I absolutely love the singlet! Thanks to the aqua jogging you got through the IT band issues and nailed your training. Great race plan - you got this. Enjoy your entire Boston experience, it is truly quite exciting.
@@oldmanvanrunning Bill, I hope that BOTH the weather AND your ITB cooperate - but still, no matter what, YOU are running THE BIG ONE -- YOU are running BOSTON !!!!!
Hi mate, wish you a great race. Enjoy and smash your PB in Boston 💪💪 Very nice preparation, I need to try to use that pro race garmin feature too for my marathon or half marathon race. Thanks ,great video!
Best of luck to ya at Boston! If you don't mind me asking your age and what the qualifying time is for your age group at Boston is, I would appreciate this info. I'm in my mid 50s and starting to run again after many years off, and eventually would like to run Boston myself.
Kevin, "Old Man Van" has said in another post that he will be age 61 two weeks after this year's Boston. He also started to run again after many years off, and recently earned two official coach certifications - you can look for that video - so he will be a great person to get advice from.
Hey, Kevin! Thanks for the support!...I'll be 61 in a few weeks. For 60-64, the qualifying standard is 3:50. For 55-59, it's 3:35. I qualified with a 3:42:31 and made the cutoff by 2 minutes (was 0:05:29)...Welcome to the channel!
Awesomeness 😅. Have a safe trip to Boston and I look forward to seeing more of your videos! I know you’ll crush it on RaceDay! You seem very dialed in. God bless you!!
I read somewhere that Frank Shorter used "defizzed coke" in his marathons - don't know if he used it when he won the Gold Medal in the Munich Olympics or the Silver Medal in the Montreal Olympics, but he won lots of races in his day.
Absolutely right, Cathy! He swore by it, and it's also used by professional cyclists as well. Frank would take it in the latter stages of marathons where it is most effective.
@@oldmanvanrunning I guess that's why I'm such a slow runner, then .... I don't drink defizzed coke! Maybe I'm also slow because I have no talent and don't train hard enough! LOL.
@@oldmanvanrunning Years ago I was seated at the same table as Frank Shorter and his wife at a New York Road Runners event for people who have finished the NYC Marathon 15 times or more. I found him to be delightful - gracious when I acknowledged his two Olympic medals and NOT conceited or bragging in any way - and interested in listening to our stories, even though we were far inferior to him as runners. I was so impressed.
Yes, please be careful to not trash your legs on those first steep downhills. Please! Save your legs for the hard miles later on. Run like your legs are made of fragile tissue paper - then run them like steel in the late miles.
All' the best young boy I hope PB best
Thank you very much!
I love that top!
Thanks! 👍🏻
