They don't make them this way any more! Corelli and Price have no equal today - and Merrill and Dalis were certainly fantastic artists..... I started to go to the Met when I was 12 ....and I saw these artists many times. While many think that the era of Caruso was the "Golden Age" ....I feel that the 60s-70s certainly qualify as a Golden Age. And as I've often said ....if testosterone had a sound, it would be Corelli's voice!!

God! What incredible singing! He just soars out over the others. The passion! I read the Garcia Gutierrez play El Trovador, in Spanish, when I was a kid in college, and was horrified even then. This ending, along with those of La Gioconda and Rigoletto, have to qualify as some of most gruesome horrors ever set before the public. I love high melodrama, but this pushes even those boundaries! But the music makes it worth it! (Especially Franco:-)

May I ask that more of the audience applause be heard at the end of this performance? There is a thrill in hearing the outpouring of love from the audience that would add so much to this recording you have so generously shared with us. Thank you.

If you listen to this you know Opera is dead, there are no singers today tike them, while wrong people are in charge the last 50 years!!!!!!!!!!

You're right; they have disappeared! I wonder why. I hope the Metropolitan Opera didn't have anything to do with their removal, because I do have her two arias and would love to post them. Would you happen to know if whoever posted them is still on YT?

No, I don't know who published them. Strange! The two arias had been available for a long time, then all of a sudden they disappeared. I'd like to get the entire debut performance for private use, but, for some reason, it's unavailable even on the so-called private labels. Do you know where I might find it? In any event, Price's fans would be very happy if you'd publish the two arias.

Corelli comes out clearly and what a performance. Price sounds hooty and stringy as she did early on but it works. The other two were recorded sort of badly .
