The lore of these switches was definitely interesting, but I think the ultimate takeaway from it is that the hype behind finding the "one true Holy Pandas" was because the community just didn't understand back then what made the switches sound and feel the way they do, hence why everyone obsessed over getting "originals" and drove prices through the sky. Once the cat was let out of the bag that it was just a matter of long pole stems and stiffer contact leaves, the mystique sorta just disappeared and the much cheaper Boba U4T's came along to use exactly those same design elements.
I've tried a whole lot of the holy panda derivatives and I have to say U4T's are probably the best I've tried. Neapolitans, I think I personally like the spring of more, though.
My favorite tactile switches are the Anubis switches I like them more than the Boba U4t, slightly more tactile and a deeper sound signature. I put two staged springs because of their lack of return snappiness. They are great switches.

These switches sound kinda ass compared to plain old regular Holy Pandas. I don’t even know at this point with the amount of switches floating in the market, but the U4Ts, Ergo Clears, and even the Durock T1s put up some very good competition at least in the sound department.

Honestly, after hearing your review and agreeing - these aren't Pandas, but they are a good tactile switch, which could benefit from having their own name to them, Black Bears actually sound like a perfect name for these switches imo.
To me, the lack of the long stem bottom out is an improvement compared to the Holy Panda, at least for ergonomic purposes. I stopped using Holy Pandas because my fingers were getting banged up from how hard the Holy Pandas bottom out. These will definitely be my next tactile switch.
This is what was keeping me from ordering holy pandas in the past, and why I just ordered myself some HPXs. May not be true holy pandas but sounds like the kind of switch I'm looking for
@@madeyourmark Yep, I didn't have enough information before I ordered Holy Pandas and I ended up with an expensive switch that I couldn't use. I salvaged a little value out of my Holy Pandas that I couldn't use by making some Zandas with my Zeal V2's, which I also did not like very much. But that's part of the cost of this type of hobby, you can't know for sure whether you like a switch until you do a proper typing session. I had no way of knowing that until I really used them.
@@Tjenaretjenaremannen My problem with long pole stems is not fatigue. Fatigue means getting tired too easily, such as with a spring that's too heavy, and that's not the problem. I don't like them because the impact from bottoming out is too harsh. I can feel the reverb in the bones in my fingers when I bottom out. It would be kind of like jumping up and down on concrete with improper shoes. Fatigue would be from using your muscles which is not the problem that I'm describing here. The problem would be that you'll hurt yourself from hitting the ground because the concrete is too hard, and your feet are not protected if you're not wearing the right shoes.
