing for him. All the mechanics that involve no actual skill for the player to be performed should be nerfed to the minimum.
@@santiagodeestrada9129 Those are not buffed imo.. but I understand everyone would have different modifications to apply to the game.. so, fair enough. I think that the important thing is balance to make the game enjoyable and fair. And nerfing the team press the balance would be re-estabilished imo.
i think everyone would rather have the auto blocks completely nerfed and just make rebounds off tackles less likely so people can actually have fun and be able to score longshots again
I play PES and wish it had some FIFA features including auto switching move assistance. However it seems FIFA needs the PES feature: user option to enable or disable auto tackling/blocks. Then WE get to choose!
I loved this video. My favorite part “hording possession” was already a problem before the step overs and can only be solved by allowing for more effective two man pressures, nerfing automated passing and fixing manual interceptions. Yeah. This is crazy. AI defenders are better at interceptions than manual. It’s so hard to get a manual interception even when you know what the opponent is going to do and you perfectly position your defenders. The AI passing is so strong a person spamming standard passes up the field can master build up play. I try contain and even to switch between defenders to create a two man press and the passes magical escape. It’s crazy.
you sir, you are amazing.... tried to explain this to my friends and they go apeshit saying that nerfing this shit is reducing the skill gap, that players that are able to do it shouldn't be penalized and bla bla bla bla bla bla... I say, I'm not saying that skill moves should be removed, I say that in no football game in real life I see a player do 20 skill moves in a row and score! It might happen once in a blue moon but it's the exception! So don't allow that shit to happen all the time in a supposedly football simulation game! I completely agree with everything you said here and in the 2nd man pressing videos and in the passing videos... those are the things that need fixing and be placed in the game, not the ability of doing 20 Skill Moves in a row... I want to play Football, not Mortal Kombat!
I had no idea that people actually wanted skill moves to be a designator of how good you are rather than actually tactically being better and more intelligent than your opponent. I agree, this game shouldn't be about how proficient you are at doing skill moves on a controller.
Subscribed! Great video, review and thoughts! It's always annoying to come up against opponent who abuses skill moves and etc, especially when they start juggling their way to the box, like how often do you see footballer juggling ball passed all defenders in real football?! One in a thousand matches? Oh wait, fifa is a football SIMULATOR lol
Stepping over to cut inside on the ball side in the real world would be one of the most inefficient movements possible, why you never see it in the pro sport. It would make more sense for the body feint be OP in this instance as the exit from feinting is generally explosive unless the defender is completely sold.
If they want to keep the shot cancel it should only work against no human controlled defenders... however it should make you vulnerable when a user defender is being controlled.
He makes a valid point with the step overs and generally. I can see the ball, the mechanic, the grass, and the defender. I can see a clear path to take the ball. Someday what you see will be real. When your opponent shows you the ball and you tackle, no magic force field will stop you from toe punching it out. I’d like to see real life brought up more. I mean why are we trying to train our brains to fight reality and then not understanding why we are so mad.
In situation where the ball Carrier would fake shot, the defender could perform unintended blocking animation, is now nerfed. So you mean to say that defenders will no longer auto block our shots? Because If they still block shots, but don't fall to a shot fake then AI defending becomes even more powerful that before isn't it? So guy can just shuttle with his CDM waiting for their defenders to do the work
If I am controlling my defender and I know you are not gonna shot why would I fall for it?. If I knew you were gonna shot I could just tackle you but you are right a.i defending is too o.p. But if you see a defender fall every time u hit fake shot then guess what the new meta is gonna be. 🤔
@@crism4215 if you tackle that's fine, when I switch flanks and quickly take a shot before you can realistically switch into a defender and position them for a block, the AI defends. If that's all that happens, then guess what- no one will shoot, only fake shot. Let's not even mention how shit the long shooting is giving players another reason to never shoot
I’m on pc stopovers don’t seem different at all, press is lessened the length but not it’s effectiveness where every player can be marked at once and chased immediately, but I’m pretty happy it’s not automatically pressed when you give up possesipn
There's many problems with this game - but the number 1 for me, that I cannot find much info on, is that the game changes your camera angle in certain stadiums. For a game with a strong competitive community this is such a huge flaw in the game. I have to play so many games with a camera angle that I do not like. Anybody else have this issue? I play Tele Broadcast Custom 16-1 by the way. But half the games it's closer to default so I switch to 20-1 but it's still way different.
And created an actual football game?? WOW! You mean without someone doing a fake shot 30 meters from goal and it having no effect on the match? To God's ears, sir...
Something I’ve always said, and it matches with the logic you’ve put into this video with the AI making your manually controlled players fall over; I hate the fact when an opponent turns on constant pressure it affects all of your players and there’s nothing you can do about it. If an opponent wants to push all his players into attack with aggressive interceptions and get into box then it should be up to yourself to stay composed and deal with the pressure, instead I’m punished for trying to defend against it manually.
I have been playing in PC and this patch’s only issue is they changed referee decisions. Any slight touch on the player is a foul. Step overs are basically non existent again, you can still do them but on actual real situations. In general very good update, sometimes the weird interception issue where the players remove his feet still happens but not that much and this has been like this for an entire month, no idea why it only just got released on console.
If I shot-cancel and you try to tackle me but instead Fell over cuz I just tricked u, that shouldn’t be a problem. Thats a skill. U shouldn’t fall if u just standing
The same thing happened in either fifa 19 where timed fines shots was overpowered I loved it when that patch when through I started to thrive because those were the only goals I would really concede and I never used it so it was dope
I honestly think the super cancel shouldn't be nerf rather modified. Super cancel shouldn't work when cancelling a skill move midway. It shouldn't trigger a block animation from a controlled defender.
well said man, it rewards the fundamentals of football, not the fundamentals of being a brilliant at using a controller. that's what a football game should be about. Nerfing it makes it slightly more realistic, people just don't like change. I'm gonna have a horrendous weekend, getting used to my rb button being broken, on an already replaced controller and having to map the paddles to just change player, sometimes we have to change muscle memory, but in a couple of weeks, ill be fine, they will too.
Da qualche giorno ho cambiato completamente stile di gioco da skill spammer (meta) a possesso palla.. Mai scelta fu più azzeccata. Contento di questa patch. By the way, thank you for your contents, love them! Keep going man!
One of the things you pointed out that i always get angry about is when a defender has a better chance of collecting a ball from behind than in front The player is protecting the ball and the defender just steals it when there is a man between him and the ball no professional will let that happen without at least drawing a foul
How is this going to help... nerfing step overs makes it harder to break down... the game is already impossible to score, with AI blocks, 1 depth, drop back, spamming through balls in your own half, it will be impossible to break through. This will lower the skill back and make the game slower and harder to score. This game is now going to become fifa 20 mark 2. Just hold the ball and wait for the ISO play. I would rather be able to glitch through and speed up the goals and game, than sit there while some guy passes the ball between his cdms.
Facts bro only the bums are happy with this patch as they want no skill moves in the game these are the same people who were probably crying about the elastico then that got patched they want no skill moves in the game as they r shit at it so they want the smallest skill gap as possible

stepopvers in 17 were different as well, you had to manually do every single one. Now with one movement you automatically trigger up to 3, depends when you exit.
the shot cancel doesn't make sense to be fair it is similar to a fake shot and defenders would bite on them in real life; agree with the player controlled defense though that shouldnt force an animation on you
also @Stallion if you say your AI shouldnt fall for fake shots then why should it react for you when blocking a shot? if you control a player and your opponent shoots, then your player will auto block it, now doing an animation that isnt in your favour should be out of the game? its not like in reallife ppl fall for fake shots. but okay lets say you thought about that already and you say then blocks should only happen if tackle was pressed then we would all be fine right? and then i would agree with you

stopped playing since 12', playing full manual cures most of the problems caused by assistance...most ppl over 12yrs old can take the first month learning how to play this way but this isn't what the general community wants...I was hoping FIFA would create a more serious mode/category for manual players but they took another direction and instead increased the assistance to where it was an absolute pain in the ass to play against a 4yr old...
Skill cancelling was fine if u do it to ai maybe. But it’s annoying when I’m controlling the player and I don’t do a standing tackle or slide tackle and player does it for me... why? Also it shouldn’t work against good defenders either. For example some defenders have the trait to dive into tackles. Make them jump in but if u don’t have that trait a good defender like Ramos or van Dijk for example shouldn’t get baited by that
Glad to hear it although it was one of the most useful skills that you don't need a 5* skiller to perform. Hope it makes players to perform various skills instead of keep spamming one in each and every angle!
I play Fifa on PC, and from what I’ve seen it’s been nerfed. Thankfully imo, I never liked doing step overs because I like doing skills that look flashy even though it might not be effective, I just like having fun and passing the ball, by trying to emulate football. Although it’s just a game
U cant score goals anymore the gameplay is really bad, u cant pass the ball u cant come trough the defender in 1v1 situation what in rl players like ronaldo messi and so on could do
Completely agree. I refused using stepovers... cause it's just plain stupid. For someone who watches and plays football I just can't concieve the idea of spamming stepovers. I know FIFA is not football but c'mon...

I didn't bother to learn to spam stopovers but I'm not a fan of them Nerfing everything. The thing with skill moves is suppose to be designed to fool someone not glitch opponents so what i agree with in this video is the real life explanation. And so if manually block u because you exit to me with the stopover my defender shouldn't faze or get glitch passed because you learn one skill move more than me
At 29 years old I am past the point of being able to re wire my brain to feint right and exit right. I refuse. I hope those who are playing backwards football get exposed

And using the step over gave me an option to break the defence of really defensive players. I am not for a single skill move spam, but passing in this game is absolutely broken. So beatin the last men consistently with passing is almost impossible when your opponent is playing the 4-4-2 variant, with a really defensive mindset. I don’t know what the teams everyone is using, but if you don’t have some type combination between icons / overpowered players in your team. Then the movement and passing ability of most players in this game is atrocious. So beating the last men, with passing can be most of the time be more difficult then beating 3 players with just random dribbling. I would prefer the game to be in a state, where longshot can be viable for beating really defensive players. On top of that passing is the main way of breaking defencise, and that each skill move has its own situation where you should use it. And that change creating is based on using the correct skill move or picking a good pass. But in the current state of this game that is impossible, once this patch arrives on the consoles you will see that the main tactic of most of your sweaty(rats) opponents will be: 1. Use a 4-4-2 variant and use drop back. 2. Use triangle to pass the ball forward as quickly as possible. 3.a. Either try to beat the last men by a run 3.b. Or cross (pass it sideways) it. 4. Repeat this sequence until you have won. What EA should have done is instead of removing the shot cancel and step overs (viability). Is actually making passing in general way more consistent, it shouldn’t be a repeat of fifa 15 where the main tactic was triangle pass spam. But more like fifa 16, where breaking defences was based on smart passing.
Finally I can play with my favourite players even though they have 3 star skills or supposedly “non meta” like Luis Suarez. Even though I used stopovers I still knew they were broken. But now because of this patch I can actually try playing the tiki taka way
assuming it works* lul
When is the patch coming for consoles?
Yes, probably it won't like first time, but we will see.

Bridge is not that effective since update 7, now with this pc update 8 is even easier to defend it, given that there is no step overs

Tackling from behind is more effective than tackling from in front
EA is actually useless lmao
Not long ago I said that "all you do is whine". Thank you for proving me wrong.
Me too
What I gather from this is that “pros” want a skill gap in terms of what they can do on a controller rather than having actual football knowledge. They really love mechanics that you can just abuse and it’s sad that a competitive sports game came to this. Great vid as usual

That’s what separates a pro from a a beginner. Finding out what’s broken in the game and keep abusing it is a pro, nothing wrong with that because it’s EA own incompetence to not fix those issues.
spot on explanation
@@peanutbutterchocolatecake6182 I guess you mean what separates a pro from a beginner in fifa. Because. Take other actual esports titles and it is skill, reactions, intelligence what separate pros from begginers. Fifa isn't really a competitive esports. Yeah it's pretty obvious that fifa is too fast paced to be called anything but an arcade game. It has to be or nobody would score a goal in the small time a Fifa match takes place.
But personally I think the game should at least be similar in its core principles. Everyone spamming tricks like they are playing football in the streets of Brazil isn't one of them
@RollsReus _ MR11 he’s saying we can have both, Fifa leans too far in one direction
I agree. But the arcade needs a skill gap.

FIFA players don’t watch football, just highlights.
That’s why they say things like “watch how Neymar plays, he also does skill moves”
Yeah buddy, but he can’t do them the whole fucking match and they are rarely efective.
I'm a purist, in real life very few players can pull off a stepover. Especially effectively, so seeing every player in a person's team pull off it nauseating.
Just because there are broken mechanics doesn't mean you should abuse them. EA aren't the problem, it's really desperate players doing anything to win.
Bro even Harry Maguire does step overs

It's probably mostly due to the opponent switching to more offensive and pressing tactics while you also get nervous amd play worse
@@modigosmidig No it's not
Stepovers still added to having a skillgap so I am sad to see them go without seeing changes to defending and regular dribbling at the same time.

"Play football on a football simulating game". I love this sentence.
if they fix passing, nerf ai defense, and buff the attacking ai, then we are going to talk about a very good simulating game which is related to real football
Thinking of the blocking animation, this should be done when doing a fake shot with a player that has high agility, balance and dribbling, not cancelling a shot
But still only for AI players. It could nerf AI defending a little bit. But those animations should only trigger if you time it really well or make the fake shot harder to execute

Imo anything competitive should have zero assists whatsoever, that’s how you make it completely skill based
I have the same feeling towards juggling the ball.
Exactly, hate those rats who do it at kick off. There's like nothing u can do to stop it.
Just make the skills hard to do like in PES. They are some serious next level shit.
Yea the new patch is absolute shit its fifa 20 2.0

But player switchingt its shit also. So you should also nerfed drop back+buff second man pressing.

And created an actual football game?? WOW! You mean without someone doing a fake shot 30 meters from goal and it having no effect on the match? To God's ears, sir...
Totally agree with this, I played against a step over merchant last night, the only thing I enjoyed about that game was that it ended.
Something I’ve always said, and it matches with the logic you’ve put into this video with the AI making your manually controlled players fall over;
I hate the fact when an opponent turns on constant pressure it affects all of your players and there’s nothing you can do about it.
U shouldn’t fall if u just standing
thats the problem, id be standing and falling over
The same thing happened in either fifa 19 where timed fines shots was overpowered I loved it when that patch when through I started to thrive because those were the only goals I would really concede and I never used it so it was dope
Loving the vids keep them coming 👍🏻
Great Video Stallion. Those poor thumbs indeed!!
Hey Stallion. I wonder which team you support can you tell me ?
As Roma I guess
One of the things you pointed out that i always get angry about is when a defender has a better chance of collecting a ball from behind than in front
The player is protecting the ball and the defender just steals it when there is a man between him and the ball no professional will let that happen without at least drawing a foul
@@baileyheydarzadeh7024 totally agree. Most of what stallion says i agree with, but this one has lost me. We don't want a realistic fifa... fifa has been shit ever since it TRIED to be more realistic... fifa 17, 19, and before the frostbite enjine, yes it had its issues. At least it was fun to play and the games were high scoring
People resulted to step overs and double R1 BECAUSE of how hard it was to break through and score, not because they were OP, or game breaking... its simply too hard to break through someone playing their ballshit tactics without using these OP thinga
I have the PC version, game play is fine with the patch, you can still step over but I'm not a step over spammer so I didn't notice it being terribly nerfed when playing just now in the silver lounge. Seems like a good patch.
ive been at an impasse with this stepover thing
i was using stepovers since fifa 17 for the sauce, i like how it looks, so it became part of my playstyle
but this fifa everyone is abusing the shit out of it, so now i just look like a dick when i use it
i welcome this nerf and i hope i can do stepovers again without feeling guilty :)
stepopvers in 17 were different as well, you had to manually do every single one. Now with one movement you automatically trigger up to 3, depends when you exit.
Just cross the ball. Idk more people don’t. I always cross first and it changed the game for me.
Afraid of losing it probably, also because it’s so hard to get it back
the shot cancel doesn't make sense to be fair it is similar to a fake shot and defenders would bite on them in real life; agree with the player controlled defense though that shouldnt force an animation on you
Agreed.
Fifa should be a game about good decisions at the right time, no just about quick fingers.
I hope this patch makes a different, the step over spam is ridiculous. Manual blocking/defending needs to be rewarded and balancing.
My thumbs kinda just do heal to heals and step overs whilst I’m running without me even thinking
also @Stallion if you say your AI shouldnt fall for fake shots then why should it react for you when blocking a shot?
if you control a player and your opponent shoots, then your player will auto block it, now doing an animation that isnt in your favour should be out of the game?
its not like in reallife ppl fall for fake shots. but okay lets say you thought about that already and you say then blocks should only happen if tackle was pressed then we would all be fine right? and then i would agree with you
because if you're controlling him and you positioned him really well you've done something to deserve that block
@@StallionSama dont agree bc the players you dont Control also Just run onto the line and try to Block so einher nerf ai Blocks and then get autoblocks when correctly positioned or get lost EA
@@justinkirchmayer468 you need to separate the issues. Me saying a manually controlled player should block it if hes right there, doesn't mean I also don't agree about AI controlled players.
@@StallionSama i didnt try to say that but maybe thats Just me not making sense in General. I wanted to say that if you think this shouldnt be in the game, on what i also agree with you, then there should also not be this ammount of Blocks when you dont manually try to Block a shot
stopped playing since 12', playing full manual cures most of the problems caused by assistance...most ppl over 12yrs old can take the first month learning how to play this way but this isn't what the general community wants...I was hoping FIFA would create a more serious mode/category for manual players but they took another direction and instead increased the assistance to where it was an absolute pain in the ass to play against a 4yr old...
Great content! You are the voice of the people fratello!
Make them jump in but if u don’t have that trait a good defender like Ramos or van Dijk for example shouldn’t get baited by that
I love everything you say because all your arguments are objective and only based on logic
Haven’t heard news this good since I heard Kurt only had 1 year left in EA Jail
Wait I thought it was this year??

Greeting @Italian Stalion i alwyz loved ur contents would like to hear ur reviw on baby Zola how would u rate him as an icon .. was he truely an icon ?? While he was rep Italy??
I didn't bother to learn to spam stopovers but I'm not a fan of them Nerfing everything. The thing with skill moves is suppose to be designed to fool someone not glitch opponents so what i agree with in this video is the real life explanation. And so if manually block u because you exit to me with the stopover my defender shouldn't faze or get glitch passed because you learn one skill move more than me
At 29 years old I am past the point of being able to re wire my brain to feint right and exit right. I refuse. I hope those who are playing backwards football get exposed
Stepovers are like the star in mario, you just become invincible throughout the duration
I play on pc and this patch is killing the game.
I play with a 4-3-3(5) and I like playing a bit of tiki taka.
But in the current state of this game that is impossible, once this patch arrives on the consoles you will see that the main tactic of most of your sweaty(rats) opponents will be:
1. Use a 4-4-2 variant and use drop back.
2. Use triangle to pass the ball forward as quickly as possible.
3.a. Either try to beat the last men by a run
