- Even though I knew where we were going, I wasn't prepared for this! I could live here the rest of my life (except for running out of water, space for waste water, and only being allowed to stay for 14 days at a time...other than that the rest of my life though). If you are visiting the Badlands we highly recommend dispersed camping in Buffalo Gap National Grassland. #boondocking #rvlife #badlands
Our little autistic grandson is 16 years old today. No he won’t be getting his drivers license, nor will he be one of those lucky 16 year old kids that gets a car for his 16th birthday. But he has come so far and has been able to do things we were told he would never do. He seems to function almost identical to Abby. You know I watch him and think how wonderful it must be to feel so content and to see just how genuinely happy he is.
It is so nice how you took the dogs with you guys! They seem to enjoy themselves as much as you all do xx

This video is awesome. I've lived my whole life in South Dakota. I lived 1 mile from the campground you stayed at in Rapid City and walked passed it every day this summer. I know the path you walked on in Rapid City and I walked it many times. Also the smell on that path is from the turkey vultures that roost in those trees every night in the summer. Seeing your videos of my home makes me so happy! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!

I’ve heard of the Badlands my whole life but I’ve never been there. And I’ve lived in Alaska and drove myself home to Arizona in 8 days but somehow I didn’t know about the Badlands then.. 💋🧚🏻♀️❤️🇺🇸

It is fun to see you enjoying my home state.
I have always wanted to go camping with my kids, the last time I got to go camping was when I was 19 and we camped on the myrtle beach camp ground with no planning, my friends picked me up at 10:30 on and said “hey come in we are going somewhere” and I had NOTHING packed. It was awful, I had to wash my clothes in sinks and hang them out at the camp ground, we ran out of food and all bought a carton of eggs to share with no way to cook them and ate a raw egg each (the taste wasn’t bad, but that texture was wack).
I would LOVE to go camping again one day especially with my joys, but I don’t know if it will ever be possible with my sons eloping. I can’t imagine what I would do if one of them got away, specifically at night while I’m sleeping, and something happened.
I live In Kentucky and where I live in the city we Bears like you are seeing, walk up down our street like they own it.. My dog goes nuts and I have to try and keep him calm because those bears will jump the fence and would eat us alive and that’s the truth. My neighbor that lives across from us, had to replace his fence twice, we watched the bear take it down and of course we tried distracting it but it’s attention span is if a toddler lol... All the restaurants in town had to lock their dumpsters because of the bear getting inside and taking out the trash and trashed the parking lot.... Then if coming in the middle of the night wasn’t good enough for them one destroyed the front end of my car!!!
I know you're never gone long and maybe you already have one but just a suggestion to have a way to check on the internal temp inside the camper while you're out (in case AC or heat goes out). I am pro-gnome. Have a great second half of your trip...looks like an amazing time so far! :)

There’s an awesome app called Seek that identifies, plants, animals and insects!! With as much hiking and “naturing” as y’all are doing it might come in handy ❤️ our nature co-op loves it!

Wall Drug is my childhood!
We went for a 9 week cross country. Our refrigerator would never turn on our step broke the valve in the cleanout valve of the toilet broke our son flooded the bathroom the toilet the fan for air conditioning went out three glow plugs went out then on July 19th we were 10 miles away from Lake of the Ozarks where the duck boat tipped over and killed 19 people we were away from our trailer and when we came back the awning was tore off and crumbled.

The def of boondocking is literally camping with no hookups, so you can boondock in a Walmart parking lot, not necessarily off a paved road

My brother and his wife used to live between Sturgis and Deadwood. So when we would visit them of course we stopped at Wall Drug a few times. They even have a Corn Palace in Mitchell SD.
