Oh thank you! Beautiful knits you are doing. And love the crocheted hat, so good you can try all these new projects. And love what you said, made me laugh - sandwiches for dinner, but yes, you are a good, great, mom! Loved hearing about your precious grandmother, and the Stuffed Peppers, ❤️❤️, thank you always for sitting and letting us knit along with you!

Love spending time with you! Gardening is my day today. We're finally getting warmer . . . . but always a chance for snow and freezing temperatures. So, I cover plants when I need to. Stay well my friend. You are helping so many people.

A lovely episode Jana. I really enjoy watching you, seeing your knitting and hearing what you have to say and am pleased to see that you are happier now. You suited your hat so much. It’s lovely. And the colours of your garden sweater are beautiful. You’ve knitted it so quickly too. I hope you finish it soon. Take care, enjoy the sunshine as we are too in between the rain ☔️ 🧶🇬🇧☀️🍄😀

You look so pretty in the bright summer colours. I was laughing because I kept saying "brim" out loud, but you didn't hear me. lol It's been sunny a warm all weekend here on the south-west coast of Canada too, finally, after months and months of rain and cold. It seems like the whole world was sunny and I'm so here for it! Love your podcast. Thank you so much!

I am so impressed with your joyful garden sweater and the rafia hat. I like the way you do the podcast it is like you are talking to family. That new book is fabulous . The Ukrakanians were so generous. I have a friend who is Russian Ukranian who now lives in Georgia and they were so generous with food. Love you Jana

You garden sweater is so stunning! I love all the colors and am so glad the colors are bringing you joy! Hope it's a bit less frustrating after its "time out."
We euthanized our dog this week (he's had a long, happy life -- 18 years! -- but his health and mobility had declined to the point that speeding up the inevitable was the kind thing to do) and I binged your most recent episodes during his decline in health. Your persistence in the face of big emotional hardship, as a mom, volunteer, maker, artist, wife, business-owner, and more, has been really inspiring for me as I've been dealing with my own grief and helping my kids and husband through theirs. Thank you so much for opening up to us and sharing more than just the bright parts of your life with us.
My son asked for a sweater with a cat on it resembling his favorite cat plush, so I'm knitting "Cat Sweater/House Sweater" (two different charts available, one for a cat and one for a house) by Ji Luo with mohair and sport-weight held together for the cat to make him a fluffy-looking kitty on it for his sixth birthday. My first intarsia project and I'm loving the challenge!

I love your podcast! It is wonderful the way you share your life, it is like chatting with a friend. Here in San Diego we are enjoying our "May Grey" and "June Gloom" season, when the clouds from the Pacific keeps many days relatively mild and comfortable (in the low 20s Celsius). We will soon be in the mid and upper 30s, so I appreciate every cloudy day we have left! Gardening is a year round process here. The cool weather crops are done and the warm weather produce is starting to ripen. The sweet corn and melons will be ripe soon; tomatoes are abundant; oranges, tangerines, lemons, and limes are everywhere, and the last of the winter avocados are still available while the summer avocados are almost ready for harvest. Food is abundant, but there is not a lot of sweater weather!

Steek the armholes. No colorwork flat. The Halibut sweater is is very fun ! It has been a cold spring in minnesota I put my house plant outside while I had help from my son last week and my jade got nipped by frost! I covered plants the last 2 nights. I want to put plants in the garden but it is too early. I love the stuffed peppers and borscht too. Food memories are the best. My grandmother made life rich. She gave us traditions that we continue with our grandchildren. I am going to keep the garden simple. I love carrot beet potato, beans, cucumbers and tomatoes What a beautiful town! ☮️ ✌️I am going to look in my laine magazines

It’s funny: I’m Hungarian (living in France) and we have in Hungary this meal with filled peppers in tomato sauce (töltött paprika) also. We use exactly this variety of pale yellow-green peppers (sometimes some yellow-orange also). My mother makes this meal often in the summer 😋. It’s really interesting to discover all the influences between cultures and people that brings us closer 😊

When I was a child my parents decided me and my four sisters should learn to like borscht. It took some getting used to! We would have the beet version sometimes with meatballs and a dollop of sour cream.

Such a lovely area you live in! So sorry it is in such close proximity to Russia, though. 😪 I don't understand a lot of how these things work, but hopefully Finland and Sweden will soon be a part of NATO and maybe you will be able to feel a little bit safer. ❣️ I am SO glad to have found your wonderful podcast. 😀 I am knitting on a Rock It Tee while watching you today.

My choice was mow the grass, plant asparagus or have a cup of tea with you.It is now 65 so more comfortable outside, got really chilly last night and rained. Haven't touched my knitting in weeks, the sadness and frustration of being is too much and I see that in your eyes too. I wish I were local to hug you and sit in the garden while you work and I could work in ends. The last few years have been so bad don't want to do colorwork, projects have been dark, naturals so not drawing any attention if I leave house. Covid infections are going back up in Illinois as are gas prices so staying home is the best plan. Ok, is now 1230. Will get the instant pot cleaned out and put some rice porridge to cook while I mow. Take care, you matter.

Love the color-work! If you follow Roxanne Richardson she has a video where she knit a Christmas stocking for a great niece. To even out the stitches she used a wooden spoon to wack it. Another viewer said she used a spurtle, which is a flat wooden kitchen utensil.

Hello from Australia, I'm inspired by your garden sweater, I was stuck on one I'm making and now I have a new vision for it, I'm also knitting myself a singlet in baby wool a pretty bright pink colour, winters where I live get very cold, its the attitude. it's almost winter here in Australia and I've got greens carrots beetroot and parsnips in my garden and planted more seeds today they will grow all year around here. We may get some snow in winter but soon melts in a few hours.....Cheers! From the land down under. Ps I love your podcast keep up the good work.

Hi Jana 🥰 I love your new lace socks and am looking forward to hearing about how the yarn holds up as I'm always looking for nylon-free sock yarns. I had a bit of a chuckle when you said you were interested in making the Chestnut but didn't like the idea of knitting it flat as I was literally knitting the sleeves of my Chestnut, flat, while watching 🤣 I agree it's not as quick knitting colourwork flat, but I haven't minded it as much as I expected. We have a few others knitting the Chestnut for our #ayearofmariewallinkal , some of which have converted to knitting in the round so it's certainly an option. It's a lovely cardigan and definitely worth the effort 😉💕

My garden this year has cucumbers, Roma tomatoes, sage and peppers. Last year my mom made Thanksgiving stuffing with fresh sage and it was amazing so I had to plant some this year. My hubby loves spicy peppers so we have jalapeños, habaneros, ghost peppers and Carolina reapers.

The knitting technique you are thinking of is called mirror knitting also called backwards knitting. There are UA-cam videos to learn the technique. I taught myself how to do it while knitting stockinette. I’ve never done it using color work though or stranded color work. I hope this helped.

The hat is lovely ..... and you looked so good in it . I am glad you have garden time . I am working hard in the garden but not quite so much veg this year as I am away for 3 weeks in July to the other end of the Country looking after my self sufficient friends poly tunnel , greenhouse and hens whilst they take a break . Focusing on wall repairs and painting shed and fencing and easy veg. Will be interested how you find the no nylon sock yarn as I am trying to be more mindful . Kerrie

Thank you for another vlog, Jana! Love the pink/yellow sweater tee; I'm hoping to use those colors in a wrap someday soon. I finished Casapinka's No Need to Panic sweater last week using Shibui Vine in Ash; sadly it's been discontinued. It makes an interesting texture all on its own. I have several more skeins to make Shibui's Mitchell poncho. Meanwhile, I finished the Goodall slimming shell by Sivia Harding for Shibui, using Reed (100% linen) in Crete held with Lunar (60/40 merino silk blend) in Pacific. I was ready to bind off the shoulders together, but tried it in first; it was 2-3 sizes too big! So yesterday I unraveled & rewound it all, re-figured the math, and cast on again. 🤞🤞🤞 it fits this time!! I'm hoping to have it ready for a knitting retreat I'm attending in Maine in June with Casapinka, Sidney of Squidneyknits, and Simone of owlcatdesigns. I'm so excited!! Almost as excited as if I were going to Finland...a lifelong bucket list item. Maybe 2023; hoping to go with my cousin who has been there before. Thank you for the little glimpse of your corner of the globe.

Ahhh. Time to grab my tea and knitting, you are here! I am enjoying Lady Grey tea. Do you have this in Finland? I am in Cornwall, England. Currently knitting a pair of vanilla socks but trying different types of heel. I have avoided the flap and gusset as I dislike picking up so many stitches but I like the look of this a lot. Happy knitting and gardening! :)

I have seen a few podcasts where the podcaster has knitted Marie Walden sweaters in the round. I have the Chestnut kit too but I am not committed at this time to spend so much time on one sweater….8-)

I think I would really enjoy a raffia handbag. Something big, more like a beach bag that would fit all my essentials (including the knitting bag, of course). Thank you for giving me this idea!

Reverse or. Backward knitting saves you on large or heavy projects. Elizabeth Zimmermann first created it I think

Hi Levina! I've been trying to relax a bit, but bad things just keep happening. We live though some scary times.
Canada is doing a fantastic job helping a huge amount of Ukrainians! More countries should do that!
