Damn, miss this game, used to play it competitively. Watching unboxing and going through my old decks for nostalgia. You had some nice pulls apart from the foils. Orc Bowmen is a nasty stuff, love that card along with Hate. Good vid!
Cheers, so glad it brought back some good memories for you! I've since gone and collected the full set, which was something I was never able to do as a teenager!
Enjoyed watching this unboxing. I'm just a newbie LOTR collector. Ive bought TCGs too but they're all preloved. I love collecting these cards but unfortunately, I don't know shops here in the Philippines that still sell this. I would love to still get the experience of opening booster packs in anticipation and with element of surprise. Thanks for this video!
You're welcome, and I'm sorry it's hard for you to get sealed product in your area. Prices are slowly creeping up on this TCG too, not as much as the Star Wars ccg, but it's getting harder here in the UK too. Will hopefully be bringing more videos soon though!
It certainly has it's intricacies! It took me a while after making this video to get familiar with the rules again but it does have a good flow to it with enough practice!
Yeah, I feel WotC definitely barged Decipher out of the way unfortunately. I love the francise tie-in aspect of their games, and the interesting mechanics!
sorry to be off topic but does any of you know a method to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my account password. I would love any tips you can offer me!
@Alfonso Lucas Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This brings back so much memories... Unfortunalty can't find any place where they still sell them, I know they've been out of print since 2007, but still.
Mostly ebay mate, but there are a few small independent sellers that deal in LotR and SWCCG, but they are mostly USA based which makes the shipping hugely prohibitive
Nice unboxing! I like the look of the cards and the bit of humour they put into naming the cards. I definitely would enjoy seeing some gameplay to see the cards in action!
Thanks buddy! They definitely had some fun with the cards which really adds to the game. Hopefully as the situation returns to normal I'll be able to get playing
Nice catch! A lot of sweet cards in that box ;) To answer your question, I would suggest keeping at least 4 copies of each card in your collection, since you are allowed to have up to 4 copies of each card in your deck.
Awesome, thanks so much mate! I'll see how it goes, turns out a lot of the singles are creeping up in price so will go for a full 1-of set first! Juust 58 cards to go I think it was at last count!
@@TimWalkerHobbies Yeah I hear you, it can get hard to find some single cards, even common ones. I got some extras myself, so tell me if you want to arrange some kind of card exchange sometime!
Building on what Phil said, if you get a lot of starters from sets in the same block, you can have much more than 4 of each of a card. For minions, that's the swarm strategy where you field a bunch to eventually kill Frodo or whoever is the Ring-bearer (Bilbo, Galadriel, Boromir, and Gollum were possible ones in a special set). And for weapons that's always nice if your opponent can discard them! But I guess if you're only allowed four...I've gotten a bunch of starters and two booster boxes recently, and am hoping to preserve starter decks in the quantity they came in to teach others how to play.
Sounds great Carl thanks! I'm definitely keeping 2 starters together for now but eager to get building some fun theme decks! We'll see how much storage space I can give to it as to how many cards I end up keeping!
nice video, you missed that out of the 6 foil cards you had 2 uncommen and 1 rar, you have to check for the letter on them bottom right corner. You were pretty lucky with the rar heros
Thanks for that! Yeah I was a bit like a rabbit in the headlights with this unboxing! Swept up in the nostalgia and hadn't made a youtube video in quite a while! Always got my eyes on Ebay to find more deals on boosters and boxes!
It is indeed! So they released 3 sets for each film, and the first of each film had the same title as the film and was the base set for that block effectively. After the 9 sets things went a little hard to track, but you can quite easily play just as movie blocks format
Absolutely loved this game, fun mechanics with great art and just an overall well made game. I won my first ever tournament playing any CCG with this game back in 2002. I remember it fondly. Do people still play?
So glad you have fond memories of it! Yes there is still a community that plays and collects. I don't think it's as well structured as the Star Wars CCG community but there's definitely fans still out there!
Thanks mate! Yeah since this video I've gone down the rabbit hole and started putting together sets and decks and started even teaching my Wife how to play, love it!
Hi, you don't open ean extraordinary box. The foils you open sucks. I collect to build deck. I play a lots of cards by four, exept characters. For me, you have some good cards, you don't who better than character. I think you love my collection

Found this video in the wake of the recent Magic: The Gathering news regarding the crossover with Lord of the Rings... 😅
Awesome, I haven't heard anything about that so will get straight on to Google, cheers!
Just taught my 14 and 12 year old boys to play. We enjoy playing and building decks together. Would like to get some more cards, but so expensive now.
That is so awesome to hear! Yeah I love the deck building aspect of the game. But yes there has been a rise in costs, even since me buying this box!

I could never understand how to play this game but I loved collecting them.
It certainly has it's intricacies! It took me a while after making this video to get familiar with the rules again but it does have a good flow to it with enough practice!
Miss this game happy to have got a group of friends to play it with back in the day. Its a shame that it has always been dwarfed by Pokemon or Magic
Yeah, I feel WotC definitely barged Decipher out of the way unfortunately. I love the francise tie-in aspect of their games, and the interesting mechanics!

Great video! Cheers from Brazil!

i have about 350 of these cards from the early 2000s glad to see peopel still collect them
Oh awesome! Yeah there is still a huge thriving community for the game that I discovered after making this box opening!
@@TimWalkerHobbies got a few of the ca4ds that are written in elvish as well as some foils
These pack openings are a lot of fun. I don’t know about others, but I don’t mind if the videos are long at all.
Cheers! It's a tough balance between showcasing the cards and not getting too repetitive with the commons. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

If there are foils, they're always the card right behind the rare, regardless of whether they're rares, commons, or uncommons
Awesome thank you! Will definitely help if I get my hands on any more sealed product!
I keep all of my lord of my rings cards 4 of everything I love playing it I have got my mate playing it aswell
Sounds good man! I still haven't got an opponent yet, but my collecting slowed right down recently as well

The foil cards are always the 4th card back. It could be a common, uncommon, or rare
Thanks for that. Yep I've since 3 years ago got back into the swing of this wonderful card game!
Is this the very first LOTR TCG set released? As in its the base set as such?
It is indeed! So they released 3 sets for each film, and the first of each film had the same title as the film and was the base set for that block effectively. After the 9 sets things went a little hard to track, but you can quite easily play just as movie blocks format
Hello DL,Tim😊 this is my first time saw these. I don't remember seeing them before. Nice!👍
Thanks so much Dustin Lim! It's such a fun game to play, it has a real charm to it!
Absolutely loved this game, fun mechanics with great art and just an overall well made game. I won my first ever tournament playing any CCG with this game back in 2002. I remember it fondly. Do people still play?

Honestly can see people playing this 20 years from now, provided that the cards haven’t all dried up, like Star Wars the fan bases are so dedicated.
Bro, the foil Durin's Secret was a rare! Though you've probably realised by now :D
Thanks mate! Yeah since this video I've gone down the rabbit hole and started putting together sets and decks and started even teaching my Wife how to play, love it!
whats the price for one of these boxes ?
Please? I just quickly checked on ebay for you and looks that they're around £80-100 these days. Hope that helps!
4 of any given card is the limit for a deck.
Cheers yep. It's now 2 years-ish since I did this video so am very much back up to speed 👍
Good pulls
Thanks! Yeah looking back it was a really good box!
the subtitles changed isildur to izzle door ._.
Ha! Yeah I've seen a few errors much stranger than that!
I have a good colección of cards
Awesome, glad to hear it!
there was 1 foil rare :)
OK cool, thanks. Yep it's all been catalogued and put in a binder. Nearly completed this set now!
I missed it, which 1?
