    Primordials aren't gods is one thing, that can be argued, but the Calamity is much more recent than the Founding, and Ruidis existed during the Age of Arcanum, Brennan specifically notes the two moons during the fall of Avalir

      He doesn't specify two moons except when he is describing out of character what an apogee solstice is. The only other time he describes the moon(s) is when he is in character as Evandrin talking to Zerxus and says "I love you more than the moon" singular.

    Nah, Brennan was clear that those two titans were destroyed by the astral leywright. Laerryn used the power of the apogee solstice (and Patia's 9th level spell) and sacrificed the continent of Domunas to make sure. Would be a middle finger to the Ring of Brass to just bring them back in the main CR campaign right away. Also historians of the hyper religious Vasselheim, the Dawn City, would know the difference between gods and titans. 'Oops, we found some names of two powerful beings and just assumed they were gods, our bad.' It's realistic (like fake species of dinosaurs caused by fossil mismanagement), but it's a terrible plot for a fantasy story.

      Did miss something? I thought the entire reason they used the Leywright was to send those primordials to another plane. Those primordials were basically immortal. If they could be killed then Pelor would have just done that instead of seal them away. Those primordials exist somewhere else now. They weren't destroyed. The continent of Domunus was destroyed by both the energy surge from Avalir and pissed off Betrayers that made a point to destroy what was left of it in retaliation for taking out their allies. I watched the series twice so I think I'm correct. But maybe I missed something.
      EDIT: I also don't think the primordials are tied to the moon stuff. It seems unrelated but who knows? I'm just making sure I didn't misunderstand the ending of Calamity

      @@TitoMcFadden Yeah you're mostly right, just that rather than being banished into a single other plane, it's more like they were disintigrated and spread far throughout multiple plains, to the point where reforming would be impossible. I think the word Brennan used was "diffused".

      Pasted from my other comment.
      it makes sense thematically though. The two primordials were of Fire and Earth, and the volcano erupting was what kicked the calamity into high gear. One fascinating thing about volcanoes is sometimes they will have lightning running through the ash clouds. Having Imogene use lightning themed magic while connected to the red moon (which was suspiciously never mentioned in EXU) is a bit of a big coincidence to ignore.
      Also having the big red boi “avoiding” detection seems to indicate a form of sentience

      The texts telling of those forgotten gods and of not having Ruidus are said to be as old as the founding. But that does only mean that these two changes (2 gods gone and Ruidus appeared) happened between the writing of the texts and today. Therefore it could have been at the Calamity.

    • @CerotheDemon
      @CerotheDemon 2 роки тому +4

      Actually the timeline makes sense if you take more than one second to think about it. The texts were about how Ruidis did not exist before Calamity. If think about all the traits Ruidis has shown it appears to be VERY similar to the results of Astral Leyrite that Laayrhen built. It phases in and out of the living plain….just like Evandran and the toy model. Even out of game, clearly EXU Calamity has some correlation and relevance to C3. Also Ruidis appears AFTER the events of the Calamity( the heroic sacrifice aka using the Leyrite to seal away the primordials). So chances are they are within the moon itself.

      @@CerotheDemon there is PLENTY of difference, especially in DnD, and especially when the we're being told this from the minds of researchers in Vasselheim who spent their entire lives (which could be almost a millenium for some of them) devoted to this topic.
      That's like if, in a world where God, the Devil, angels and demons are real, the Vatican made a press statement about two sealed angels that disappeared from canonical texts but you insisted they were actually talking about devils or nephilim but the vatican priests couldn't tell the difference.
      We've had much more humble people in Exandria show a clear understanding of the difference between the primordial, elemental titans and the Gods. Remember that the Founding, this world's proven creation story, is about the Gods fighting the Titans. Do you think the ancient Greeks would not know the difference between the Titans Gaia spawned with Uranus and the Olympian gods that overthrew them? And those were actually the same class of being and the offsprings of one another yet they still get different classifications, while the Gods of Exandria literally came from another world/plane during the founding and waged war with the primordial beings that are native to Exandria. Titans and Gods are so far removed from each other they are literally from different realities, the only commonality the two classes have is they are on comparable scopes of unfathomable power.

      @A Just because the book mentions 2 gods doesn’t mean they are both related to Ruidis. It would be odd to mention the lost names of 2 gods and one of them not be the now deceased god of death.
      The only thing that even suggests that it might not be is that the name still exists at all. We know when the Raven Queen ascended that both her previous name and her predecessors name were wiped from all record including the memories of those who knew her personally. Even Asmodeus couldn’t remember his siblings name and he wasn’t even on the material plane when it happened.
      So the question becomes if it is the god of deaths name how did it survive and what are the implications of it having done so. Could he be returned to existence with his name? Could someone or something like a lesser deity use the name to claim the domain that the Raven queen couldn’t entirely inherit? After all she is only the god of the moment of death not death in its entirety.
      All in all I wouldn’t be surprised if the full ramifications of this stretched well past this campaign into the next.
