Story Of Shani (The Saturn) - The Seventh Navagraha
Navagraha are nine heavenly bodies and deities that influence human life on Earth according to Hinduism and Hindu astrology.
Shani, is the Hindu god of justice and the ruler of the planet Saturn. He is the god of Karma, justice, and retribution and delivers results depending upon one's thoughts, speech, and deeds. The powerful god keeps a record of karmic deeds of humans and passes his judgements upon them during their lifetime, unlike his brother, Yama, who makes his judgement only after the human has passed away. Lord Shani is described as lame-legged or limp, as he was injured while fighting with his brother Yama in his childhood. He is represented riding a chariot, pulled by a crow or a vulture or an iron chariot with eight horses and carrying a bow and arrow. He is usually depicted with dark skin, wearing black clothes.
When God Shani was in the womb of Chaya, Shiv Bhaktini Chaya was so engrossed in penance of God Shiva that she did not care for her food even. She prayed so intensely during her penance that the prayers had a profound influence on the child in her womb. As a result of such a great penance of Chaya, without food and shade in the blazing sun, the complexion of God Shani became black. Therefore, Shani was born dark. . From birth itself, God Shani had inherited the great powers of his mother's penance. At his birth, Surya or the Sun who was eager to look at is son was only disappointed to see color of his child. He even suspected if Shani was his own child. At the first look of Shani, the Sun went into an eclipse and this was termed as bad luck. Receiving an unjustified and wrong treatment from his father, Shani was also unhappy with the way Surya treated his mother post his birth He saw that his father was insulting his mother. He saw his father with a cruel gaze. As a result, his father's body was charred black. God Shiva advised God Surya and explained to him about what had happened. God Surya accepted his fault and apologized. Lord Shani was born on Vaishak Vadya Chaturdasi Amavasya; which is observed as Shani Amavasya or Shani Jayanti.
Lord Hanuman reached the place when he was searching for Maata Sita in Lanka after she was kidnapped by Ravana. It was then Lord Hanuman rescued Shani Dev from Ravana. As a thank you gesture, Shani Dev gave a boon to Lord Hanuman that the effect of Shani’s inauspiciousness will never affect him in any way. In return, Lord Hanuman mentioned that none of his devotees should be affected as well. Shani dev obliged. This is the reason why people worship Shani Dev on Saturday and why Shani does not cause adversities to Hanuman devotees.

The more likely explenation is that Chaya layed with one of the monkey people during her "penance" It´s basically a romatizised version of racemixing by cuckholding the husband.
Shani teaches everyone in the hard way. He is a master who disciplines you with using a thick stick and beats you when its necessary. For the ones who are not humble, empathetic and caring towards all living beings, Shani is going to come and make sure you get what you deserve during Sade Sati. For the ones who are noble and caring, he will not do any harm. No wonder everyone fears Shani Deva.

There is a small addition to the Shani Ravana story. After all the planets leave Lanka when they are released but Shani doesn't leave. Ravana asks why he hasnt left to which Shani replies " Ravana, you made a terrible error of imprisoning me, now I'll go only when I feel like as I have casted my drishti on you.....your bad time has started now."..... we all know what happened to Ravana after that.

There is one version of the birth of Lord Ganesha, where all of the gods came to see the boy of Shiva and Parvati. Shani was also invited, but he hesitated to see the child. When Shani looked back at the boy, its head was decapitated and Shiva and Parvati were terrified. They ordered Shani to find the head of the first animal that faced north/towards Mt. Kailash. Shani then found an elephant head and brought the child to life by surgically transplanting it. He then blessed the child to be the leader of the Ganas “Ganapati”, and his devotees wouldn’t be troubled by himself. It’s a rare story but I think that kind of explains the Ganesha segment of this video.

Ganesha's duty of arrogance made Shani to look into him , it reminds us that , while obeying some ones advice also , we need to see if some one's sentiments gets hurt or not ..

@@narutohenaruto well these are mythologies and for Jesus & mumammed well there is no concrete proof about jc &for M I would say he is a character in human history who wanted people to follow what he wanted them to follow well many of his teaching are not good as per the humanitarian stand point still there is no concrete proof for him recieving the Wisdom from god well every religion exisit in this world because of assumptions and we really don't know the mythological creatures like Allah ,Jehovah,thor,Odin , Seth,and many others from various religious beliefs exisist or not so believe what you want &let others have their beliefs until they try to harm us

Shani is my favorite of the Navagrahas. But the fact that Surya had a problem with having a dark-skinned child sounds like a concept influenced by British Colonization of India. These types of mentalities must be taught as being wrong. It’s high time we end the retelling of racist elements of tales and focus more on the good lessons.

He has a problem in this story because that Surya form has red, white, yellow color. Therefore he did not understand why Shani was not born with same colors

No, Ghatotkacha took part in the Kurukshetra war from the first day. This is mentioned in the original Mahabharata. Ghatotkach had not came only for the thirteenth day’s night war.

"Sun god was disappointed because Shani was black." I dont know if the scriptures really say this, but it is certainly racism. Propagating such nasty things about Gods will undermine the dignity of the Gods.

I would suggest buying yourself a clue..
Infact the references in Ancient Indian scriptures towards colour in most cases was probably made to make everyone believe that one should treat all as equal and skin tone is not the Basis of discrimination. It's Purely good deed or Intention vs Bad
For instance even Lord Krishna or Lord Balaji was known as being dark coloured but that wasn't emphasised in wrong context as racist depiction.
It's coz we as People residing in a country close to Eqautor we are termed as Brown skinned or with Dark complexion. So there shouldn't be a biasedness of any sort and thus when God can have darker tone then those with Darker skin tone must feel that they aren't inferior but it's alright as even God couldn't do much about it and infact embraced it so we human must not have untoward feeling due the color of skin.

Not taking away from the gods there greatness but, however if Shani punishes person's for there wickedness then how come alll these people who commit killings, people who steal taxpayers money and so on are in such great numbers, cause my neighbour is one such who steals from the public purse and they have fame , fortune and live a luxurious life. It seems all these gods if they real just love wicked people because I only see the poor and destitute are the only ones who suffers when the government or there king does the wrong things, even history also give evidence to this.
