INFO: Deftones is a band with strong roots in the alternative metal scene. They started out as a nu-metal band that went from simply playing heavy riffs, screaming and rapping a bit, to creating a more nuanced sound mixing shoe gaze, electronic samples and pop inspired melodies into their metal music. Because of their willingness to experiment, they’ve sometimes been called the Raidohead of Metal. Let’s find out if they deserve that title.

I discovered Deftones way too late. They have this romantic style where you want to hear their music when you are driving at a hot summer night or just want to gaze at the stars. Brilliant.
Why do you think it was too late? Better late than ever. But i think it would be awesome to be in the crowd at a show just
when they started blowing up though. Fantastic description though.
Yes. It’s music for vastness.
Cyber romance for a desert at night
I always felt this way about Deftones. Something about “night drivin” as I call it with the windows rolled down blasting Deftones Around the Fur back in the day when I first got my driver’s license was a big deal for me.
THIS THIS THIS. i didn’t find them until i was about 25 and i think one summer i listened to passenger five times in one day
Not so, listen to (Like) Linus, Adrenaline and Around The Fur, their best albuns, White Pony forward its to much light, s3xual and silly.
I remember the first time I heard Be Quiet And Drive. Literally fell in love as soon as the song finished. Still probably the most powerful feeling over a song I've ever felt.
Me too!!! It was the very first deftones song I'd ever heard. I remember it playing on the radio one summer afternoon and I remember thinking I never wanted that sensation to end. It was like an orgasm! haha I never knew music could move me like that.
That song put me in a trance the first time I heard it, it happens every time to this day that song is something special and I don’t know how else to put it
The acoustic version is breathtaking
Have you heard their slowed down more chill version of Be Quiet and Drive? It's so beautiful. Please take a listen :)
Automatically stare on blank space everytime I hear this song 🖤
Has anyone noticed how Deftones is "night" music?
It feels odd to listen to during the day.
And it feels so right to listen to during the night.
I used to listen to this when I sneaked into my girlfriend's room through the window without her parents noticing haha. This was 10 years ago. So I associate the music with getting some during my teenage summers xD
I get what you’re trying to say but I don’t agree, I can listen to it at any time of the day, Deftones to me is like Winter and Fall music it just has to be cloudy and cold lol if that makes sense
I like to listen to them during the day in the right mood, but I 100% understand what you mean by night music. It's like, the lack of light helps you hear the music more. There are some songs, in general not just theirs, that you can hear and feel the absence of sound just as much as the presence. In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins is a great example as well. Something completely unlike anything Deftones does but still has that quality. But it's something Deftones has mastered. You can hear it during parts of Adrenaline and some more in Around the Fur, and then it's pervasive, in a good way, from White Pony onward.
The only song of theirs that feels daytime is, ironically, My Own Summer. Which is about hating the daylight and hotness of summer....
fr !!
Koi No Yokan is so underrated. Rosemary is one of my fav songs by Deftones
THATS MY FAV ALBUM!!
Agreed for sure. Every time I start Koi, I think "damn this is good shit"
yes this is straight up facts
Objectively their most cohesive and solid record. Every song a banger and legendary from start to finish. Rosemary is my fav song by them. With that said though Self Titled is my favorite record overall even if it's not thier absolute best production it just speaks to me the most. My opinion of course
My favorite is Goon squad
I'm 16 as I'm writing this; I was born in 2004; I only recently discovered deftones but I've been listening to them CONSTANTLY. Something about their music just carries me away in a way no other band has. I know I'm not an old fan or anything but I intend to carry their music with me through the whole rest of my life.
Ey that's awesome! I felt the same way when i started listening to them back in 2012. And i still feel that same way whenever i listen these days. They're one of the more magical bands i've found. What's your favorite album so far?
@@LieLikesMusic Diamond eyes! :D

Samee I’m gonna be 17 soon and I started listening to them around my 16 birthday last year
Im 36. First heard Deftones in 1997. I promise you. Their music will carry you through the hardest times of your life like no other band. Enjoy your journey
around the fur will forever be one of my favorite albums of all time

Radiohead of metal? Nah, they're the Deftones of music.
Lol that's one way of putting it.
They are one of a kind
let's find out if they actually deserve...say what? lol
I was offended by that “let’s find out if hey deserve it” lol Deftones own a genre all their own. They don’t deserve, they simply just are.
I recently saw them live- could not control my emotions. It was an incredible experience and I didn't stop crying the whole show.
I got to see them live too! Back in April. It was amazing
Im about to see them for the first time in Dayton Fl this May. Welcome to Rockville. _-_ I cant wait.
gotta manifest to watch them live myself someday
Awwww ❤
My auntie is a huge deftones fan so growing up I was always with her and she was always playing deftones. As I got older I realize that deftones can be used for any mood. Like sexy time, angy time, sad times, happy times, etc. They go hard and still do with their new albums. They legit have no bad songs. Maybe one you like but not enough to listen to all the time but it still bops.
Theyve been my favorite band for over 25 yrs. As a "nu metal" band they clearly have proven to be the most talented and beautiful who can keep putting new stuff out and isnt hammered to death by radio (like regular radio lol) and then laid to rest like just abt every other band in that genre. RIP CHI CHENG
Ha ha yeah exactly! They go absolutely perfectly with every mood for sure. I grew up with these guys. Where most bands slowly fall off and cant no longer pull the listener in, deftones is just that band that never gets old, never makes you like "ugh again?!"
@@brandihodges20 keep rocking bee :)
Damn am I your aunt? Lol just kidding. It just reminded me of my nephew reading this Comment. I got him into deftones as a young teen and he's now almost 30 and still banging everything I showed him growing up....kudos to your auntie for being cool like me. 😀
One of my goals of being an aunt is to show my nieces and nephews Deftones music ♥️
The only band where I can have all of their albums on shuffle and love and feel to every single song and never get tired of it
Right?
I have them all on an old iPhone in the car.
i agree so much and i dont really hear the differences between albums anymore ive memorized every song so i cant tell if a one of them is easy or experimental or whatever
Keep on constantly playing on Spotify on my hour drives to work. Never get tired of it. In fact if It would be likely fuck my day up if I didn't listen to at least one song lol.
Agree. I relate many songs/diff bands to day or night or certain weather or energy in the air.
I'm not a big fan of their early chaotic stuff, but anything since Diamond eyes is in my top list (plus White Pony and part of Around the fur)
Chino's voice makes me cry. This band is otherworldly. My cousin Daniel introduced me, even though I wasn't into them at the time, back in early 2000s. I will forever equate Deftones and Daniel, who passed in June 2021. He was a vet and he'd had a hard life, but he was like a brother to me. I can't hear Xerces without thinking of him. I love you brother. We'll meet again. 🖤
Fun fact for the day: Madonna heard them and made sure they were signed.
Kris Frederick is that true??
@@MarioRamil Yessir, they're signed to her label. Or, were I have no idea now.
True.
Damn, respect
It’s true. She heard them and signed them to her Maverick record label. They may be the first band, not sure?
Deftones have never made a bad record
Gore was leaning towards being bad. It's mediocre imo
Ben B never
Lie Likes Music maybe compared to all the previous albums, but bad? No way. It felt like a solid rock album imo
Koi no yokan was not great man. Not terrible either, but not great.
Abbazabba 81 It is a great album by most fans & music critic standards. If it didn’t meet your standards, that’s all you
Deftones proved that they were much more than a nu metal band. They evolve into something greater down the line.
being a 90s kid deftones shaped a lot of my childhood, their music was a safe space for me, being a middle-class kid in India I was lucky to have found deftones on limewire and then deciding to buy white pony in a CD store (the only one in Mumbai that had it). only a few of my close friends had similar music tastes to me, Deftones was something we would listen to on our walkmen after cricket, their music helped me confide, vent, express and a lot more. I am truly grateful for Deftones!

Deftones stirs emotions within me I didn’t know existed, which is why they’ve been my favorite band ever since I discovered them in high school. They’re absolutely mesmerizing live. My fiancé and I plan to dance to their cover of ‘Drive’ at our wedding. Couldn’t get married without them being involved somehow. 🖤
That’s so awesome! Congrats on the wedding. I fell in love with them for the same reason. I discovered the band late in 2011 when I was 17. Their vibe is unique I’ve never heard or experienced anything like them before I fell in love instantly. So dreamy, sexual, deff bought out all type of emotions In me
Sick ass wedding
Totally agreed, Deftones are their own genre. Wall-to-wall audio beauty.
Awesome! Go you!
Oh my god!! Me and wife danced to that cover at our wedding too. I remember showing my wife and friends that song and they were absolutely blown away by how good it is. I’m glad someone else just gets it :) (I know this comment is 2 years old now but I had to give my take!)
Deftones is one of those rare things that when I see someone who also likes it, it makes me give them that little head nod as in "hell yeah i'm with you".
feel this way bout alice in chains
I m with you
One does not simply "understand" Deftones. Deftones is a state of being.
I think, therefore I am Deftones

If you love deftones.. I love you.
edit: thanks for all the positivity and love guys it means a lot
Good. Love you back :)
Likewise.

I understand that mindset completely... I love you too... RIP CHI CHENG
I love you toooooo
Deftones is my favorite band honestly- They have such a wide range of sort of softer songs to more hardcore songs and I love Chino’s voice!!
Agree with everything you said here. Other than them being my favorite. They're definitely in my top 10 though. What's your favorite album by them?
I heard someone say this before but Deftones makes music to help express the feelings you can’t verbally communicate. Their riffs, screams, both soft and loud vocals help express how you feel at a certain time. They’re not just a one type of song band, they have a wide range and variety of sounds. These sounds help us imagine and create an image of these feelings we can’t picture on our own. Deftones music helps escape from whatever you’re feeling or helping find what’s wrong. Interpret the music as you will, but this is personally how I feel about this.
Precisely
exactly
people ask me why i listen to their music when everything else that i listen to is rap, but their songs just express how i feel so well
I always felt there was a warmth and smothness to their sound compared with most of nu-metal bands of the time. They were all aiming to combine mellow and aggressive musical elements in their tracks, but for me, Deftones' work is magnificent in that sense. Maybe it was due to their openness to different styles and ease of navigating nu-metal tropes.
"Hexagram" is a good example of Chino's vocals on that album but "Bloody Cape" really shines as his ability to both sing and scream stronger than ever.
Their music is so diverse in how and when it can be listened, you could be at the peak of your life and their music will resonate just as much as being in the pits of despair. Listening to them is to an artist interpreting a painting in multiple ways
Deftones is easily has the most consistently good material compared to thier contemporaries
What contemporaries do you think of?
Lie Likes Music Literally every other “nu Metal” era band lol
While I still like Korn I mostly agree. Though I didn't really consider Deftones Nu Metal. They were always experimental to me. From one song to another it was something different while still being completely Deftones. So I couldn't label then Nu Metal.
Also the fact most "Nu Metal" bands sounded so similar back then, made me think of Deftones as something different.
The contemporaries are the plethora of Nu-Metal bands from the time. Korn perhaps the notable exception. Limp Bizkit, Static X, P.O.D, Disturbed, Papa Roach, Il Nino, Drowning Pool amongst others. The breadth of their work never had real evolution in sound, as their got stuck in their early success formulas. The Deftones were always different in that regard, in their willingness to just go in a different direction.
Agreed, they transcended their nu metal origins and truly came out with a voice of their own, it's rare for bands to have such longevity and relevance.
Greatest band of all time in my opinion. And still standing the test of time.
I’ve known about Deftones for so long but only just recently actually listened to their music… when I say I INSTANTLY fell in love, I feel like it’s an understatement. They’ve been playing constantly since.
This video was made before Ohms, a great album that feels familiar to their roots in some aspects but was completely new in other aspects, just a wonderful album. It's crazy how the band felt and sounded just as good as they did when they started out. Gold from 1995 to 2020. Every. Single. Album.
Around the Fur is an album that EVERYONE should listen to before they die.
i was born in 2006 but i’ve been listening to them since before i could walk my mom was a single mom in her late 20s who, before me, would constantly mosh and party she loved deftones so it was always on in the background haha so i’ve heard every one of their songs but their first 3 albums were my childhood and are my favorite things to listen to to remind me of my mom. She passed away 4 years ago. she saw them preform around the fur and it was her favorite album. she was a great woman with great music taste
Somewhere, Someone who has never heard Deftones music before is watching this. They are falling in love. Feels Good.
Yes that's the reason why i made this video in the first place. For the old fans that want a nostalgia trip,
for the people who need to listen more to them and fall in love again, and for those who are brand new
to them and will find one of their all time favorite bands.
Lie Likes Music you’re doing a special thing man keep it up
Me
I’m 50 years old and I remember the song “change” but I don’t remember any of their other stuff. After watching this I’m kind of confused why I didn’t listen to more. So I spent a few hours listening to all their stuff and it’s incredible. How did I not know more about them? Crazy! IM A HUGE FAN NOW!
@@oldmanballer5088 It's never too late, glad you finally found them.
it makes a lot of sense for Koi Ko Yokan to be their most well balanced record in terms of sound. Rosemary transitions from melancholy and soft despair straight into freight train demon action especially well, I love it so much
also, those alternative album covers are really good
Discovered them summer of 2020 and instantly fell in love. First song I heard was Be Quiet and Drive. There is this feeling Deftones radiates unlike any other band, makes you drive in the sunset or just go stargazing on a hot summer night. Somehow their music combines chaos and pain with soothing and calming vibes. Been listening to them ever since and personally believe they have never made a poor record.
Deftones is seriously one of those bands that are purely unique and a band that seriously cannot make a bad album. Every album just sounds thought out to a degree and you can tell nothing was just thrown together to make it sound like a song. It just makes sense.
needles and pins is prolly my fav song cus of his vocals and the lyrics. truly an amazing song
It’s crazy to look back on how much music Chino has put out in the last 20 years
Koi No Yokan was stunning. Still play that album when driving at night
Play it while driving through Las Vegas at night. That must be the perfect scenery
Would love to see goon squad live
That kind of comment wants me to plan a roadtrip with other Deftones fans
koi No Yokan is awesome.
@@LieLikesMusic i live here in vegas and i just started getting into deftones, i will do this soon 😊
Wow. As a musician from Sacramento that is heavily influenced by Deftones, this made me feel a lot closer to their body of work. Thank you for this video.
I fell in love w deftones wen I moved to sacto also.
I will forever keep this band in my heart I love them so much
Frank Delgato is the essential, secret sauce of Deftones.
His underappreciated genius transformed Deftones into a world class band. He compliments his band mates perfectly and draws out creativity from all of them that created that timeless style.
Tempest, Digital Bath and countless others highlight his brilliance.
He took 4 great musicians and transformed them into legends.
Completely agree, Frank is sooooo overlooked! The band wouldn't be the same without him.
They give me nostalgia even though I started listening to them only about a year ago… they’re an anomaly, to say the least
Digital Bath is my all time favorite. It's one of those songs that makes me stop doing what I'm doing and stay still, close my eyes and just listen and admire it again and again untill the day of my death
I love how some of their songs can sound so unsettling and so peaceful at the same time. Cherry Waves is a perfect example of a song that feels peaceful and haunting at the same time. It’s beautiful honestly, and only Trent Reznor and Deftones can make a song with that sort of feeling, but with a different kind of sound. Love the Deftones (and NIN), hope to see them at ACL this year with Metallica.
That's a good comparison. They both have that ability to strike beauty and discomfort at the same time.
And i haven't hard many other bands that can do that in te same way. NIN are releasing a new album soon right?
Lie Likes Music yeah they’re supposed to release an ep in a little bit, heard the new track and it sound pretty good.
Guess what? We're friends now!
You're right. I love Cherry Waves. Immaculate.
Saw them in concert today, literally so good.
Your lucky babe, Minerva is the golden song
Does Chinos voice still sound similar to 97 and earlier?
Don't lie, I love the deftones but they are terrible live about 90 percent of the time. They put out amazing albums where they can manipulate Chino's voice, but live is a fun time as well as very anticlimactic concerning vocals. It's rough. Has been since like 2003. His voice was gone already back then.
@@MayorGoldieWilson825which is odd because they could definitely just slap the effect they use in studio on his mic
Been a fan since Adrenaline and my favorite album is by far Koi No Yokan. The most varied, the most melodic, and the most confident record they've ever made imo.
Diamond eyes was the first Deftones song i heard. *Really* love it. I looked up their older stuff and was so shocked to hear how different it is 😂. So far, Diamond Eyes and Tempest are my 2 favorite songs from them.

deftones wide range of sound really sets them apart from other artists, the way their songs can go from heavy to light, rosemary is a good example

Their self titled album is my favorite and it seems to be underrated. It's kind of what In Utero was in contrast to Nevermind(White Pony) by Nirvana, less catchy songs but heavier and darker
Grew up in the 90s, I’m 38, I listen to all kinds of music, but Deftones are one of my all time favorites.
There was a unique vibe going on in the late 90s with a mix of grunge & skateboarding/extreme sports that for me Deftones felt like an appropriate musical representation of that time period.
Deftones is an amazing band and I will always cherish them, they help me cope with life and its happenings everyday. I love them so much
Passenger is one of my favorite song of all time all music genre included... been a fan since 94"
There is no true understanding Deftones other than our mere mortal interpretation. They really tapped into something ethereal and otherworldly with a lot of their music. After almost being alive 30 years at the witing of this, I still find myself returning to their first 3 albums so much. Been listening to Koi No Yokan a lot as of late and exploring other relatively newer releases.
I lost my concert virginity to this band, and it’s so nice to see them appreciates to where we talk about the dynamics of their music. Good job!!!
Thanks! Personally i've never seen them live. But i'm planning to do it sometime very soon. Glad you enjoyed this.
I’m doing that tonight!!

I was actually disappointed that it took me that long to find such a unique amazing band
i love deftones so much their music is literally heaven
deftones is the only band that will have me crying in a moshpit. best way i can describe it ✌
Digital bath was practically the theme song to my highschool years. Saturday night wrists I would say is their second best album after White Pony; bizarre that they didn't have a good time making it, because it is so good.
Deftones it's my fav band since I had 13 and still until this day , I always listen to their songs and it's nostalgia plus the fact that I feel this it's the best music in the world makes me feel so good.
Saturday Night Wrist is one of the most underrated albums ever. Love everything Deftones have put out but SNW is the one I go back to the most often.
It's a fantastic one for sure. Don't see why so many people don't enjoy it.
That’s my favorite album
Well said, it's my favorite album from them.

Totally agree, I don’t understand why I’ve read or heard it’s wasn’t liked much.
Deftones never cease to give me chills. There's almost an ASMR quality to Chino on some tracks 😆 often contrasted with wild wailing. Love it!
Saturday Night Wrist was my first and still my favorite to this day. Sensual, sexy and absurdly atmospheric. LOVE IT A LOT
deftones is one of my favorite bands of all times ngl, theyre so talented and extremely nostalgic for me. my dads played them for me since i was a baby lmao
I listened sporadically to songs like passenger, my own summer and hole in the earth my whole upbringing, but never dug any deeper into the bands music. These past months I’ve been listening to their discography constantly, and I can only regret I didn’t give them the chance earlier. Fantastic band
The thing about Deftones it's their albums are all good and sound different. Such a consistent band throughout their career.
One of the most overlooked and insanely talented bands of today, thanks for covering them!
No worries. Yes i really hope they get more attention as time goes by.
They're not overlooked at all. They are critically acclaimed and have sold millions of records. They are highly regarded. You don't know what "overlooked" means.
Overlooked? No sir.
Dude every single metalhead/Hiphoppers ive met have heard of deftones.
Deftones has got to be in my top 3 favorite bands. Hearing all of this new (to me) information about their albums and what was going on is so cool! I already knew about Chi dying, that still hits hard though…such a young guy, with so much left to offer.
I love Chinos 90s style. His whole look inspired my high school appareance, even his swag. Was addicted. But yea Deftones is its own sound, they are unique.
I love Deftones in every way shape and form.
My favorite bands have always been rock bands that can do a bit of everything. They can make head banger songs and also soft songs that elicit deep emotion. Deftones definitely can do both.
My dad introduced me to Deftones, that was 2 years ago. It was the perfect time considering I wasn’t in a good place and senior year (prior to Covid) was brutal. Adrenaline got me thru it. Their sound perfectly depicted how I felt and I was then able to just feel everything I was dealing with thru them. At this point in time I can’t go a day without listening to Deftones. Their sound+lyricism is so addicting in such a wonderful way.
See, I love deftones but I don't listen to them when I'm feeling down as I find their music to be incredibly depressing
I still remember hearing deftones for the first time. It was late 90s, I was in 9th or 10th grade, my buddy had just bought the Around the Fur CD and from there I was hooked. That was the first CD we burned a copy of, lol. Then when the White Pony album came out, we skipped school to go get it.
When I think of Deftones, I think of the good ol days.
Same here. I mean the first time you hear them is usually the best time.
Or maybe i just envision it to be so much better in the past like so many
other people do.
I was the same age. I really miss those days. It was a different world then. Smart phones and social media are a societal cancer
Me too, korn and deftnes was favourite, later i have found early Nirvana, if you ask me Nirvana is best since than, most original and deftnes is maybe only band who can step in arena with Nirvana with their sound, very similar sound, copycats
World was same, people also...They have change not a thing
I was in 8th grade and borrowed a bunch of cds from my buddy for a long plane flight. Put in adrenaline and listened to it and around the fur constantly the whole trip. I skipped school when White Pony came out too haha, that was the first time I ever smoked out a car... ahh the good ol days
I never listened to Deftones as a teenager because I was under the impression they were pure metal. How wrong I was! White Pony is a masterpiece.
I absolutely love the Deftones, and always will. Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I like a lot of different styles and genres, but no other band has ever been able to make me feel things the way the Deftones do. I'd be willing to bet that anyone reading this comment knows exactly what I'm talking about. :) Thank you Deftones for all the amazing music and memories!
The main reason I love Deftones is the simple fact that they are artists that are not pretentious. They create art that you can love or hate, but you will have a reaction to it. A real reaction. For instance, Gore is one of my favorite albums with all of its twists and turns. But “Acid Hologram” is my least favorite Deftones song (we don’t talk about “Pink Cellphone”). I have a visceral reaction to it. But then I hear “Prayers/Triangles” or “Phantom Bride” and I get happy and excited. Their music is, I hate to be THAT guy, an experience. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions, and the different ways of perceiving those emotions. Unless it’s “Pink Cellphone” WHICH DOESN’T EXIST!
They’re so versatile and sweet sounding but yet so rough. Chino and the rest of the band members are gods for creating this wonderful band.
One of my all time favorite bands. They had grown along with us. And I love everything from day one til now. Fucking killer group to see live
Despite my absolute love for White Pony, I think Koi No Yokan is the best thing they ever did. Its like they took everything that was great in their previous works and blend it into perfect "Deftones" sound. Agressive, groovy, dreamy and beautiful combo of metal and shoegaze with something special here and there. Good video, subbed.
This comment absolutely nails it. No album like it before or after. For myself, I remember the album coming and thinking I'm so excited about this, but this is not the time in my life for this album... and waiting till the following summer to really embrace this album, go for long runs and drives and boat rides. This album changed my life for the better, and as musicians and humans, that the greatest compliment one could give. Rip Chi, deftones for life.
Koi No Yokan is my favorite album from them. I don't know what they tried to do with it, but each song for some reason reminds me of a different 70's or 80's song. For example, Graphic Nature, the very first time I heard it, Maneater by Hall & Oates popped into my head. With Rosemary it was The Chauffeur by Duran Duran. Entombed reminded me of some Rush songs and would be at home among all the power ballads throughout the 80's.
Koi no Yokan and Saturday night wrist are underrated albums
Yes Koi No Yokan is ridiculously good.
I'm glad to see so many other people that give KNY the praise it deserves. How would you rate their albums?
Here's my list:
1 Diamond Eyes
2 White Pony
3 Koi No Yokan
4 Saturday Night Wrist
5 Deftones
6 Around The Fur
7 Adrenaline
8 Gore
I just discovered deftones and their music just goes hard any time. I wish I found them wayyy earlier

I'm so glad this band is still around and still putting out quality stuff. Can't wait for the next album!
I saw deftones in 2017, they were incredible. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
Always loved deftones, but after meeting them and seeing them live, it became an obsession
Chino is one of the most creative and powerful vocalists I've ever heard. So much respect. One of my absolute favorite bands. Thanks for this vid!
No worries. I feel the same way. Would love to do videos on some of Chino's side projects too.
But that will have to wait for a bit.

I'll have to look into those projects! Keep doing what you doing brother. I appreciate it.
Heve you ever hear Kurt Cobain? Chino is a copy of him man, inventor of those new styles was Kurt also singing, i loved Deftnes until i found early nirvana recordings, than they were blown away with creator of moderate rock!!! Listen to Fecal Matter demo from Kurt
Deftones are a category all amongst themselves. They have evolved over the years into sounding completely unique and transcendent. This is why I love these guys!
I remember being 7 years old or something and Minerva was on NHL2004 . I just kept playing that song over and over . Flash to myself being 23 years old I looked up the song again and just fell into a hole of all Deftones music. I love them so much
I started really listening to this band a few months ago and it seems like something I really needed. I don't usually particularly enjoy Nu Metal, but this band definitely showed me a different aspect of it. Their music is something truly unique and it combines so many elements that I enjoy. Definitely one of my favorite bands.
Around the Fur, White Pony, Diamond Eyes and now Ohms stay on my playlist at all times. Other than Tool, Deftones are the only band that I'm still just as into as I was when I first discovered them in 1998. Now if I could just see them perform live together, I'd die a happy man
Deftones is an ethereal silver cord that connects me to my little brother who passed on June 9th 2018. I had listened to a few of their songs before however after I found my self drawn to several more of their songs and have a greater appreciation! Rosemary does something special!
No matter how much I love black metal and gazillion other genres, I will always regard Deftones as one of my top 10 bands. Their discography is near perfect!
They're in the top 10s for me too. What other bands are in your top shelf?
Lie Likes Music this is gonna be tough for me but I'll try anyway! Many bands are super close so this list isn't completely accurate.
Devin Townsend, Opeth, Enslaved, Ihsahn, Deftones, Leprous, Panopticon, Gojira, Cult Of Luna and let's say Mastodon. What about you, what's your top 10?
@@franlovelsimic8421 Devin Townsend, Enslaved, Opeth, and Ihsahn you got the masters of extreme progressive metal there. Loved Emperor but Ihsahn solo stuff is defiently thinking man's black metal.
Feliciteira might be my favorite song by them. Grew on me so much
I torpedoed into Deftones when Diamond Eyes came out. Never looked back since. I love them so much. Best band to shuffle their whole catalog. Or, pick an album for a mood you're in. Their records seem offer something for each mood possible. Anyway, solid video! Cant wait to see them this May
I just discovered deftones this year and some songs have already been my favorite
Koi no Yokan is criminally underrated, I truly believe it to be their second best album after White Pony.
I've always thought of them like the Pink Floyd of metal with how translucent their music is. Or even like Rush how their music began to change as time went on.
This band definitely changed my life, they are unlike anything I have ever listened to. They are simply amazing, godly, something that bores in your soul forever. Thank you for this video
For sure. Feel the exact same way, which is why i was so happy to see people requesting this band in the comments.
Cheers from Norway.
The first time I heard Deftones I was on a camping trip with my best friend growing up. The first song I heard was “My Own Summer (Shove It).” This was played on a discman with portable speakers and it was amazing! Still absolutely love the band to this day.
The Deftones is my heart and soul. I can listen to their entire discography in one sitting and have done so many times.
