Thanks for your video! I've been scrolling for 40 years now but have been involved in "compound cutting" for about six years or more now. I really got into it when my daughter gave me a book on making chess pieces and boards. The book detailed how to make chess sets with different themes as Paris, Venice, Canterbury Castle, San Francisco etc. I thought she was crazy! It terrified me! I let the book sit for about two or three years and finally, I thought I'd give it a try. I experimented using pine and to my surprise, the figure came out nice. The book also gave patterns for braces you can use to make more accurate cuts. It was all good until I started using exotic hardwoods which take a lot more concentration and patience! Since then I made two complete sets which consisted of Canterbury Castle opposite of Paris with a chessboard and another set with a standard set made of Indian Ebony opposite a contemporary set made out of failed chessboard pieces on a purchased chessboard. This hobby has made extremely satisfied with wood working. But it seems there's few who want to undertake the time to try it for lack of patience. Scroll sawing is for very few, sort of like a brotherhood!

@@davidpark8643 Yes!, I now have two books on making Chess Pieces: the one I mentioned above is by Jim Kape "Making Wooden Chess Sets" ISBN: 978-1-56523-457-4 and one by Diana Thompson "Wooden Chess Sets You Can Make" ISBN: 978-1-56523-188-7. The second book has a number of unique sets that you might also like. Let me know if you find them!

Just started on compound cutting my brain still can't process how with straight blade cuts you can end up with these fantastic items. Does liquid food colouring work as good as powder? Loved the real time video
