  • An Israeli singer finds success -- and an uncertain future -- in a changing Turkey.
“We didn't leave just yet, we still have so many amazing fans in Turkey waiting for us, and still we get concert invitations and continue to find our artistic place there. It is still a welcome place for us. The people didn't change, and Istanbul will always be a part of our heart and a characteristic of our music”
Light in Babylon’s current updated lineup:
    Michal Elia Kamal: Vocals
    Metehan Ciftci: Santur
    Julien Demarque: Guitar
    Stuart Dickson: Percussionist
    Jack Butler: Bass player
    www.lightinbabylon.com
Last November “Light in Babylon” released their second album “Yeni Dunya” ( which means in Turkish - New World)
Light in Babylon and Michal Elia Kamal

@Hossein Goushov There are less than 15 million Jews in the world, yet they account for well over 25% of the Nobel Prizes in science. (1.8 billion Muslims & barely any Nobel Prizes in science.) When al Ghazali and his religious zealots burned all books containing truths that were not found in the Quran, the Islamic "Golden Age" abruptly ended. History shows that Islamic theocracies have produced stagnant cultures,... Cars, planes, electricity, trains, steam engines, phones, computers... all from the West.... You keep defending mind stunting Islam though.... And we'll keep inventing the future...

@FunkyCoala I'm glad your personal interactions have been positive; however, history tells a different story. In which Islamic country have the numbers of Christians and Jews ever increased? Look around; the longer a country is Islamic, the more Christians and Jews have been enslaved, raped, murdered, persecuted, or systematically chased out. The trend of millions over a long period of time is more accurate than your personal story.

A lot of people come to this group I believe looking for a type of spiritual refuge. It's compelling to understand that they group members are of course human, living in a context that is very fraught. I applaud their courage and their 'vision' and immense creativity given where they are living and their very clear eyed understanding of the times they are participating in.

Fellow "internetians" (or whatever we who reside online should be called): Let music be music, not matter the origins of the performers. Michal's voice speaks to all who listens. I don't understand a word of Hebrew beyond "Shalom" but am allured by the rythm of the words along with the music... Let Light In Babylon's music, and all music in general, be the carrier wave of a peace message!

*Zec.12:* 2Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. 4In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness. 5And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.

And to think Hebrew was considered the beginning language of all languages! Abram (Abraham) from what I remembered reading was taught Hebrew from Yah (God)! Jesus did not at all come from Hebrew (was Greek after the 1500's), but the Messiah's name was originally Yashua or Yahuhua or Yahushua! The 'J' and 'V' were from what many scholars believe were Yiddish, not even Hebrew at all! They have also changed the times on everyone since, because in Jubilees it states that time was measured not by the moon, but the Sun at 364 Days a Year! Hence, we are much closer to the end of time than most think!... 6895/7 = 985 is 2022 a Shemittah Year to be correct, near the 7000 Year time of completion!
