I've got a theory about these cocktails. They've all got 3 things in common: they're all sickeningly sweet, they have no clear spirits, and they're made with children's ingredients. Coupled with what we know of Rusty's childhood (his father throwing swingers parties and leaving the kids alone to their own devices), I think Rusty started emulating his father as a kid, taking the most interesting looking cocktail components (nothing clear, because that's boring), and mixing in kid-like ingredients to make Grown Up Drinks. Even as background gags, this show finds way of demonstrating how Jonas was the WORST.
I can see it as many people do use those ingredients in barbeque sauce (though rarely together). Barbeque sauce has gotten some crazy varieties. If it exists then it probably was turned into a sauce for barbeque and many really good experienced mad men have made some huge bucks out of their crazy barbeques; some even have restaurants and/or tv shows (and/or other important stuff of notoriety).
I drank my way through an antique cocktail book. Some were healing. Some were good, all were VERY high alcohol content. Some were like the ketchup thing. One was beef broth, a bunch of pureed veggies, some tomato paste, some ginger beer, and a fuckton of whiskey and vodka. I know the feel-it's a BAD time.
@@Gorenghal God I wish. It's amazing what the Worcestershire, tabasco, and clam juice does to make the drink good. Overall this thing was somehow mostly tasteless, with the flavor of beets kind of taking over. That, the weird oiliness provided by the beef, and it being 50% booze by volume and *still* being indescribably thick made it a...rough time.
It would be fun to see "fixed" versions of these drinks, drinks that capture the spirit of these drinks but made palatable. Would be an interesting challenge
honestly think you could make a good red mocha shot with something other than a full pouch of kool-aid. Probably replace the Hershey sauce with another alcohol.
I think in the episode for the hunchback Dr. Venture was merely correcting the ever popular Pete White from where he had said tomato soup. The way he says it is slightly confusing, but when White asked if it was cola and tomato soup, he responds by saying it's ketchup and bourbon. He didn't say cola, ketchup, and bourbon because White had already guessed the cola part correctly, so he only said ketchup as a correction to what the tomato flavor is from, and then he said and bourbon to complete the recipe. It would have made a lot more sense for someone to say the whole recipe, but when dealing with the great Rusty Venture, few things make sense.

In retrospect, it is INCREDIBLY telling that all of Rusty's drinks are grossly sweet and are more so what a kid thinks a cocktail is than an actual cocktail.

Roger Cameron with the amount of sugar, it would always overpower anything, if you’ve even drunk undiluted cordial, it hits you like a brick, I really wouldn’t matter how much or how little much of anything was sprinkled on top.

A gross sounding but actually tasty drink is a Tootsie Roll: Pour 2 ounces of Kahlua over ice Top with about 6 ounces of Rootbeer (also works with Coke)
I did always love how when Hank presents the proto-Hunchback (just ketchup and cola), Brock doesn't even touch it while Doc keeps drinking it throughout the scene. But the Red Moco Cooler is the only Doc-tail that ever sounded even remotely drinkable. The Hunchback always grossed me out.
I imagine the Red Moco Cooler could be made pretty drinkable. First thing on the list would be to take a "light dusting" to mean much less than an entire packet of Kool-Aid. Then experiment with the syrup/Kahlua ratio. It'd still be super sweet and probably resemble a cherry cordial, but I figure that's the point.

I actually learned it from my high school German teacher. She would tell us stories of life as a child during the Berlin Airlift, and one of them involved getting her first ever packet of Kool-Aid. Thing was, she had no idea she needed to add sugar to it.

Jason Coates - It took me 5 years post cancellation to re-evaluate how clever the writing was. Admittedly I gave up on Venture Bros by season 2. Maybe I’ll come back around after watching it on [as] streaming.
Honestly, I feel like he was being merciful and including coke. Doc seems like the kind of guy who thinks Club Soda/Seltzer has no flavour and only serves as a base to make things fizzy and doesn't count as an ingredient worth mentioning.
I would totally watch more Rusty ""Doc" Venture drinks being made and tasted by you. Though, if it makes you sick, don't do it! Also watching you use Cool Aid mix reminded me of the one time I mixed fully made Cool Aid with a can of Laybatte Blue's. Which was actually good to me! I started watching venture bros when I was 12, I’m 28 now. My first episode was ghosts of sargasso (episode 106) and I remember laughing so hard at the show with my friend who introduced me to it. I have watched every episode live since it had been on air, and it’s a bummer to see it go.
The hunchback seems like the perfect accompaniment to reading H P Lovecraft... “the human mind can not comprehend the horror...” But a hipster gastropub around the corner had a specialty cocktail called something like ”Rusty’s Adventure” as a nod to the Venture Bros on the menu a few years back, and it was amazing.
This is probably way too late, but the "Red Mocho Cooler" had ice in it on the episode. In the scene, the doctor yelled out as Dean was running away, "Dean, less ice this time!"
The hunchback really gave u a hunchback, cuz it makes u hunch over trying not to heave it back up. Lol. Love the venture bros. About to start to binge watch the series now. Lol.

If there's ever another "Cursed Cocktails" episode, you should make Mystery Science Theater 3000's KILLER SHREW! (measurements where applicable) one scoop Chocolate ice-cream, Captain Crunch with Crunch Berries, handful of Peanut M&Ms, Mrs. Butterworth's, a couple of Circus Peanuts, lots of Mr. PiBB, four Marshmallow Peeps, one whole box of SweetTarts, one scoop Vanilla Frosting, and one handful of Good 'n' Plentys. Blend together for around 15 seconds, pour into a tulip glass, and garnish with a wind-up shrew.
I just want you to know that I appreciate your suffering in the name of science. And that I Desperately want you to do more Doc-tails! Not because of your suffering, but because I've always wondered if any are at all good? I believe this because we are not just men of science, We are men of hope!

I really wonder if the red mocha cooler could’ve been done right with the same amount of kahlua with chocolate liquor, cherry liquor, and a replacement of the dusting of cherry koolaid with a dusting of nutmeg. Like he’s 100% onto something with it being workable at its core it’s just each ingredient past the kahlua is too powerful for a single serve.
I literally sent this video to a fellow drinker who has never ever seen any of your videos and I know he will love it. This is quintessence of why your channel rocks, as far as I'm concerned.

John F - CN/[as] properties esp older ones have a problem being sold as home media if they haven’t been kept up with. I was so bummed knowing there isn’t a Moral Orel or Metalocolypse US Blu-ray set.
Since VB recently had by season blu-Ray sets made, I think there’ll be a complete set at some point.

Honestly, I feel like he was being merciful and including coke. Doc seems like the kind of guy who thinks Club Soda/Seltzer has no flavour and only serves as a base to make things fizzy and doesn't count as an ingredient worth mentioning.
I would totally watch more Rusty ""Doc" Venture drinks being made and tasted by you. Though, if it makes you sick, don't do it! Also watching you use Cool Aid mix reminded me of the one time I mixed fully made Cool Aid with a can of Laybatte Blue's. Which was actually good to me! I mainly say this cause I HATE the taste of beer and the Cool Aid mostly killed the Laybatte's taste and made it so much easier to drink! Anyway, thanks for the video my dude! Feel better!

Pretty sure those days are done. The guests on hot ones have sort of gone towards celebrities that soccer moms like. The days of hilarious rappers, dirty mouthed chefs, and road worn comedians seem to be over.

I started watching venture bros when I was 12, I’m 28 now. My first episode was ghosts of sargasso (episode 106) and I remember laughing so hard at the show with my friend who introduced me to it. I have watched every episode live since it had been on air, and it’s a bummer to see it go.
honestly, I kinda want to see more Doctails if for no other reason than because of how honest your commentary is on it.

But a hipster gastropub around the corner had a specialty cocktail called something like ”Rusty’s Adventure” as a nod to the Venture Bros on the menu a few years back, and it was amazing.
A random thought: when adding Kool Aid, use a teaspoon full from the cannisters with sugar already added, instead of the super concentrated stuff.

This is probably way too late, but the "Red Mocho Cooler" had ice in it on the episode. In the scene, the doctor yelled out as Dean was running away, "Dean, less ice this time!"
"What would be grosser?" Do exactly that, as Doc Venture has no aesthetic with regards to flavor profiles.
With the exception of the Ruddy Bottom, the rest of Rusty's Doctails look like a form of Espagnole Sauce in a high ball. Blechh!

If there's ever another "Cursed Cocktails" episode, you should make Mystery Science Theater 3000's KILLER SHREW! (measurements where applicable) one scoop Chocolate ice-cream, Captain Crunch with Crunch Berries, handful of Peanut M&Ms, Mrs. Butterworth's, a couple of Circus Peanuts, lots of Mr. PiBB, four Marshmallow Peeps, one whole box of SweetTarts, one scoop Vanilla Frosting, and one handful of Good 'n' Plentys. Blend together for around 15 seconds, pour into a tulip glass, and garnish with a wind-up shrew.
I just want you to know that I appreciate your suffering in the name of science. And that I Desperately want you to do more Doc-tails!

This was an excellent and fitting tribute to The Venture Bros. Firstly, thank you. Secondly, I really wish you made a "Rusty Venture."
I really wonder if the red mocha cooler could’ve been done right with the same amount of kahlua with chocolate liquor, cherry liquor, and a replacement of the dusting of cherry koolaid with a dusting of nutmeg. Like he’s 100% onto something with it being workable at its core it’s just each ingredient past the kahlua is too powerful for a single serve.
I literally sent this video to a fellow drinker who has never ever seen any of your videos and I know he will love it. This is quintessence of why your channel rocks, as far as I'm concerned.
