Scottish midges are enough to test anyone's concentration! The Scottish highlands are stunning, though I love them even more when it's warmer and when there's less rain (great for camping then too).
It's a little cold to sit in meditation in Scotland. If I meditate too long, I get terrible nightmares.

Hi George, is it your view that consciousness is the only substance that exists and when we meditate, we can chill as pure consciousness? (Our true nature)? Or do you believe that consciousness arises from another substance and is fleeting? If consciousness is the only thing that exists and is unfolding as all that is, then is the Tao another word for consciousness?

Thank you for these videos! It’s always been a struggle for me to meditate but your calm gentle energy and relaxed guidance really helped me get it for the first time. In just a few days of following along with you my anxiety has gone down, my breathing is getting easier, and I’ve had more clarity to do the things I want to do instead of feeling stuck.
I do want to mention though as someone who has an auditory processing disorder your mic was picking up some swallowing noises that were very distracting for me and I have to listen to this video on a very low volume. I’m not upset at you for it, obviously it doesn’t bother most people and it’s not normally a big deal. However, your videos may be more accessible to people with similar issues if you edit out those noises, assuming it’s not too much trouble to do so. It’s your production and I’m not trying to tell you how to run it, but I just wanted to mention it because most people aren’t aware of how those mouth noises like swallowing and chewing can create a barrier between people like me and media content. For meditation especially any little noise is heightened, and it can go from feeling calm to a painful spike like sudden nails on a chalkboard if that makes sense.
I’ll keep watching your videos regardless though because I really do love your lessons and advice!

You wouldn’t be able to meditate if someone stabbed your ear with a needle every few minutes, and you wouldn’t be laughing about it either. I hope you can come to understand that others have challenges and struggles that are different than yours

Thanks George. I always find in meditation that I am often absent in thought. When I come back to the present moment, I find this is just another thought thinking about the thought I just had (if that makes sense). If I repeat a mantra such as "be here", I have to do this by thinking about it, and so this is just another thought. In actual fact, I'm never not thinking.
