This song was supposed to be sung by Mohd. Rafi, but after hearing the tune, Rafi suggested to SJ , the name of Manna Dey, stating that he is the right person to sing to this classical tune. Such was the respect among the singers at that time.

yes rafi sahab sungs ''mana tadapata haridarshan'' and specially higfh pitch song ''o duniya ke rakhwale'' where he maintain a smoothness in high pitch that other singers cannot do this .....rafi sahab was gifted with an angelic voice but manna dey sahab was more classically trained than rafi sahab ....but i love both of them

The talent of rajkumar saab at last appeared in the form of erythrocytes, leucocytes, haemoglobin, plasma etc. and that was the major part of this beautiful song of Manna day saab whose match at least for this song has not been found in music literature so far. Manna dey has sung this song in such an incredible manner.

When it comes to classical singing, no one could match with Manna Dey, among all Bollywood leadsingers.
Certainly not. Mana dey praising Talat Mahmood said that he had such awesome singing that neither Rafi nor he could catch up with him who is undoubtedly the greatest singer that ever sang in Bollywood. Lata said that a singer at par with Talat will never be born. DD in her programme yaadein available on UA-cam gave him the Title of Baiju Bawra i.e the greatest singer that ever lived upon earth and that will ever be born. By the way , listen to Talat in Babul 'In haseenon ko na dil do.' Sur generated by Talat is entirely missing in this.song though art is good.

In the earlier times in India singers had their individuality. They were themselves - Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali or any other language. That diversity allowed us to enjoy music like it should be. In 70s singers started copying others before they can find to stand up on their own. That's why we listen to music from that era more consistently than the new songs. I have three or four songs that I really like in 80s, same every decade. That's sad.
Mesmerizing composition, wonderful singing - beyond highest of the highest standards - genius of the duo Shankar Jaikishan at their best - this song is hallmark of Indian centuries old traditional music - they were simply out of the world - Manna Dey greatest song.
