    Thanks everybody! I really appreciate your support and your kind comments. One thing to mention... I've had a couple of nice comments (thank you) that I'm unfortunately unable to clear to post. They mention the company name of "that guy".
    I, and some other stove guys I know of, have been threatened before by "that guy's" legal team. As a retired oldster on a fixed income, I don't have the resources to deal with legal stuff, even when frivolous. So, we can't really name names here. Sorry. Hope you understand. Thanks, though, for your well-wishes and your continued support. 👍😎BD

    Bernie, I really appreciate you showing that stove in action. It helps me in ways that no printed instructions will ever do. Plus: I'm glad you are forthcoming with fuel advice. I believe you when you say the old stoves with brass tanks are better. I do like my Hiker+ and it's beyond good enough for me. The tank capacity is Über-generous too. We appreciate your understated frustration as you note people "borrowing" your intellectual achievements for their own possible gains [I'm trying to be like a lawyer here.]. Your modest, authoritative on-camera presence is really a treat in this contemporary wasteland of self-importance. Keep up the good work for us.

    Like in any business someone always will clone a good product. It's a f.... shame. It's not much respect left in this world of business.
    Cheers from Norway and keep the blue flames burning Gary.

    I’m really puzzled why Optimus went with a steel tank when it’s the brass that is a big part of the appeal to the old stoves. ??

    I just want to inform you that its NOT a steel tank (please use a magnet and check for your self). It is still the good old tanks just coated with a green color :)

    Hello I use your setup and after burning the stove for some minutes the burner gets glowing red hot, is that something I should be worried about? Or is it normal procedure?
    Best wishes and I just love your caps (got them fore all my stoves) Henrik Bylin (Sweden)

      @ Henrik Bylin Clearly, the video shows me using the product with none of what you describe. Sounds like user error. ?? Just send me a note via email so we can address your problem using my products. Thanks! BD

    Hey Bernie. Do you have any tips on cleaning a dirty nozzle? Its so clogged all my prickers breaks and i cant find a new nozzle.its for an old optimus 1212 blowtorch

    • @BernieDawgCinema
      @BernieDawgCinema  5 років тому

      Wee bit off-topic here, Eirik. 😀 But, I'll give it a go anyway. The Opti 1212 is the little .35 liter petrol blowtorch if I recall rightly. If the jet is clogged that bad, it likely means the torch body is, too. Probably from using regular pump automobile gasoline. Today's auto gasoline is *nothing* like the gasoline that was around way back when they built this little torch - don't use it - EVER. Use a good quality camping fuel (naphtha) like Coleman or Crown to prevent further problems. To fix it, disassemble the torch body from the tank and remove all the other components. Heat the jet and the torch body with another blowtorch. If you can provide some compressed air into the inlet of the torch fuel pickup while heating, that'll help, too. The sludge and tar from the crappy auto gas should ignite and burn off some, it'll turn to ash if you can provide a flow of air. Then, try your pricker in the jet once you are sure all the goo is carbonized and removed from the jet inlet. Use a gun bore brush(es) to clean the torch body insides as best you can. Reassemble. Refuel. Burn through three tanks of quality naphtha. You can add some squirts of carburetor cleaner to the first two tanks which help melt away remaining residues.Should be good to go after that. More questions? It's best idea to email me at: berniedawgstove@comcast.net 👍😎 BD

    Hi, bought one of these cap from you. But my Hiker+ doesn't burn very well on Kerosene with the silent cap. Yellow flames all the way. Then I changed to gasoline, and suddenly it runs well again. Strange?

      Norway, right? Your government banned the use of true kerosene I'm afraid. These caps were designed to use standard 1-K grade kerosene here in the USA and found throughout the world except Norway, now. Norways new "kerosene substitute" is a very different chemical than true kerosene. Sorry about that. You can try blending your fake kerosene with some white gas to make "Amish mix". No more than 25% white gas, please, for safety. I've given consideration to banning Norway from cap sales since your fuels are now no longer world standard. If you'd like some additional tips that may help, drop me an email at bd@berniedawg.com . Good luck up there! BD

    Hello! I have the Nova and also your silent cap. But what bothers me is the problem of losing them. Is there a way to attach the cap to the stove with wire? Or would stainless steel wire melt? Thanks for your help! Best regards, Lars

    • @BernieDawgCinema

      The Optimus Hiker+ seems to have been discontinued. EBay and other auction type sites online would be a good place to look. Keep an eye out for outfitter sales. You're looking for used stoves in good condition at this point. Good luck! BD
