Great run through, Richard! Thank you! This reminds me of Trails of Tucana which was a fantastic flip and write from a couple of years ago. I’m definitely looking forward to picking this up for our game group.
I also get a Voyages vibe from this game. And I really really like Voyages. Only a couple of bucks for such an amazing game. Anyway, this game looks like a lot of fun as well, though it had a steeper price
Feels like Trails of Tucana on steroids. Looks like a great game, however a bit too fiddly..? Cubes may also accidentally move very easily on the board which may well ruin your carefully planned paths.
@@rahdo I assume the only reason this game wasn't designed as a regular flip & write (like Trails of Tucana) is the physical clearing of all markers (cubes) except towns at the end of each round.
@@rb4551 yeah, for some reason my blue yeti nano has been dying in live stream for months now, and so i finally broke down and swapped it out last week, and afterwards left the new mic (a rode shotgun) in place since the audience of the live show said it sounded great. but i should have checked it myself, because after i filmed this and took a listen, i figured "NOT GOOD ENOUGH" and have switched back. but i still need to figure out why the blue yeti keeps failing during live streams, so the struggle is not over yet!
Just picked this up. Lovely art style and a really fun solo game. ‘The Guild of Merchant Explorers’ sounds like something from a Fable game.
Another high energy review!

I get a castles of burgundy solo vibe... but maybe that is only because I jus discovered cob. I am very interested, thank you for the run-through!
Reminds me of a mix of Kingdom Builder and Blue Lagoon, without the player interaction.
my feelings exactly ;)
and Kingdom Builder was awful.
i think you mean "awfully good" :)

Almost as if they share a designer :p

So is it like Karuba meets Ticket to ride?
not sure i see it like that. if you'd like to see it in action though, here's my runthrough: ua-cam.com/video/HlsMz_ZFDd0/v-deo.html :)
Great review. Thank you.
I read there are 4 'maps'.
Once a map has been played, would you go back again?
oh sure. i've played a few of the maps several times. the game always evolve in interesting ways :)
@@rahdo Thank you. It has been recommended to me. And now you!.
We want an Elysium expansion!!!
when do we want it? NOW!
One of board gaming's greatest failings was that game not receiving an expansion

we've not had that problem in a half dozen plays, but otoh we don't have cats :)

@@rahdo hahaha I didnt want to say it :P But it wasnt that bad, just really weird haha
